Despite all the controversy she has caused over the years, Madonna has never fallen foul of drugs or addiction.

While Whitney, Jacko and recently Amy Winehouse have all had drugs related deaths, either directly or as a result of the affect its had on their health, madonna has been pray to drug abuse. She's the most famous woman in the world and mocked for being a control freak - but it's being that freak that has kept her in check.

So I'm glad we have her - crap new album or no crap new album.

She truly is amazingly strong. If she's had any breakdowns or addiction problems(seriously doubt it), she has kept them very much out of the public eye.

Major respect to her!

She's addicted to a cult. That's her drug.

Whitney died a long time ago, let's be honest. She hasn't been relevant for over a decade, and it was just a matter of time. Same with Michael.

I suspect (as someone who doesn't drink, do drugs, smoke etc) that her vices are probably just not the obvious ones. I'd say at certain points she seemed like a workaholic, and yes religion can be one too. I do think that what's amazing is not that she's never had those kind of addictions but that she's never had any kind of public *emotional* cracks. She's probably kind of a control freak but like a lot of people her strengths and weaknesses are likely the same things. But yes, she's very unusual in the entertainment industry in that respect. A tough cookie for sure.
