Yeah, well I love the two for very different reasons.

Britney doesn't have to be a role model though. Neither does Madonna.

Oh I know, but I have to say that part of why I love Madonna so much is her strength. She's never been the victim or the mental fuck-up. I adore her for that!

Oh totally. I think we all love and respect Madonna more. If I didn't, I'd be posting my Britney love on a Britney forum. The fact that I'm casually posting about Britney on Madonna's message board says loads, I'd say.

But Brit is Brit and I won't have it any other way.

They don't, but isn't it WONDERFUL when they're strong, admirable people? There's not much to like about a junkie.

Since when do popstars have to be role models?
they don't have to be role models, but they do inspire a lot of people, whether they like it or not. the social and cultural impact of madonna's strength and determination has been academically aknowledged, her stance towards life has been celebrated through different kinds of imitation. people, especially the young ones, have always looked up to stars of popular culture in order to make themselves more appealling and, ultimately, popular. surely popstars are persons that should have the right to lead their own lives, but they should also be quite self conscious about their actions. if kylie's cancer forces a woman to get a check up, then it's equally possible that george michael's behaviour could make a young boy think it's cool enough to cruise in parks for casual sex. i'm not being judgemental, i'm just saying there are different ways for pop stardom to be perceived by its consumers. if britney is genuinely back on track, she will definitely constitute a positive role model in the future, that's how things work, really.

This is so unnecessary. Don't you think?

Britney Spears will never be Madonna. Just enjoy. It's about high time that we even have to stop clarifying this. No?

People have to realise that different people have different psyche. And Britney has had other odds against her. Her mother exploited her, right? Madonna's mom never got a chance to do that. I would die if my mom did that :(
