Colour me pleasantly surprised! This is definitely her best album since All For You. Plenty of variety in production and vocals, plus some actual tunes. Barely any slow-jam shagging songs too!

BBC Radio 1 is premiering/playing the single featuring Missy Elliot.

I guess a woman whose last two albums both peaked at #63 in the UK is more viable to their listeners than one of her contemporaries whose last two albums peaked at #2 and #1 respectively. (Payola 101.)

are they playlisting it, though? can't imagine them favouring janet when they've been scandalously boycotting the likes of madonna and kylie for the past years even though those last two had been literally their queens for decades.

I think it's a fairly dull and forgettable affair. Elevator music. Typical Janet.

having played this set just once i'm not feeling the whole return to form hype. however, i do sense some songs need some time and further listens to reveal themselves. on a more positive note, her vocal delivery is her most impressive in many, many years. and, yes, this is inarguably her best album in over a decade as all sets released in between have been incredibly shit.

Hits Daily Double:

NEW RELEASES: JANET HEADED FOR #1

Barring any “sneak attack” superstar releases, BMG’s returning icon Janet Jacksonshould easily claim the #1 spot on both the HITS sales and SPS charts next Friday with her new set, Unbreakable. Here’s what we have for Janet and the week’s other key debut, Tamar Braxton’s Calling All Lovers.

Janet Jackson (BMG) 90-105k albums, 93-108k SPS
Tamar Braxton (Epic) 38-43k, 42-47k

Unbreakable reunites Jackson with producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, with whom she created her most enduring albums, and features guest spots from J. Cole andMissy Elliott. These are, of course, very preliminary numbers. Look for updates on these and other new releases on Monday.

wow. it'gonna be be rather impressive if she manages 100k first week sales given the fact this is a low key release and she's done absolutely no promo. also, according to early uk midweek reports she's standing at number 3. there's no way the album can hold on to that position throughout the week, however even a top 10 entry should be regarded as a major accomplishment what with the two previous studio sets both peaking at SIXTY THREE.

Greatly benefiting from being her first album in 7 years. The same thing happened with Whitney's last LP.

The claws are already coming out against Madge at places like Pulse because Janet is hitting #1 and she didn't. Mind you Unbreakable is projected to sell less than RH.

M should've been #1 anyway. Didn't it actually sell more than the album at #1?

By about 10,000 copies lol.

Some weeks later the latest album from Twenty One Pilots debuted and sold 40,000 more copies than the Furious 7 Soundtrack but was behind it at #2 on the Billboard 200.

She's now predicted to do 100-110k in pure sales and 103k-113k with SPS!

Tickets for the uk your went on sale today. Having seen the set list, which is catalogue heavy, I have purchased two. Last time I saw her was back in the early 1990s.

i'm starting to love this album now. surely it's her best body of work since all for you or even the velvet rope? i'm yet to dig into the second half properly but give me some time. some fine gems on it, colour me impressed.

i'd love to see her on tour before her unavoidable permanent vegas residency, but if i couldn't bother/afford travelling abroad for the rebel heart tour, i'm sure it's more than enough i'm buying her album. well done, janet.
