This will end up pushing her debut album over 1 million scanned. Without any notable airplay at Pop radio, mind you. RITD is supposedly #1 at AAA (Adult Alternative) radio and approaching the Top 20 at Hot AC in the US. |

Adele "s**tting it" over US album release Adele has revealed that she is nervous about releasing her latest record in the US. The singer, whose sophomore effort 21 is on course to top the UK album chart for a fifth week, admitted that she is "s**tting it" over its Stateside release. "I'm in NY at the moment, doing Letterman tonight and off to LA tomorrow if the snow stops," she told The Sun. "The album is out here tomorrow too, I'm s**tting myself." On hitting the top spot with current track 'Someone Like You' - her first chart-topping single - she confessed: "I am absolutely speechless. I didn't know what to do with myself when I found out 'Someone Like You' was number one!" "That song is so special to me and it's even more so now, thank you so much. And who the hell is still buying the album at home?" 21 currently sits at number one on the US iTunes chart. |

Adele matches the Beatles in latest chart success Singer becomes first living artist since the Fab Four to have two releases in each of the top five singles and album charts at once Adele has become the first artist since the Beatles to have two top five singles and two top five albums in the charts at the same time. Buoyed by her rendition at last week's Brit awards, the singer's newest single, Someone Like You, jumped 46 spots to become her first No 1 hit. That song joins Rolling in the Deep, which sits at No 4; on the album charts, Adele's first two LPs – 21 and 19 – are also at No 1 and No 4 respectively. "It's amazing," Adele told BBC Radio 1. "I've never had a No 1 single [before]. I'm probably annoying everyone as well, as I cried at the Brits and everything. I'm just so overwhelmed – I can't believe the response to it." The last time an artist had top five hits on both charts, Sir Alec Douglas-Home was prime minister. It was January 1964: Britain and America were in the throes of Beatlemania, with I Want to Hold Your Hand and She Loves You filling the airwaves while the albums With the Beatles and Please Please Me flew off the shelves. Then again, I Want to Hold Your Hand was the first single to have an advance order of a million copies; Someone Like You has sold just over 100,000 copies since its release. Adele isn't the only one to have received a chart boost from a performance at the Brits. Although the televised ceremony was the lowest-rated Brits broadcast in five years, total album sales for Brits artists were up 70%, according to the Official Charts Company. Laura Marling's album I Speak Because I Can was the biggest gainer, leaping from No 80 to No 21. Mumford & Sons' Sigh No More, named British album of the year, climbed from No 15 to No 2 on its 72nd week in the chart. |

Adele storms in at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart with her sophomore album "21" selling a mighty 352,000 copies in its first week according to Nielsen SoundScan. It's her best sales week -- and highest charting album -- and also the highest frame for any album since the sales week ending Nov. 28, 2010. That's when Kanye West's "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy" and Nicki Minaj's "Pink Friday" started in the Nos. 1 and 2 slots, respectively, with 496,000 and 375,000. Notably, "21" also bows atop the Digital Albums chart with 217,000 downloads -- 62% of the set's overall first week. Again, it's the fattest week for a digital set since West's "My Beautiful" moved 224,000 downloads in its premiere. Adele: The Billboard Cover Story Adele, who took home the best new artist Grammy award in 2009, reached No. 10 with her debut set "19." It has spent a total of 71 weeks on the tally and has shifted 948,000 copies in the U.S. This week, it bounds 50-16 on the Billboard 200, giving the singer a pair of albums in the top 20. It's the first time an act has placed their first two releases concurrently in the top 20 since Justin Bieber did it on June 5, 2010 with "My World" and "My World 2.0." This week, "Rolling In the Deep" -- "21's" first single -- vaults 13-7 on the Digital Songs chart, moving 151,000 (up 26%). To date, since its release to retailers on Nov. 30 of last year, it has sold 621,000. Another "21" song, "Someone Like You," which she has been performing to great reaction on a number of TV shows lately, bows at No. 45 with 51,000. Adele memorably sung "Someone Like You" on the Brit Awards on Feb. 16 and in two weeks' time, its two clips with the most views on YouTube have racked up 3.3 million views. (To compare, Rihanna also performed on the Brits, singing a medley of songs from her "Loud" album and its most-viewed clips have tallied 1.3 million views.) |

http://www.hitsdailydouble.com/news/rumormill.cgi After exploding onto the chart this week, Adele repeats at #1 with a second-week drop of less than 60% - a somewhat rare occurrence, especially for a title with such a large digital component. Here's how it looks headed into the weekend: Adele (XL/Columbia) 145-160k *Marsha Ambrosius (J/RMG) 85-90k Mumford & Sons (Glassnote) 55-60k Justin Bieber Never Say Never (Island/IDJ) 50-55k Now 37 (Capitol/EMI) 50-55k *Dropkick Murphys (Dropkick Murphys/ILG) 35-40k| Bruno Mars (New Elektra) 30-35k *Aaron Lewis (Stroudavarious) 30-35k Justin Bieber My World 2.0 (Island/IDJ) 30-35k Nicki Minaj (Young Money/Cash Money/Universal Motown) 28-32k Rihanna (Def Jam/IDJ) 28-32k Pink (LaFace/JLG) 27-30k Eminem (Shady/Aftermath/Interscope) 24-27k Katy Perry (Capitol/EMI) 24-27k Jason Aldean (Broken Bow) 21-24k *Lucinda Williams (Lost Highway) 21-24k Lady Antebellum (Capitol Nashville/EMI) 21-24k *Debuts (3/3p) |
