It's playing in the office right now - cant say i am overly impressed on a first play basis.

The 'here come the girls bit' is very dominant in the chorus and the while thing just sounds a little lazy.

Meh. I always get excited for new material but then it turns out to be three great tracks and filler. I converted to the Girls Aloud cult years ago.
How ironic then that you've just described to a tee, a typical Girls Aloud album. There's never any more than about 3 or 4 decent tracks on a GA album.

It's very catchy and will be a big hit for them, but yeah it's quite lazy. They've just concocted a mediocre song to hang off that "Here come the girls" bit. It has nothing else going for it really.

Christ, I knew someone would do something with that bloody Boots advert song. I just didn't think it would be one of the UK's "premier pop bands".

I think it will nevertheless be a huge hit. All first single releases by them seem to hit number one now, no matter how good the quality.

This last album has performed rather badly for them compared to its predecessors hasn;t it? One hit single and two also rans before it was abandoned.

:hurt: LIES! Call The Shots has at least 8 strong tracks that all could've been released as singles and so does Chemistry.

The only track I still play off the last Sugababes album is My Love Is Pink and that's only because Xenomania did the fantastic production.

another one? UGH! they seem Bananarama in the 80s, with a new album every 6 months.

the last album underperformed due to picking the wrong singles. had they gone for the killer album tracks, it would have probably sold as much as their previous efforts.

the new single is alright, i guess. radio will love it, should end up being yet another number one for the girls.

not really, this is the first time they're releasing a new album just a year after the last one. girls aloud are also due for a comeback this fall.

the more i listen to it, the more i think this is a genious move. they just grabbed a tune that sounds like something amy or duffy would have recorded and gave it a poppier edge. they can do no wrong with that.

"My Love Is Pink" was such a fantastic track on their last album. It should have been released as a single, rather than the pleasant-but-dreary "Change".

In fairness, "About You Now" more than deserved its #1 placing. It's an absolutely cracking pop song. Still in the airplay Top 50!

I think they have had much better number ones than the Since You've been Gone soundalike About You Now. Freak Like me, Round Round and Push The Button were so much better.

Yes, they were all better, but it still deserved to be #1. It was a massive, massive hit. Just because you don't like it, doesn't mean millions of others people don't.

Oh, and it pisses all over that "Since You've Been Gone" shouty, rock-lite wank.

Riverwide, really, if we would be living together we would be fighting over music all day. :lol2:

Anyway, I think Hole In The Head is the best Sugababe single with Round Round very close.
