Was the kid chewing gum throughout Heal The World one of his? He deserves to be bitch-slapped. How incredibly disrespectful.

Dreadful. I think it's *disgusting* actually. Why didn't someone make them spit it out? Ugh.

- What about ALL the sun glasses? It made me  .

- Janet was the real star obviously. And what was going on at the end when everyone gathered on the stage except for the dad? Must be the most hated person on the planet.

- Where was OPRAH?

- Senate woman or whatever she was representing was FABULOUS.

- The speech of Marlon made me quite sad... :(

thank god for the internet, or else i wouldn't be able to watch the whole thing by being at work and all. live streaming on mtv.com was perfect!

mariah was the epitome of car crash, totally embarrassing
stevie wonder on the other hand was fuckin fantastic
brooke shields looked genuinely heartbroken
omg at the senator, she was :wowwow: please god, let her be the next president
his eldest son chewing gum-what was wrong with him? so disrespectful
latoya did her best to wow the crowds with the fabulous hat, but then the one who stole the show was
JANET. what a classy look! she really pulled it off with dignity and seemed like one of the very few family members that were not faking their devastation. the sunglasses. the pearls. the hairdo. pure perfection.

janet highlights:
"speak up, sweetheart, speak up"
paris hugging her right before janet takes her off stage.
COMEBACK OF THE YEAR. she only needs to record a decent pop album and it'll be 1993 all over again for her

who cares if they were chewing gum? They have just lost their only parent, are being paraded on tv for the first time in their lives in front of 300 million people world wide.

If somehing as trivial aa chewing gum helped get them through the most traumatic day of their young lives then good for them. The fact we are focusing on this is plain silly.their father spent his life making them wear masks to keep away from the public eye, now he's dead and they are by forced into taking part in that awkward finale.

ThAt was more disturbing than their chewing gum.

Highlights;
1. 'I AM CONGRESSWOMAN SHEILA JACKSON LEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!...IF A HOSPITAL NEEDED BEDS, HE BUILT THEM...'
2. Stevie Wonder - fantastic performance
3. Mariah's performance - her voice is in ruins. I love it
4. Janet's appearance. She looked FIERCE! Work that string of pearls! I smell a comeback.
5. LaToya's hat
6. Jermaine's song - I was impressed he held it together
7. John Mayer - I got urges that I am sure are inappropriate at funerals.

Lowlights:
1. Paris Jackson - that was so incredibly sad.
2. Usher - yuk - how inappropriate was he - touching the coffin while singing to it.
3. The fat kid from Britain's Got Talent - WTF!
4. Diana Ross being absent - hope she's not drinking a barrel of whisky to console herself
5. Brooke Shields seemed a bit fake - apparently it's been years since she's seen him
6. Rev Al Sharpton - "MICHAEL HAD US SINGING 'WE ARE THE WORLD, LONG BEFORE LIVE AID!!!!' Oh really Rev Sharpton
7. Janet looking so out of place on a stage with live microphones.

well, i'm not against people chewing gum for any reason, yet the boy wouldn't be traumatized for not doin so throughout a couple of hours. but then nobody's aware of what was going on in this boy's mind, after all he did try to seek comfort when hugging his auntie's back right after his sister collapsed.

It's rude and disrespectful. There's no way I would ever chew gum at a funeral...of anyone's...at ANY age.

I don't give a damn what age anyone is. They should not have been doing it. If I was their age and had gum in my mouth at my parent's funeral, I would expect an adult to make me remove it. There is no excuse for it.

I agree with Glam about Brooke Shields. All I could think when she had finished was "Gosh, what a good actress."
