I'm confused - are you saying Beyonce and Christina don't write or co-write their own material?

And WHitney could sing the entire contents of Tick Tock's posts and make them sound believable.

Idk. Never been with them or Rihanna in the studio.

They all credited at times, Rihanna too.

Even if they don't: I barely care, still love them even if they only sing, that was my point. We all know how Madge sometimes changes two words in lyrics, just to make more money or whatever reason. :)

I think her voice is actually the best thing about her. It's certainly unique, which is vital for any pop star. She's not good live, but it's a strong studio voice.

And yes, she's had some fantastic pop songs written for her. People go on and on about her amazing work ethic, but come on...it's not THAT difficult when other people are writing and producing the songs for you year after year.

I also find her personal life beyond vile.
She's tours, record an album a year, promotes non-stop. That is a strong work ethic. She's on par with Lady Gaga. The two of them don't sit even for a second.
The magic of music is in the songwriting. I doubt she can even write her own name. Yes I know she does all that other stuff, but it's not like she actually does it well. Have you ever been to one of her shows? She's a very weak performer.
The magic of music is... the music. Who cares who wrote it?
I do.

But I do take your point. I'm just saying that for me, the music itself is the most important aspect of any artist's career and the reason she's able to crank out an album every year is because she just turns up and sings what other people have worked hard on, not because she's some sort of fountain of musical creativity...because she isn't.
I though your point was that her work ethics aren't' that impressive due to other people writing the songs for her
She is a hard worker, so for me that is a good example of work ethic
And thank god she doesn't write her own songs, let people do what they do best

Stupid point to blame a singer, and prejudice her output just cause she's ...just a singer and not a writer. :scared:

So is Beyonce, Christina. So was Whitney... And most of singers out there which we all like.
Are you really comparing Whitney Houston to Rihanna? Whitney wasn't a writer, but she had one of the greatest voices in pop music history. Rihanna's voice is nothing special.

Beyonce writes some of her stuff and is also an INCREDIBLE live performer. Rihanna is a very, very weak performer.

Christina also co-writes a lot of her own stuff and also has an amazing voice, and is a far more complete performer than Rihanna.

So on every single level, Rihanna fails to live up to all of those singers you care to mention.

I knew that it would come to this.
No, I clearly was not comparing them, and you know it. The point was different. Britney, Kylie. Try them if you want to compare more. Amazing voices, co-writers and performers???

To your post: critisize Rih for her voice, performing skills (what you just did), that's really fare. Not just that she's not writing, that's kinda stupid.

Why is it stupid? Doesn't someone like Madonna, Lady Gaga or even Taylor Swift deserve more props for sitting down and writing their material than Rihanna who just... er, promotes?

I think this one's way better than Rated R, which was... boring a bit, and songs were randomly put.
Unapologetic, while being creative and risky is fantastic with every song, and never boring. I think it's her first actual ALBUM, others were more of a collections of hits and fillers.

It's first time with Rihanna I don't skip any songs! It may be not that cohesive, but it's totally seamless. It has prob. 2 fillers, but they are good too.

Right Now is the only...real bore. But she has to do smth for europe.

Post later to rate the songs. Well, all good.

Idk, today it shows $1.29, as all the other songs.

Still #1.

Waaah sonically the album is really interesting, the productions are so fine. And the genres (hip-hop/R&B/dubstep/ragga) she tackles here suit her so well. This all sounds so effortlessly cool.

I think it's a very dull album. Barely any decent tunes. Lots of dark, very repetitive production. Musically, the highlight is the Chris Brown duet, but that's too nauseating to listen to, given what he did to her.

The bad stuff on this album is REALLY bad:

Fresh Off The Runway
Numb
Power Up
Loveeee Song

All of them are utterly tuneless and so, so boring. After those, the album kicks into life, but they truly are *dire*.
