i LOVE mumu for making fun of herself. yes, we all know this is a staged act, yet at least she comes across as far more down to earth than madonna. if u ask me, i'de be more willing to meet mumu in person than madonna, cause i sincerely believe the latter would be such a cunt i would come to hate her thereafter, and i don't want to.

mumu has a sense of humour. that's a fact and just accept it.

I have to say that I agree, although I'd still far rather meet Madonna for the "OMG I'm meeting my ultimate idol" factor.

But yeah, Mimi comes across as a LOT more fun and amusing.

Oprah Feature: Mariah Makes History

For almost 20 years, Grammy-winning artist Mariah Carey has thrilled fans with her vocal range and heartfelt lyrics. Since her debut album hit stores in 1990, Mariah has topped the charts with songs like "Vision of Love," "Dreamlover," "Honey" and "We Belong Together."

In April 2008, Mariah made music history when "Touch My Body," the first single off her album E=MC˛ reached the top spot on the Billboard charts. With 18 number one hits, she broke the previous record set by a solo artist…the king himself, Elvis Presley. Now, she's second only to The Beatles, who had 20 chart-toppers during their heyday.

After hearing the news, Mariah says she had a hard time imagining the possibility. "People ask me about it now, and they say, 'Okay, you have the most hits of a solo artist ever,'" she says. "You can't even think about it. I'm like, 'That's deep.'"

Mariah says she'll always think of Elvis as a legend and knows she can't take all the credit for her success. "I'm very grateful to God for everything and realize that the glory goes to him," she says. "I didn't do this. This is not me. It's the grace of God."

Since Mariah attended the opening of the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls-South Africa in January 2007, she says she's been busy working on her latest album, as well as her body.

For years, Mariah's fluctuating weight has been a popular topic in tabloid magazines. "I think the whole body image thing and people expecting everybody to be this thin is ridiculous," she says. "It just isn't reality."

After a close friend made a comment about her weight, Mariah says she was inspired to make permanent life changes and get into shape once and for all. Mariah says she has a secret weight loss weapon—her nutrition and fitness coach, Patricia. "Finally I just said, 'It has to be a life decision if you're going to really lose the weight,'" she says. "So Patricia created a number of things for me…one is a workout regimen."

Mariah says her workouts typically last for 60 to 90 minutes and combine cardio with resistance training. To tone her arms, Mariah uses her own body weight and stretches to sculpt long, lean lines. She likes to hop into a pool for the cardio portion of her workout. "What's great about working out in the pool is the water acts as resistance," she says. "You're actually exercising twice as hard without feeling it."

Mariah says the most important part of her new, healthier lifestyle is her diet. Patricia tries to cook Mariah's food without using oil and butter. She's also helped her stop snacking.

When Patricia told Mariah to cut mac 'n' cheese out of her diet, Mariah says the news broke her heart. "That's the thing that I have difficulty letting go of because that's comfort food," she says.

Instead, Patricia incorporates lean protein and lots of veggies into Mariah's meals. On a typical night, she prepares foods like artichoke hearts with cherry tomatoes, steamed zucchini and chicken marinated with lemon and soy sauce.

On occasion, Mariah allows herself to have one or two bites of her favorite foods - something she calls her "morsel diet."

Since making the commitment to eat healthier and get in shape, Mariah says she gotten down to the same jean size she wore in 10th grade. "For me, it's not about a number on a scale," she says. "It's not about necessarily even a size. It's about feeling good and being comfortable in your own skin. Right now, I feel really great. I feel better than I've ever felt."

It's no secret that Mariah loves femininity—she even has a closet filled entirely with lingerie! For the first time, Mariah allows cameras into the intimate space for a tour of her nighttime necessities. "Typically, I throw on some pj's or perhaps some boxers and a little tank and call it a day," she says. "But if we're feeling extra good about ourselves after our little diet, we might select another type of ensemble."

Mariah says many of the pieces have come from Capri, Italy, one of her favorite places to vacation. "Sometimes I'll find things there that they don't have [here], so I kind of collect lingerie," she says. "I collect perfume bottles — all things feminine."

Since Mariah writes many of her own songs, her lyrics are often very personal. In the song "Side Effects" on her album E=MC˛, Mariah opens up about her relationship with her ex-husband. "When I [sing] 'Kept my tears inside because I knew if I started, I'd keep crying for the rest of my life with you,' that's the truth," she says. "If I would have been emotionally present, then it would have been over for me... I had to be blocked."

Mariah says part of the problem was getting married before she was ready. "The song was not about mudslinging toward him. It's from my point of view," she says. "Really I'm just talking about my feelings during a particular time in my life."

Although the relationship has ended, Mariah says there are things she can take away from it. "It taught me that I had to allow myself to feel worthy of being loved and not just live vicariously through success."

Another personal and revealing song Mariah co-wrote on her album is "Bye Bye," a moving song about the loss of her father. Although some of the lines are specifically about her dad, Mariah thinks everyone will be able to relate to her words. "A lot of people are saying it helps them get through the difficulty of maybe losing a loved one, a grandmother, a sister, a mother, and this is something that a lot of my friends and I have kind of gone through together," she says. "I almost feel like it's my job to write these kinds of songs for everybody who will go through it."

Although Mariah says she and her father didn't always see eye to eye, she was able to reconcile with him before he passed away. "I didn't think he cared about the singing thing at all," she says. "My mother did believe in me, and she always encouraged me, and that was why I didn't understand that my father was just trying to be practical and help me. But we learn and we live and we grow, hopefully."

yeah, but who would u rather choose being with on a night out? madonna the icon is pure perfection but there's no doubt she's a cold bitch in real life. i don't blame her, yet i'd rather spend an evening with mumu, drinking champagne and hugging puppies. even more so, my ultimate fantasy is hangin out with kylie, drinking tequilla shots at a beach bar on a hot summer day. but then, i suppose dannii is the best of them all at having a good time, bless her.

Hun, the lambs are demented, that doesn't happen with 2nd singles. It'll rise slowly, airplay is still growing and stuff.

On her best album, Mimi gives it rough and likes it rougher.

Practically the first thing you hear on Mariah Carey's 11th studio album is the sci-fi chirrup of auto-tune - the warble made ubiquitous by a certain dreadlocked R&B cyborg - a sound that, on first listen, is a bit of a shock. For much of her nearly two-decade career, Carey has been pop's biggest showoff, a vocal athlete on a mission to awe and overwhelm and, around the three-minute mark in most of her songs, to shatter your finest stemware. But Carey's T-Pain impersonation heralds a new ease and irreverence and, yes, modesty: The old Carey would never have dreamed of burying her Hall of Fame voice beneath a robot drone. In 2008, Mimi has definitively been emancipated - from her need to decorate every damn song with more octaves than Maria Callas.

E=MC˛ is Carey's most-fun album, and her best. Not coincidentally, it's also her most propulsive, with strong contributions from A-list producers including Jermaine Dupri, Swizz Beatz, Stargate and Tricky Stewart. The hardest beat comes courtesy of Timbaland protege Danjahandz - on her starkly funky "Migrate," Carey trades lines with T-Pain himself. It sounds like a surefire hit, but Carey is in an eclectic mood, veering from buoyant neo-disco to mid-tempo ballads to "Last Kiss" - as catchy a piece of pure pop as she's ever recorded. In "Cruise Control," she even goes ragamuffin, crooning over Dupri's skittering reggae track in a Caribbean-tinged patois.

The '90s model Mariah was sickly sentimental - the queen of inspirational MOR - but in recent years she's been indulging her inner thug. Here, she name-checks Biggie and Tupac, threatens to kick ass if her lover posts their homemade porn on YouTube, confsesses a preference for tough guys ("If you're inked-up thuggin', that's what I like") and in general spends much of her time dissing, dismissing and demanding.

This is partly a nod to the zeitgeist: The charts today are packed with hard-edged divas. But the fact is, Carey sounds better and more comfortable spitting out her songs in a state of high dudgeon than she ever did cooing about heroes and butterflies and rainbows. Here's hoping she never gets over her attitude problem.

Single Her Out! Mariah's Upbeat and Record-Setting
Mariah Carey gets high - wayyyy high - in a vocal riff on the song "Migrate." The song is on the much anticipated "E=MC2" CD, which drops today.

With that opening display of vocal acrobatics, you brace yourself for a collection peppered with more glass-busting notes. Instead, Carey displays the newfound restraint that served her so well on her career-saving last disc, "The Emancipation of Mimi."

Along with a powerful crew of urban music's top artists and producers including Swizz Beatz, T-Pain, Jermaine Dupri and Young Jeezy, Carey sustains the "Mimi" momentum with a diverse collection. Hip-hop, reggae, R&B balladry and propulsive dance collide in a pleasing mix.

While that might seem like a stylistic scatter, "E=MC2" is the record of the future. These days, the single is king. Sure, the songs are a part of a collection, but each song manages to stand on its own merits.

Besides the monetary advantage of a singles-packed album in today's market, the notion just might push Carey into the record books. The album's current single "Touch My Body," which went to No. 1 on the charts, was Carey's 18th career No. 1 hit - surpassing Elvis Presley's 17 No. 1s. With a collection that has 14 tracks, Carey could well surpass The Beatles' all-time high of 20 No. 1 hits.

On the above-mentioned "Migrate," she lets us tag along on a girl's night out. In "Cruise Control," she falls in love island style, and in "I'm That Chick," she brags about the power in her hips and lips.

With so much upbeat music on this record, it might seem like Carey drops the ball on the last two tunes - one an introspective power ballad called "Bye Bye" and "I Wish You Well," a gospel flavored song about forgiveness.

While neither of these has the punch to be a mainstream hit, there's an appealing moodiness to them.

On a like it, love it or leave it scale, this is a definite "love it" album.

E=MC˛ US Sales Prediction: A Win Called Mariah

Can Carey's New Island/IDJ Album E=MC˛ Hit 600k?

Everywhere you turn, Mariah Carey's in your grill.
She's on Oprah, two American Idols, in your e-mail, on your computer.

Mariah Carey's new Island/IDJ album E=MC˛, looks like it will sell over 500k, based on one-day sales reports, though last night's Idol appearance could send it even higher. Wonderers are wondering if 600k is within reach. Needless to say, it will be #1 next week by a wide margin.

*Dreadful* performance of "Bye Bye" on American Idol last night.

If she was a contestant on the show, she'd have been *slaughtered* by the judges. Her voice really is totally shot. It's practically useless as a live instrument now.

Her performance on Oprah was worse than this, she ended up lip-synching there.

I don't know what's worse, when she lip-synchs and covers her mouth with the mic, or when she actually attempts to sing the "belting" stuff live.

Either way is just mortifying.

It's so weird how she has lost her voice. Whitney lost it through substance abuse, but Mimi just gradually lost hers over the years for no particular reason.
