Hilariously, the concensus over on Popjustice is that she's a strong, bold, empowered, black woman...for sticking with a cheating husband.

:megamanson:
well, her thread on popjustice is filled with complete nutcases literally worshipping the ground she walks on. i do pop in every now and then for a laugh.

on a quick first listen i sense this more of a successor to 4 rather than the self-titled album. there might even proper songs here and there with actual melodies and a tune

freedom is an early fave for me.

Totally. I'm really, really enjoying this. Way more melodies and soulful production.

She is NOT holding back on her anger with Jay Z. It's about as explicit as can be without actually saying "my husband cheated on me".

Why oh why does she stay with someone like him?
Industry connections, and you'd be surprised what having technical access to a few hundred million dollars extra will make you do.
not to mention the incredibly complicated terms they must have both agreed on when signing their prenup.

I watched it, yes. It's amusingly po-faced and pretentious. It's quite arty, like Madonna's "special project". To be honest, I found it a bit dull. I much prefer the music to the visuals.

I'm really, really enjoying this album. There isn't a single track that I don't like. (Except for Formation)

this album just gets better with every listen. its production is top notch and her vocal delivery throughout the whole is more diversive than ever. while i did appreciate the self titled album for what it tried to express, i never genuinely enjoyed it bar a handful of tracks. on the contrary, the vast majority of songs on lemonade are interesting and intriguing, yet also quite catchy - the fact they carry an actual melody and hooks also helps. well done, bey

oh, riv. formation is such an immense disjointed tuneless triumphant oddity that only bey can get away with. but then you're more like a sandcastles type so i forgive you.

:lmao: BITCH!!!

I do "get" Formation now. I like it's placement at the end of the album actually.

well, yeah. formation as the closer of the tracklist was a wise decision. it wouldn't have fitted anywhere else.

so you get it now? GOOD BOY :basil:

Beyonce’s Lemonade album charges in at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, giving the superstar her sixth chart-topper. The set earned 653,000 equivalent album units in the week ending April 28, according to Nielsen Music. Pure album sales comprised 485,000 of that sum.

All six of Beyonce’s studio albums have debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. Lemonade follows her self-titled album in 2013, 4 (2011), I Am… Sasha Fierce (2008), B’Day (2006) and Dangerously In Love (2003). Beyonce is the only act to reach No. 1 with their first six studio efforts (and the only act to debut atop the list with their first six).
Quote:
Elsewhere in the top 10 of the new Billboard 200 chart, Prince rules with five titles -- all in the top seven of the list -- following the first full week of chart activity following his death on April 21.

His The Very Best of Prince greatest hits collection is pushed down one spot to No. 2 with 391,000 units (though it gains by 118 percent) and 216,000 copies sold (up 116 percent).

The Purple Rain soundtrack is also forced backwards, despite a gain, as it moves 2-3 with 150,000 units (up 117 percent) and 133,000 copies sold (up 113 percent). Two more of Prince’s greatest hits albums rank in the top 10: The Hits/The B-Sides, hits a new peak, as it climbs 6-4 with 106,000 units (up 159 percent) and 56,000 in sales (up 134 percent), while Ultimate also zooms to a new peak, 61-6, with 40,000 units (up 319 percent) and 37,000 in sales (up 317 percent).

One more Prince album features in the latest top 10: his fifth studio effort, 1999. It climbs 31-7 -- a new chart high -- with 36,000 units (up 154 percent) and 33,000 in sales (up 149 percent). 1999 previously peaked at No. 9 in 1983.

Signs of overexposure actually. It sold about 150,000 copies less in 5 days than what her previous sold in 3 days as an iTunes exclusive, and this had Formation and the HBO special before release.

There's too much filler on here; still better than her previous collection of "songs".
