WHY must she always have a ton of dancers?

To distract from her innate lack of charisma and stage presence.

That's not true and you know it. Janice OWNS the stage.

Hmm. How come her live shows are so kak then?

Because she is the one owning the stage

She has showmanship. She's not creative and doesn't work with creative people staging her shows BUT she does have charisma.

I guess. I have enjoyed some of her individual TV show performances etc. I find her shows really dull as a whole though. Same old thing all the time. Lack of creativity as you say.

Don't know if this is an official cover for FB but I like it. Simplistic.

She truly doesn't. Have you seen her live?

And while I realize this is all subjective, I saw her live in '01, and it was and still is the worst and most boring show I've seen. She had no presence, was completely lost in the scenery (she had used and abused by that point), and mimed most of the show.

Her showmanship is seriously lacking. Even in her one-off performances. It's always a rehash of something she'd done 15-20 years prior... and mimed.

As for the album, a third of it is worth listening to, but the rest is turdlicious. She has yet again dropped the ball and deserves to flop.

Frankly, I wanted this to be a good album, as I used to be a loon. But it's overall crap, especially that hideous title track. I've seen many (and not just here) refer to it as a saving grace for the album. How so? It's another lame variation of her getting off on record. It's straight up nasty and uninteresting.

No wonder no one but pop freaks like ourselves give a shit about her these days.

She's a Jackson - they get very stuck in themselve :(

Still luff them though

I seriously like the album. I think it's good. Definitely her best since Velvet Rope.

I completely agree with that. It's a shame that while there are still some of us who really, really *want* to like her, she makes it so difficult to.

She's in complete rut.

Well I think some of us do "sort of" like it. It's not a total disaster by any means, but in terms of what she really *NEEDS* to deliver at this point, it's not even close.

... and there's me who still hasn't friggin heard it yet!!!

I'll probably just enjoy it for what it is though. I've listened to the 6 tracks or whatever more times than the whole of 20YO in a week so :rah:

Well that I do agree with. For her to save her career she did really need to deliver a masterpiece, and a masterpiece this ain't... But as I said, I think it's good. It has some of her best songs in a LONG time: Feedback, Luv, Rock With U, Can't B Good, Never Letchu Go, Greatest X... But yeah, of course it doesn't come close to her earlier work. But I do think it's her best since Velvet Rope.

I kind of agree... but do you think the idea that that kind of pop music isn't alive anymore. It'll be a huge surprise to me if a pop artist makes something that's like amazing.... like in the 80s and 90s.

Well yeah, it's WAY better than "20 Y.O." but in fairness, I've listened to the death throes of a gazelle on the nature channel that sounded better than that.

Eh...I *totally* disagree!

Have you heard of a singer called Madonna? She's doing rather well for herself making amazing pop music.

I was just about to say that.
