He should just re-record "Faith 90" for a new generation.

George Michael has claimed that the Spice Girls changed the British music industry for female singers.

Speaking to In:Demand, the 47-year-old said that the girl group were to thank for encouraging today's crop of female talent, including the likes of Adele and Jessie J.

"I know people don't take them seriously, but I think the Spice Girls changed the entire landscape and British music's massively under-exploited female talent," Michael said.

"These girls now that are out there are absolutely giving the Americans a run for their money. They come from that generation that ran around the playgrounds going 'Girl Power'."

He added: "I think that's fantastic."

I do think he has a valid point
I don't like that Jessie J though, she seems fun but that Price Tag song is god awful

I bought this today on 7digital.

I'm officially the only person on the planet who actually rather likes it. :alexz:

I know...I think. I still love it. I'd prefer a non-vocodered version, but I really like it. Plus I love what he's done with the melody.

that's pretty much the right ranking of his studio albums. he really did loose his creative steam right after older, even he's never released anything below decent.

it's a shame really how his career has developed through the past decade. up to the late 90s, he was the ultimate male popstar, at least in europe, that is. ladies and gentlemen-the best of i'd classify it as the second most important pop hits collection to have emerged in the past 20 years- second only to the immaculate collection.

I agree. He really was like the male Madonna, moreso even than Michael Jackson. His music was so intelligent, but also highly commercial. He had it all and pretty much threw it away.

That's what drugs does kids.

Totally agree. I think Faith is one of the best albums from the last century.
'Songs from...' should come at the end.

He looks quite fit now. I really hope there will be a new album. If so, that year could become even more interesting

George Michael slams "hacks and haters"

George Michael has hit out at journalists who he claims have tried to "kill" his Comic Relief single.

The singer has released a cover of New Order's 'True Faith' with all proceeds going to the charity. However, writing on Twitter, Michael insisted that he still has a loyal fanbase who support him.

"'True Faith' at no2 in the UK iTunes video chart, CD no1 for the 18th day on Amazon Uk, and went from 55 to 18 on the airplay chart," he wrote. "So thank you all, and f**k the journos who are trying to kill the record. Which, by the way, they do pretty much every time, lol (sic)"

He continued: "What makes me laugh is that after 30 yrs they still act as if it's newsworthy that I don't sell to kids/ the singles market the way I did :) Face it paps, hacks and haters... The album will sell great, the tour will sell out, and the fans remain some of the loyalest in the world. Nothing you can do about that..."

The 47-year-old, who also appeared in James Corden's Red Nose Day sketch, added: "So keep swinging at me....it's quite fun that you still love to hate me!!"

That song really is sublime. I reckon it's my favourite George song too. Utterly timeless, beautiful and heartbreaking.
