She actually put photos of her kids in the album booklet, how inappropriate
Re: the shambolic state of the album, I think it's telling that the whole affair is 35 minutes and two months ago they only had 5 songs. I think they either rushed it for the Vegas thing or Britney stopped giving a shit for her music altogether and couldn't be fucked to go into the studio, leaving will. i. am. and Myah Marie (her ghost vocalist) to pick up the pieces.
Well she has always said that she wants a career like Madonna's. I guess she's following it very closely indeed.
Yeah cause when you open that MDNA booklet you see baby photos of her kids
but I guess it makes a perfect sense for Britney to include them in this very personal work of hers, that includes such family gems as Work Bitch
I was referring to the lack of effort Madonna puts into her albums of late, not the booklet.

Is this album growing on anyone else? I mean it's still sort of shit, with extremely basic hooks and generic production, but it's enjoyable enough.

It's definitely growing on me. I enjoy listening to it while still acknowledging it's kind of boring and basic.

Exactly. If I listen to more than 5 or 6 songs, I start to feel rather unwell, but up to that point the experience isn't entirely unpleasant.

i'm feeling this is not as bad as people make it out to be. i can name five songs i get to enjoy, which is the standard number to expect out of any brit album. the highlights may be the best songs she's recorded in ages.

Actually let's post the booklet and see just how ugly and exploitative it all is

Let's see... Madonna in a push up bra and thigh high boots with a finger in her mouth and a fuck me look at 55 or Britney in bed reading stories to her sons? Which is more OFFENSIVE?
a) I don't really see the point in bringing Madonna in every single discussion. I know it's suppose to piss me off or something but it just shows your lack or argument.
b) I don't see anything offensive about a human body, or a finger in ones mouth... if you're offended and disgusted by a middle finger in a obviously theatrical performance, mostly because someone is 55, it's your own problem... and its not like she was flashing her pussy for the paparazzi or the audience... like your other two favourite artists
c) I like me some Britney. She can be as amusing as she is shallow. You're tripping that I hate everyone that I'm critical of... But anyway, all this that doesn't change the fact that using photos of your kids at that age, in an album booklet or music videos, is simply wrong.

You mentioned Madonna in relation to this booklet (wrongly I might add). I do see something wrong with a woman who used to be in control of her sexuality posing as a sex kitten in a traditionally male-gaze fantasy at the age of 55. I don't see something wrong in posting pictures of your children in a booklet of your 'personal' album that is full of other personal moments like pictures of your assistant/surrogate mother, pictures of your fans and mementos they made for you and pictures from the set of your first video. Why do you think it's wrong? Do you think children are ugly? Do you think motherly love is wrong? Is it because you will never be able to have children yourself?

Britney vs. Madonna? Really? What is this, 2000? Britney is now 15 years in to her career, and she is about to flop in to oblivion with a shit album after never showing any growth as an artist. 15 years after "Everybody" was released as a single Madonna was making Ray of Light. Enough said.

It was actually River who compared them, I apologise...
Again nothing wrong with being 55 and sexual, at least it shows signs of brain activity, unlike...
Are you serious with those questions ? You know very well I only meant that it doesn't seem like a good idea to throw kids in the spotlight before they choose to do it when they're old enough. As someone who was exploited almost on the level of MJ she should know that no ?

Pushing your tits and ass in the camera after a 30 year old career of eschewing such tactics to shift a few copies shows signs of brain activity? I'd think it's a clear sign of dementia, myself.

Also, what exactly is your problem with Britney having a picture of her kids in a booklet comprised of things that are important to her? A specific answer and not random ellipsis and allusions to Michael Jackson. How is this EXACTLY thrusting her kids in the spotlight? Madonna has her infant daughter on the cover of Vanity Fair specifically to shift copies for Gods sake. At least this booklet is something only fans get to see.

Er... didn't you say that to compare Madonna and Britney is idiotic only to participate and completely wallow in the idiocy? I refuse to take part in your 'condition'.

I agree with The Guardian review:

""I'm gonna mark my territory," sings the once-imperious Spears on Perfume, the most recent cut from album number eight. Trouble is, there isn't anything on Britney Jean that wipes the floor with Katy Perry, Lady Gaga or Miley Cyrus, the pretenders now remodelling the pop firmament neglected by Spears. The dead hand and cheesy rave stabs of will.i.am dominate this record, even though he produced only a couple of tracks. Much here is busy, effective dance-pop that works, but it fails to rivet like Britney's 00s output. The sheer functionality of these tracks belies the idea of a "personal" Britney album, and Passenger has the air of a confessional. Dancing is easy to songs like Body Ache, but weirdly, Katy Perry and Sia co-wrote it with Diplo."

Britney is one of the few artists who literally stopped caring about her music career but kept making hits and selling thanks to her name. She really is unique.

The album may end up in the same place as Femme Fatale for me though. It's “fun,” catchy etc., but not enough brilliant moments. I'll have to listen to the entire Deluxe edition to judge.

RS seems to like the album: rollingstone.com/music/albumreviews/britney-jean-20131126

Agree completely. There's fun to be had with this album but will.i.am's lack of choruses and replacing them with basic nursery rhymes and random synth stabs and bass wobbles is all over this record. It sounds cheap.
