I love the cover. Incredibly striking. The gold leaps out from that blue. It'll look fantastic on record store shelves.
Agree! It's definately not for you to chill out for :) Just the kitsch on it's own. Love it.

Possible iconic image, if the songs are right. Hope so.

I think it was intended to look regal but falls on the wrong side of kitsch. Maybe the physical thing looks better.
There's no such thing as 'the wrong side of kitsch'. They all are wrong.

Cannot fucking wait. I love Robbie. The last album was his weakest IMO but his stamp was all over Progression. I think when he's at his best he's one of the best popstars we've ever had. Fingers crossed for this release.

Also, don't know why but I like the cover! It kind of reminds me of this:

:lol2:
Yep:)

Hope the music won't be heavy on 80's. It's getting tiresome with him.

Actually I find some kitsch hilarious and highly enjoyable. Think Material Girl performance on BA for example. This is not it.

Well, to be pedantic Anastasia is right - by definition kitsch is gaudy, tasteless and crass. That's the whole point - it can't really be too 'bad'. But I understand what your saying - that it isn't the kind of kitsch you like.

I have to say that Trippin' was the best video of the male artist in a decade.

Drop all the queeny Kayne installations, which are fine... But... But.

Another example is the giant vagina/GaGabike/meat dress performances on BTW or basically any Kylie performance from the Aphrodite tour. Someone may find them in bad taste but I think they're very entertaining. I don't know if kitsch is the right word but you get what I mean. As for liking something years later, the lack of humour or 'campness' is one of the reasons I'm not interested in Madonna shows anymore, she just takes herself too seriously. Anyway, back to Robbie.

For me it's other way around. Gaga is the one who takes herself WAY TOO SERIOUSLY with her arty stuff

For me kitsch is fun when it seems not forced, just a purposefully casual mistake of taste.
I won't like any kind of art that keeps with this joke through the whole thing. Austin Powers: no, Kill Bill: yes.

It's a striking cover for all the wrong reasons. Shitteous. Makes the cover of Hard Candy look artistic.

Agreed. And how badly is he aging. Just hideous looking now.

Robbie Williams has unveiled the cover art for his new single 'Candy'.

The track is the first to be taken from his forthcoming album Take The Crown and was co-written by his Take That bandmate Gary Barlow. The pair previously worked on Williams's single 'Shame', which was released in 2010.

"It's a summer song about a girl who thinks she's great," explained the 38-year-old singer on his official website. "And she might be, but she's a bit nefarious with her ways.

"Some songs take an age to write and some songs just fall out of your mouth completely formed, and you don't have to think about it. I don't know why that fell out of my mouth and out of my brain at that particular time - it just did."

Williams also confirmed that 'Candy' will receive its first radio play on Monday, September 10 at 8am (BST). He is expected to appear on a number of UK breakfast shows throughout the morning to promote the song.
