for some strange reason, it pleases me that robbie's career becomes totally dependant on gary's songwriting talent. he may be a charismatic performer and may have been lucky bringing out the hits while guy chambers was on board, but it looks like he's realised his future is connected to take that in one way or another. with this move, gary proves 1.he's always been the talented one and 2. revenge is best when served cold |

Gary's songwriting talent is utterly undeniable, but he could never work a crowd the way Robbie does! That's what makes them a great band I think. They have the musicianship in Gary and the showmanship in Robbie...the others are the filler. ![]() But yeah, I agree that it's good Robbie has realised how instrumental Gary has been in his success and is embracing that. If it wasn't for Gary, Williams would never have had even a sniff of a solo career. |

Robbie Williams confirms new solo album, moves to Universal Robbie Williams has confirmed plans to release a new solo album as part of his new record deal. The singer announced that he will unveil his ninth studio LP next autumn after signing a deal with Universal Music. Williams was previously signed to major label EMI, but his contract with the company ended following the release of 2009's Reality Killed The Video Star. Confirming the move on his official blog, Williams explained: "I'm really thrilled to be joining the Universal family at what I think is the most exciting time in my career." Universal Music Group Chairman/CEO Lucian Grainge said: "What a thrill this announcement is. To be working with Robbie and his team, and to have the opportunity to support this incredible stage of his career, makes life so exciting." Universal Music UK chairman and CEO David Joseph added: "Having had the chance to listen to the music I've no doubt that Robbie is currently at his most creatively inspired. We are about to witness something very special." Williams is currently recording the project in his own studio in Los Angeles and the record will be issued worldwide through Universal Music. The 37-year-old has sold over 60 million albums throughout his career and has won more Brit Awards than any other artist in history. |

Robbie Williams to premiere new single on September 3? Robbie Williams has posted a cryptic countdown on his official website. The 'Bodies' singer's main homepage features a single portion of his head, along with the date "03.09.12". His official Facebook and Twitter pages also posted the image, with the caption: "Countdown: Day 1." The date is most likely connected with his upcoming new single, which may either receive its premiere airing or a download release on the specified date. The new single has yet to receive an official title, but several publications such as the Daily Mail have stated that both his new single and album will be called 'Vertigo'. Williams was recently seen filming the video for the single in East London, which included him in full medieval armour on a horse. He revealed last month that his upcoming ninth studio album is near completion. The Take That star is also expecting his first child with wife Ayda Field in the coming weeks.

I heard part of the video shoot on utube. Kinda like Tripping, but way more commercial to the levels it won't sell... Hope for the best, love him. |

03 Sep 2012 We can finally reveal that Robbie's new album, entitled Take The Crown, is released later this year on 5th November! Even better news is that you can pre-order it right now to make sure it's yours the moment the release date rolls around. “After the Take That reunion – a busman’s holiday, a break from my career which re-energised me in many, many ways – I wanted to come back with a massive solo album," said Robbie about his forthcoming release. "My main priority was to write what I consider, and hopefully what the world would consider, to be hits. I’m very excited”. So are we! Music industry magazine, Music Week, have already had a sneak listen and are singing Take The Crown's praises: “Take The Crown is the big, brash, confident Robbie Williams pop record that his fans have been longing for but maybe didn't dare expect. If it had a sub-title it would be ’In Case You'd Forgotten’. Not wishing to denigrate the art of the record executive, but Island may as well have chosen the lead single by chucking a dart at the inlay sleeve. They couldn't have missed. Because there are no misses. Just hits - huge pop hits.” Wow! And for those of you who simply can't wait until 5th November for a taster of Take The Crown, you'll be pleased to know that the first single to be released from the album, Candy, will land on 29th October. A brilliantly addictive classic pop song written with Gary Barlow, this is what Robbie had to say about the track: “It’s a summer song, very much in a similar vein to ‘Rock DJ’, about a girl who thinks she’s great. And she might be, but she’s a bit nefarious with her ways. Some songs take an age to write and some songs just fall out of your mouth completely formed, and you don’t have to think about it. I don’t know why that fell out of my mouth and out of my brain at that particular time – it just did.” PRE-ORDER TAKE THE CROWN NOW! The album is available in two editions; standard and deluxe. Both are available on CD and as a digital download. In addition, there will also be a double vinyl available, which will be limited and numbered. Stay tuned to RobbieWilliams.com for more details on this special format. The standard CD is available with a choice of covers; 'Roar' (limited to only the first production run of the CD, so it won't be around for long!) and 'Regal'. http://www.robbiewilliams.com/news-blogs/take-the-crown-new-album-out-5th-november |

Cannot fucking wait. I love Robbie. The last album was his weakest IMO but his stamp was all over Progression. I think when he's at his best he's one of the best popstars we've ever had. Fingers crossed for this release. Also, don't know why but I like the cover! It kind of reminds me of this:

I love the cover. Incredibly striking. The gold leaps out from that blue. It'll look fantastic on record store shelves. |

It's a striking cover for all the wrong reasons. Shitteous. Makes the cover of Hard Candy look artistic. |

Nah, I think it's brilliantly designed. Very simple and graphic. I'm sure the colour scheme is intended to be visually jarring. |

I think it was intended to look regal but falls on the wrong side of kitsch. Maybe the physical thing looks better. |
