Apparently, Americans have good taste this time around, no pun.
Michael Jackson's lowest point is still more tolerable than SuBo and Taylor Swift, the top 2 this week here

Mercury, Jackson duets to be released?

Collaborations between Michael Jackson and Freddie Mercury are being lined up for release, it has been reported.

The pair of late icons worked with each other during the 1980s on demos for tracks that were never officially released.

One such track was 'State of Shock' that later became a hit for Jackson and Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger, though more demos exist and are allegedly being prepped for release.

"We are now working on some never-before-released songs that Freddie made with Michael in the early-'80s," Queen drummer Roger Taylor told a Belgian magazine, according to 411 Mania. "I'm not allowed to say too much about it but they sound incredible."

It would be the second album of posthumous songs by Jackson following the release of Michael back in December.

No record company execs seem to understand that Michael jackson fans as a whole dont seem to care about his new, unearthed songs.

The last album should have sold by the millions, but the fans dont want an album of unfinished produced by other people.

Even another repackaged Greatest Hits would be more successful than a crappily cobbled together collections demos.

The thing is MJ reportedly had a shitload of finished album leftovers, not just demos.

THAT is what Sony needs to release.

NEW YORK, March 31, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- On May 13, Epic Records, in conjunction with the Estate of Michael Jackson, will release XSCAPE, an album of new music by the internationally beloved music icon and King of Pop, Michael Jackson. The project features eight new tracks, which the world will be hearing for the very first time on the new album. For the ultimate fan experience, XSCAPE will also be available in a Deluxe Edition, which includes all of the sourced Michael Jackson recordings in their original form.

The XSCAPE standard and Deluxe Edition's are available for pre-order beginning April 1 on iTunes.com/MichaelJackson and elsewhere, and available at all retailers worldwide on May 13.

XSCAPE is executive produced by Epic Records Chairman and CEO L.A. Reid, who, after an initial mining of Jackson's archives by the Estate, was granted unlimited access to the treasures representing four decades of material on which Jackson had completed his vocals.

Reid curated the final list of recordings to deliver to the producers, who retooled the production to add a fresh, contemporary sound that retains Jackson's essence and integrity. It's a process Reid calls "contemporizing." The album's lead producer, Timbaland was one of a handful of producers Reid believed had the gravitas, depth and range to creatively engage with Jackson's work. Additional producers include global hitmakers Rodney Jerkins, Stargate, Jerome "Jroc" Harmon and John McClain.

"Modern music and artistry would look and sound completely different if not for the groundbreaking contributions Michael Jackson gifted to the world," remarked L.A. Reid. "Michael left behind some musical performances that we take great pride in presenting through the vision of music producers that he either worked directly with or expressed strong desire to work with. We are extremely proud and honored to present this music to the world."

The title of this album honors Michael's album naming process. He always chose a song from the album to name his projects and, beginning with THRILLER, used only one word titles, each with an edgy quality to them. This is true of the new project. Written by Michael Jackson and Jerkins, and produced by Jackson and Jerkins, "Xscape" has further significance in that it is the one track on the album that was 'contemporized' by the producer who recorded it originally in the studio with Michael.

John Branca and John McClain, co-executors of the Estate of Michael Jackson said,
"Michael was always on the cutting edge and was constantly reaching out to new producers, looking for new sounds. He was always relevant and current. These tracks, in many ways, capture that spirit. We thank L.A. Reid for his vision."

XSCAPE is a long awaited collection of exciting new music that will thrill the legions of fans of one of the world's most revered and best-selling artists, as well as attract a whole new generation discovering his artistry for the first time. In conjunction with the release of XSCAPE, Epic / Sony Music will launch an unprecedented global campaign with the One Sony sister companies, Sony Corporation, Sony Mobile Communications, and Sony Network Entertainment International drawing from all of Sony's strengths and consumer reach.

"Michael has long been a treasured member of the larger Sony family," said Kazuo Hirai, President and CEO, Sony Corporation. "Starting with the release of 'Off The Wall' in 1979, Sony Music Entertainment has since released all of Michael's recordings. We are thrilled and privileged to be collaborating as One Sony to celebrate Michael's latest legacy, and bringing his fans an exclusive experience through our upcoming initiatives with our products and services."
More news about Michael Jackson's upcoming album will be revealed in the coming weeks. Keep visiting www.michaeljackson.com for new details.

I love shit like this.

1.) A year after his death his estate was claiming he had sold 750 million records. They honestly want us to believe he has sold another 250 million albums and singles in the last few years?

2.) MJDangerous, a complete MJ loon that used to post at UKMix, had complete chart and sales histories for Michael and concluded that after the spike in sales due to his death his global album and single sales had only hit 350 million at best.

Digital Spy album review:

Michael Jackson's new album Xscape: How good is it?
By Lewis Corner

It's the news fans have been expecting for a while now - Michael Jackson has a 'new' album of previously unheard material coming out in May.

Naturally, posthumous albums completely divide opinion. One side doesn't want to resign themselves to the fact they will never hear anything new from their idol ever again, while the other argues their loyalty to protecting the legacy left behind. Considering the tepid response to MJ's first posthumous release Michael, we can see why the latter may ring truer when it comes to forthcoming album Xscape.

Truth is, while Jackson's estate may be scraping the barrel to stitch together yet another money-spinning collection, we have to remember that it's a pretty astonishing barrel to be scraping. After listening to Xscape for the first time, you're left with the sense that only the very best of what Jackson has left behind has been "contemporised", and nothing more.

The first track bursts with flourishing strings, before layering on '80s disco beats and crisp finger clicks. "The night is going to be just fine," Michael assures us - and while the standard could never reach his pop peak, the groove of the track is soaked in nostalgia. We should probably note at this point that we don't know any titles for the tracks yet, because they haven't been finalised.

Jackson practically gave birth to the genre 'dirty-pop', and track two throws back to that period when you wouldn't see him on stage without bolshy bass and hip-pop beats. "She lied to you/ She lied to me," he proclaims in his trademark growl, while the following cut is a flowing '80s-tinged serenade with orchestral bursts and choral harmonies. While we've been told that a range of producers such as Timbaland, Darkchild, Stargate and Jroc have "contemporised" the original demos, it's clear that they've also paid homage to the sound that turned MJ into a cultural icon.

Most of Xscape nods back to the height of Jackson's pop appeal. We haven't been told when each of the tracks originated from, but their final form echoes MJ's holy trinity of albums Off The Wall, Thriller and Bad. The fifth song we were played opens with computerized synths as the star's iconic ad libs of "hee-hee" and "aaaow" smack you with excitement. Echoed snare beats and a storming rawk guitar solo make it one of the stand-out tracks, even if the chorus does hear him dubiously ask: "Do you know where your children are?"

Track number six - which we identified as 'Slave to the Rhythm' - begins with a massive string-led swoosh of scenic proportions, before it completely drops into glitchy electronics and rattling beats. Its shuffling groove marks it as classic MJ, making it yet another highlight. Even better, Justin Bieber doesn't feature on the track after that worrying leak of an alternative version back in 2013.

Quincy Jones may not have had a hand in the project, but the cinematic quality to the songs demonstrates that the school of producers who made contributions to this record have obviously been influenced by his techniques. Song number seven - which might be called 'Blue Gangsta' - opens with Bond Theme-styled strings and tinned beats, before hearing Michael complain: "Look what you've done to me/ I can no longer smile." Xscape's overarching narrative is what we've always loved about Jackson; the superstar who is unlucky in love, but never doubts its power.

The posthumous collection concludes with title track 'Xscape', which we know was originally written by Jackson and Rodney Jerkins during the Invincible sessions. It's the only track which has been re-worked by its original producer, and hears turn-of-the-millennium Jackson snarl over a mix of '70s disco and '90s R&B. Its potential for some other-worldly choreography is palpable, which provokes a sad tinge of what could've been.

So, is Xscape any good? There's been a concerted effort to recapture Jackson during his imperial phase in the '80s; the music god who effortlessly rolled soul, R&B, electronica, rock and pop into soundscapes of brilliance. No, it's not as good as Michael at his very best, but then again, it never was going to be.

That said, it's a considered and worthy collection of reworked gems that remind you of just how important Michael Jackson was - and let's face it, not many other artists can release their cutting room floor cast-offs and it can still sound this good.

Michael Jackson's new album Xscape will be released worldwide on May 13. Sony Mobile customers of select new devices, including Xperia Z2, Xperia Z2 tablet and Xperia M2, will be able to download the new album for free on day of digital release through the Xperia Lounge app.

I don't like the idea that they have all been tweaked and reworked. Not releasing the original unreleased tracks sort of misses the point of "opening the vault."

Still to this day there is no music market over there. Nobody sold anything notable there. MJDangerous didn't just have certifications, he had published sales and year end sales reports from the label. Everything you can imagine. No recording act, the Beatles included, has ever come anywhere near 1 billion records sold.
