Can someone please explain to me why this song is being RAVED about by the likes of Pitchfork, The Guardian and most of the posters on Popjustice and ATRL?

I'm mystified.

Pitchfork is hipster irony, the rest are kissing her ass because she's a post-MJ death Jackson.

Is it wrong that I like "No Sleeep"? It's no masterpiece, but this is classic Janet....takes me back to 1993 all over again.

I keep hearing this "classic Janet" stuff. This in no way is my idea of "classic Janet". Classic Janet Jackson to me are fantastic, thrilling, hugely melodic affairs like Escapade, Rhythm Nation, Love Will Never Do, What Have You Done For Me Lately?, Nasty, Miss You Much, If, Black Cat, Together Again etc.

The worst part of her albums for me were always the dull, slow-jams that clogged up the end. They eventually took over to the point where most of her albums now consist of nothing but "come fuck my wet pierced pussy up a dark alley in the rain" type affairs. They are profoundly dull and uninteresting. I could never, ever get excited about a song as banal as "No Sleeep".

I agree with Riv, her slow jams, with the exception of That's The Way Love Goes and On and On, bore me rigid.

She needs a balls-out belter to come back with.

Janet Jackson scores the week's second-highest debut, as "No Sleeep" enters at No. 67, marking her milestone 40th Hot 100 hit, and her first since 2008.

Blimey. Think what Living For Love could have done without leaks and early iTunes releases.

I guess Madonna really should just go away for a while
Was that based on sales or streams ?

Yeah I know, I meant to say did she actually sell many singles or did she chart thanks to streams and/or airplay

I think I read somewhere that it sold 67,000 copies. Doesn't sound that big, so I guess the streaming helped a lot.

I think you're overestimating a #67 Hot 100 debut lmao.

Yeah, it's not THAT great. LFL would probably have had the same debut if it had been released the same way.
