Hello, it’s Saturday Night Live with some good news: Adele will be making her return to the show as a musical guest Nov. 21 when Matthew McConaughey hosts.

Adele keeps breaking records. In three days, “Hello” has sold more than 750k across all platforms and could possibly finish the week with 1 million-plus. That follows the single’s new one-day record of 400k-plus.

Per label sources, "Hello" also set the single-day U.S. streaming record on Saturday with a whopping 2.3m total streams. The previous record-holder was Columbia labelmate One Direction’s “Drag Me Down,” with 1.8m U.S. in its first day. And it's not like Adele is driving fans to Spotify and Apple Music to get those numbers, as Bieber and 1D have done. Indeed, she's not doing anything—it's happening organically.

Adele's 'Hello' Aiming for Record U.S. Digital Sales Week

Adele’s new single “Hello” is off to a blazing start, and could post the largest ever U.S. digital sales week for a song, according to industry sources.

The track, released through XL Recordings/Columbia Records on Oct. 23, could challenge the current one-week sales record holder: Flo Rida’s “Right Round.” It sold 636,000 downloads in is debut frame (week ending Feb. 15, 2009), according to Nielsen Music. (Adele’s largest sales week for a song was earned by “Rolling in the Deep,” which shifted 353,000 in the frame ending May 15, 2011.)

Sources suggest that “Hello” already sold roughly 450,000 in its first two days on sale. The debut week sales of "Hello" (ending Oct. 29) is scheduled to be announced on Monday, Nov. 2.

Radio on Adele's 'Hello': 'She Can Make You Feel What She Feels'

Such robust sales for “Hello” would make the song a serious contender for No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 to be revealed that same day. Adele has previously led the list three times, with “Rolling In the Deep,” “Someone Like You” and “Set Fire to the Rain.”

“Hello” is the lead single from Adele’s third studio album, 25, due out on Nov. 20

This morning Billboard published a hilariously transparent article about how Taylor Swift was "still" dominating 2015, because her latest single hit #1 on one of their individual/separate radio format charts. Either they're stirring the stan pot for clicks or Taylor's team have been very "supportive' of the magazine recently.

Adele is slated to perform on Saturday Night Live on 11/21, the night after her wildly anticipated 25 is released. She'll also be taping her Radio City Music Hall special on 11/17, with insiders saying it will likely air sometime over Thanksgiving week. You might want to start clearing those 1,146 episodes of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit off your DVR to make room.

Even if she opens massive the fact that her 2nd week starts on Black Friday will soften the drop.

Hey now, she did a shitload of promo for RH. It just doesn't matter when radio refuses to put your new material in heavy or even mid level rotation.

Indeed. Promo has absolutely nothing to do with why RH flopped. People simply don't care for her anymore.

Eh, no. That's not true, and not my point at all.

RH has sold over 800,000 globally, which puts it firmly in the middle among recent studio albums by major acts. It didn't outright smash because radio will not play, to any notable degree, new songs by a 57 year old woman. People en mass are not going to buy an album when it's not getting any radio exposure at it's corresponding format(s). Especially in this already abysmal market.

You say people don't care for her anymore. If that were true "Ghosttown" wouldn't be getting the ecstatic reactions from everyone in the crowd when she performs it on tour, and not just the stans in costume on the floor, that is has been. "Bitch I'm Madonna" wouldn't be pushing 140 million views for it's main upload on YouTube, despite not being sent to a single radio format for adds and getting only one televised performance weeks before the video release. And before you mention it, the like/dislike ratio has improved dramatically since the lambs and little monsters of the internet rushed in to dislike it.

As I've said here before, the last solo single by an act over 50 to make the Top 10 of the Hot 100, let alone #1, was Cher's "Believe" in 1999. 16 years ago, and that was the epitome of a fluke. Madonna isn't hated by everyone, and songs like "Ghosttown" decimate anything Top 40 is currently obsessing over in every artistic and talent-related metric. She's simply a 33 year veteran in the most youth obsessed industry on the planet.

By 'people' I mean the general public, not her fans. And 'Bitch I'm Madonna" has 140 million views for all the wrong reasons, I'm afraid.

The market has changed, music culture too. And yes, ageism is very much alive. I do enjoy HC for what it is though, it's strongest work since Confessions.

Rolling In The Deep producer Paul Epworth pops up on the ghostly hymn of I Miss You. Adele nods along, eyes tight shut. It's about sex, right? She breaks out another huge laugh. "It's about intimacy on every level. It's about sex, it's about arguing, one of the most intimate moments in my life. 'Cause you just blurt it out. It's a bit like, a drunk tongue is an honest one. That's definitely my motto, in life. That's why I don't really like drinking no more. The panic you get when you wake up the next morning."
Quote:
When We Were Young could be the album's Rolling In The Deep. A great big fat love song, it's a 70s styled shimmery disco ballad produced by Ariel Rechtshaid and co-written with Tobias Jesso Jr., an unknown (until Adele tweeted about him to her 23.4m followers) who she discovered after hearing his song Hollywood. She flew to LA and recorded it on Philip Glass's piano, as you do, at Tobias's friend's nan's house in Brentwood. "It used to be this mad party house and for some reason his piano was there so we wrote the song on that."
Quote:
A Million Years Ago, produced again by Kurstin channels Celia Cruz's Tito Puente years and puts more tears in our eyes. Well, my eyes. I miss the air/ I miss my friends/ I miss my mother/ I miss it when life was a party to be thrown /but that was a million years ago. "Do you really like that one?" she says looking genuinely surprised. "That only went on the record three days ago, right at the last minute. It's very stripped-back, it's very 19. It's just me on guitar."
Quote:
River Lea [Danger Mouse] is a Hometown 3.0 of sorts. 'When I grew up as a child I grew up on the River Lea/ Now there's some of that water in me. To wit: I'll never change. Tottenham is my mind, body and soul.'
Quote:
The Bruno Mars one [All I Ask] is all sorts of everything. 'We was gonna make something cool, but then we were having too much fun.' It throws every piece of Barbara Streisand, Bette Midler diva shtick at the wall to immense, overwhelming effect. It even has a key change. It's brilliantly ridiculous. "I've never sung so hard in me whole life. Can you imagine the fun me and Bruno had making that?" Yes, frankly.
Quote:
she went to New York to work with Ryan Tedder, the OneRepublic frontman with whom she'd made Turning Tables and Rumour Has It. What did come out of their time in New York was the song Remedy, about her best friend and her grandparents and her boyfriend, but mostly about her son, who she had with Simon Konecki
Quote:
[Max Martin] Send My Love To Your New Lover is a bit like Martin's Can't Feel My Face for the Weeknd - totally unexpected. It has a bit of a calypso vibe ("It's a bit of fun, innit? You ain't got to be dark all the time") and an amazing opening line: This was all you/ none of it me. "I love it, it's ****ing sick," she says. "Straight away, a million people in my life will be like, 'Oh ****, what have I done...'"
