take the "she's Madonna's biggest obstacle in America" out of the equation, wouldn't you rather see Touch My Body at #1 than the Flusher song? I mean... Usher is everyone wrong with modern r&b IMO.

No.

Mariah is now just the female version of Usher. "TEOM" was completely modeled after "Confessions" and "We Belong Together", "Shake It Off" and "Don't Forget About Us" all sound like previous Usher hits.

"Touch My Body" is just "We Belong Together" part three or "Don't Forget About Us" part two.

It urks me how Madonna is called "calculated" when Mariah has always been way more calculated and popularity seeking/sustaining. Mariah always just goes for the most popular producers of the time and follows a certain formula, until people get sick of it. Contrary to what her fans think, she did not pioneer the singer with rapper thing and it was hardly a risk when she did it. The only risk she ever took was with her wardrobe.

Has anyone else noticed that most her albums follow the exact same formula; uptempo song, ballad about heartache, midtempo, ballad. She married Tommy Mottola for her career, she said she never really loved him. She's obsessed with getting #1's etc. To me, she is the epitome of someone who's only in it for popularity and she's everything that's wrong with music just as much as anybody else is.

I used to like Mariah's music before "Charmbracelet" and before her deluded, inane fans started being cocky because of the success of the bland "TEOM".

Mariah will shortly embark on a world promotional tour for her new album, E=MC². One of her stops will be in the United Kingdom, where she will reportedly make an appearance on the popular show, Friday Night Project. The show will be filmed on April 3rd and probably in the days leading up to that as she will need to film other bits for the show in advance. Further details will be posted as soon as they become available.

E=MC² is set for release in the UK on April 14, 2008.

I really can't surmise nor analyze why people here are trying to put negativity and being pessimistic about this song. Hell, don't know what is the universal accepted "quality" and "creativity" over an artist's ability and their products (outcome/result). Anyhow, I know that TMB is a successful song and this will be her 18th no. 1 VERY SOON. Lambs, keep on supporting Mariah, don't mind what others say. Just let other artists do their thing and we'll concentrate on our idol, our inspiration, our one and only Mariah Carey.

Fans Review E=MC² BET Special

Danny, Nik and Rory were some of the lucky Honey B. Fly fan club members who had the opportunity to be a part of the audience at Mariah's E=MC² Special taping at the BET Studios earlier tonight. These fans got to preview 3 new Mariah songs! Below are their reviews.

Danny
I arrived at BET studios at around 1:30 PM. We waited till about 4pm before we were let into the studios. We had to wait another 3 hours, and the show didn't begin until about 7:30pm.

Migrate: She had to do the song a few times. I really liked it! The first time around I barely understood any of the lyrics because of the heavy bass and all the fans screaming. It is one of her most hip-hop sounding uptempos, and will be perfect for clubs and Urban/Rap radio. T-Pain was there also as a surprise guest.

Touch My Body: Sounded really good with the live instruments. Mariah planned it well with her background performers so that she wouldn't run out of breath due to the overlapping vocals in the song. The crowd loved it and sang along. The end belting was, in my opinion, better than on the record.

Shake It Off: Not much to say here. I was hoping she wouldn't do this song, but I can understand why she did.

Love Story: Rachel's daughter and friends came out and sang the beginning harmonies acapella, then Mariah walked out and continued with them and then into the song itself. None of us knew what song it was, I actually thought it was "Thanks for Nothin'." She gave a very empassioned performance, you could see it in her eyes that she was feeling the lyrics. It was similar to the Mimi ballads, but different at the same time. I can't see it being a single, though it is a good song.

That Chick: WOW! This one left me speechless. By far, my favorite of the night. This was the song I was most looking forward to based on past reviews, and it lived up to all my expectations. First the staff gave out white boas to some people in the audience to wear. Then I heard the beat come instantly I knew it was "That Chick." It is incredible! It is pure disco mixed with a little Michael Jackson, but yet still very modern. Mariah introduced this song as "That Chick You Like," so that could possibly be the real song title. I cannot wait to hear this song again.

We Belong Together: It was a nice performance. I did not hear her cough at the end like other reviews are saying though!

All in all I had a great time seeing Mariah. Some staff members were a little rude at times, but standing 7 hours on my feet was well worth it to be one of the first to hear these new tracks.

Nik
It was amazing! Mariah was on fire! The new songs blew me away. She performed "Migrate," "Touch My Body," "Shake It Off," "Love Story," "That Chick," and "We Belong Together."

They had to do "Migrate" a few times due to technical difficulties. I won't reveal the surprise unless someone else does but a guest came out for that. It's probably one of Mariah's hottest songs in years! The beat is sick! For "That Chick," they gave the audience white feather boas. The song samples a little bit of the lyrics from Michael Jackson's "Off The Wall," it's a very disco-ish song. "Love Story" is a pure R&B midtempo ballad produced by Jermaine Dupri. Mariah said she was sick but you couldn't tell at all. She did cough at the end of "We Belong Together" after the high note but it was nothing major. They said it will air on April 16th if I'm not mistaken. Mariah also gave a lucky audience member her Roberto Cavalli shades that she said she got in Italy from the designer himself. She said they were one of a kind. That's pretty much it. There was no interview segments just the performances. Overall it was a great time for Mariah fans and a great way to hear the new songs.

Rory
Mariah is hilarious. From the second she came out on stage, Mariah was cracking jokes. Before she came out she was teasing the audience with a few notes here and there, and when she finally came out and started "Migrate," she stopped early on and said "Hold up, stop! I'm sorry... but how in the Sam Hill am I supposed to do this without my sangers..." pointing out the fact that her backup singers were not yet on stage. Then, when they had to restart "Migrate" due to technical difficulties, Mariah goes, "My name is Mariah Carey, and I am a professional. I promise!" Also, during one of the songs she took off her sunglasses and handed them to a girl. She later explained the sunglasses were given to her personally by Roberto Cavalli and that the girl better like them. When asked if she could give someone her ring, she responded, "I would, but, I'm not THAT crazy." Mariah also does a phenomenal Russian accent, and was really lighthearted and funny through all the production and work.

Mariah sounded better than she has in some time. Mariah told the crowd she had a cold, and even started coughing at the end of "We Belong Together," yet somehow sounded incredible. Mariah not only belted out of it when she had to, but it seemed a lot more effortless and easy for her. Her voice sounded extremely clear and strong. Best since the Charmbracelet Tour.

Any of the new songs could be number ones. The songs are extremely catchy, but very original and refreshing. "Migrate" and "That Chick" were definitely my two favorites.

Mariah looked incredible. That body is looking toned and sexy, and her ass and thighs are astonishing. It's funny how much more comfortable she is on stage when she's in great shape, because she wasn't doing any of those awkward poses to look slim, she was just having a great time and it looked so natural. She wore tight black legging-like pants with a tight white tanktop and a tight black sweatshirt over it.

Set List:
1. MIGRATE (featuring T-Pain)
This song is the heat. Wow, Mariah has never done a song with a hip-hop beat this hot, and she rides it confidently and perfectly. The song starts off with the trademark high notes, and launches into a hard beat and she sings over. The song is extremely melodic, and by far one of her best uptempos in some time. T-Pain came out as a surprise guest and tore it up. This will be a single very soon.

2. TOUCH MY BODY
This was Mariah's first time performing "Touch My Body," and she did a great job. She really seemed amused by the audience's love of the "I will hunt you down" line. Then, at the end Mariah got down and did a funny little dance with two of the dancers. You'll have to see it to understand but it's great.

3. SHAKE IT OFF
One of two "oldies" from the Mimi album, Mariah did well but this song really isn't that fascinating live. The crowd wasn't as into it, but it was performed very well.

4. LOVE STORY
This song starts off with Sade (Rachel's daughter) and her two little friends singing backup on stage. The song is in the vein of "We Belong Together" and "Don't Forget About Us" in the sense that it's a ballad with a strong beat, but other than that it stands on its own. Mariah describes a love story and mentions how it's not like in the movies or Casablanca, and there's some fan-freaking-tastic belting at the end that sounds great. My least favorite of the three, but a great song and could definitely be a single later on.

5. THAT CHICK
This song is banging. Much like "Migrate," this is one of the best uptempos Mariah has ever done. The song has been described as disco, and it really really is. They even had disco balls on the screen behind her while she sang it. The song is extremely catchy, she talks about having different flavors like ice cream, and does indeed sound a lot like Ne-Yo's "Because of You." Absolutely has to be a single.

6. WE BELONG TOGETHER
Even though we've seen a million "We Belong Together" performances, I really enjoyed this one because Mariah really seemed to enjoy it. During the belting she was flailing her arms around old-school style, which was great. Like I said before, she started coughing right after the final note, but other than that she sounded great.

I think on whatever day they pick everyone who hates Mariah should ban together and download every version available of Lusher's song.

I'll laugh my ass off for a week if TMB gets stuck at #2.

Mariah Switch From 'Today' to 'GMA' Enrages NBC

Hell hath no fury like a network scorned. Music-industry insiders and network sources say NBC is furious with Mariah Carey, her manager Benny Medina and her reps at Def Jam, because they promised Carey would perform on "Today" to promote her new album, "E=MC2" - but instead she's going on archrival ABC's "Good Morning America."

One music insider told Page Six, "Every morning show wanted Mariah on for her new album, so Benny started negotiating. He demanded that 'Today' promote her fragrance and also give her a guest-star role on 'My Name is Earl.' They agreed."

But her "My Name Is Earl" part, which was to coincide with the album release, was put off when it was decided the album needed work. "It was supposed to come out in November, then it was pushed back until February, and now the release date is April 15," said our source.

"The entire time, Benny told 'Today' it would get Mariah for its concert series on Rockefeller Plaza. But then he stopped returning calls. Turns out, he had done a side deal behind everyone's back with 'Good Morning America' - after NBC had agreed to all of his demands.

Medina, the inspiration for "The Fresh Prince of Bel Air," told us: "We want to do something really spectacular for Mariah's album debut. I don't want 'Today' to feel disrespected by me trying to do right by my client. But when we went on 'GMA' [two years ago], they closed down Times Square. It got great ratings and was a big success."

And Medina denies he ever promised "Today" that Carey would give a concert on Rockefeller Plaza. "If they can show me an e-mail from anyone committing to the concert, I will personally pay for the entire production myself," he said.

Laura Swanson, Carey's rep at Def Jam, said the outdoor plaza wasn't big enough for a concert, "thus, they're unable to meet our needs for a spectacular launch event." No one would divulge where Carey's mid-April concert for "GMA" would be held.

Megan Kopf, a rep for "Today," said, "Mariah has been a guest on 'Today' several times since the start of her career. We would certainly like to have her back on 'Today.' "

PopWatch reader Jason in Greenville, S.C., sent me an e-mail over the weekend directing me to check out a piano-only version of Mariah Carey's latest single, ''Touch My Body.'' And while the rendition doesn't leave me quite as rapturous as one YouTube commenter ("love it am crying!" is the listener's four-word review), I have to admit I've had it on repeat loop all morning long in my office. So this means either 1) I'm officially ancient and months away from filling my iPod with elevator music; or 2) Jason is right in his observation that Mariah is underrated for her ability to write a terrific, complex melody. Listen for yourselves, PopWatchers, then make the call.
