WHY did this have to be a single?
No idea. :(

I think the song is immensely disappointing. It's catchy in an annoying, retarded way. There's nothing fresh, smart, or edgy about it. She's following trends, not setting ones. The production is meh, the lyrics - terrible.

I was honestly expecting something truly groundbreaking. Guess not.

ok, it's growing on me. :shy: The 'see the sunlight' part saves the song.

thanks! voted for 'Criminal'. :alexz:

Loving the flute. I wish more artists used live instruments in their albums. This makes the sound so rich and organic!

I'm semi-addicted to the song to be honest. I really like that chanty chorus. The whole thing is throwaway *trash*, but no less enjoyable for it!

See, GaGa's 'Government Hooker' also sounds trashy in a way but is also very unique, distinctive, sophisticated, and edgy... and is in a totally different league.

Gaga's GH is like pasta with a topping of caviar, marinated in champagne, and sprinkled with basil leaves while Britney's TTWE is more like a double cheeseburger with large fries and extra mayo on the side.

Exactly!

And who doesn't like a cheeseburger and fries now and again. :drama:

Ke$ha wrote it. What did you expect? She's no songwriting genius.

I actually think it's ok. Nothing great, but a passable modern pop ditty. :shy:
sooo disappointed :hurt: Good it`ll be the first track, so it would be easy to skip first two songs.

I`ms so TIRED of the "floors" and "DJs" and "dancing" too............ :files: Even Rihanna told that it`s kinda boring these days with sooo many songs about clubbing.

Possible #1 though.

FUCK Kesha!!!

Can someone please tell me why people are all of a sudden looking for innovation and depth in a Britney Spears record?

"Blackout" was a brilliantly produced album that was a little ahead of the curve. But that's it. Nothing else in her career has ever even so much as suggested sonic experimentation or any depth.

She's a pop tart. A disco dolly. A barely-talented pop puppet. Enjoy her for what she is! Leave the innovation and interesting songwriting to others.

Well I managed to listen to it all the way through once - just about :basil:

I just can't stand her voice and it's not my cup of tea.

She really does have one of the weakest, most unintentionally amusing voices in the history of pop music.

She will never, ever be able to sing anything of any depth. Imagine that voice trying to sing "Live To Tell" or "Oh Father". :lmao:

cause it was hailed as the next best thing PLUS every major producer probably worked on this album in some form or another.

and then we get THIS.

I don't think you're ever really going to get innovation from ANY "major producer" though. They'll just churn out whatever's "hot" at the moment, especially for someone like Britney. It's not like she's an actual artist who will push the producer or get the most out of them.

Yeah, definitely. That's been one of the major factors why she was able to "reinvent" herself and appear cutting edge for so many years, was by working with underground or at least, lesser known, songwriters and producers. That way, she never ended up just sound like everything else out there.

And then "Hard Candy" happened... :chuckle:

What she REALLY have is that possibility to speak very rapidly and clear in her songs , and she has very nice feeling of the rythm. Her close to r`n`b efforts in vocalizing (studio i mean) i think is better than Madonna`s (e.g. Mannequin - no way Madge could take this one) . Britney feels this rythm better.
As for the voice.... totally agreed.

Totally! Remember when in an interview Justin mentioned they had to work on M's way of phrasing rhythm while recording HC?
