Of course his view is narrow. He's a business man not an artist. He creates clones to make money for him. End.

Here's my wishing list

1. Kylie and Madonna
2. Samantha Fox and Sinitta
3. Eddi Reader and whoever (Eddi will have the spotlight even if it's Elvis resurrected)
4. Riverwide and Henz.

'Me against the music' seems kinda appropriate for that occasion, or maybe 'Somethin' Stupid'

I agree with Neil. Simon cares too much about the voice. There are a lot of fantastic legendary artists, many who are members of the Hall Of Fame, who don't fit Simon's narrow Whitney/Elton mold. I'd rather hear someone who sings from the heart instead of having to stay technically perfect like Celine Dion (one of the biggest criticisms I always hear about her singing is that she doesn't sing with emotion, she sings to sound perfect). I think songwriting and style and ability to do more than one genre of music should be more important to an artist than how well they can sing I Will Always Love You.

oh i've read somewhere that it will be Lady Gaaaagh who will perform. They should have come with something interesting instead of having a girl that is on tv nowadays ad nauseam. Imagine Pet Shop Boys with Tori Amos and Madonna for example? Now that would be interesting.

How can anyone take this crappy glorified karaoke competition seriously? All the judges are interested in is finding someone who can hold the tune of Unchained Melody. They're not looking for anyone with a bit of charisma or who has anything different to offer. They just end up giving short-lived careers to people who shouldh't really be at the front of the stage. Yes, they might be able to sing, but the X Factor contestants are really just the sort of people who can have respectable careers as session singers or back up vocalists, they're not real talents.

I remember watching that shit-sniffing old frog Sharon Osborne saying who she thought had the X Factor and she said Madonna. What a fucking joke. If a 20 year old Vadge had turned up at the X Factor auditions, those clueless tossbag judges would have thrown her out.

You are lucky with your X Factor, at least they sing decent songs when they are out and they have number ones. Spanish "Pop Idol" is all about crappy songs in the show and later they are given such shameful and shit records... they barely sell 5.000, even when the show gathers millions of viewers!

'X Factor' bosses gagging to get Gaga

‘The X Factor’ bosses are desperate to sign Lady Gaga to mentor the show’s acts.

A source has revealed Simon Cowell wants the ‘Poker Face’ singer to appear on the show – despite her blasting reality TV talent shows, saying they give people a “false understanding” of success.

Gaga said: “If you win a TV show and you have a hit record, you sort of have a false understanding of what it means to earn success.

"The shows are set up for a winner, for someone to win. Whereas with someone like me, who writes my own songs, you have to set yourself up to win.”

Sources say despite her comments bosses are the still keen to add Gaga to the list of stars appearing on the show, in order to make this year’s celebrity performers the strongest yet.

A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “‘X Factor’ has given fans Robbie Williams and Whitney Houston.

“Now with Bon Jovi, Shakira and all being well, Lady Gaga, it will make it the best series yet for big name acts.”

Bon Jovi announced yesterday they will appear on the show on November 1. The rockers will perform their latest single ‘We Weren’t Born to Follow’ and mentor the acts to perform a selection of their own songs.

Meanwhile, Westlife - who are performing on the show this Sunday - admitted they are petrified of their appearance.

The group’s Mark Feehily said: “There is always something a little bit scary about the ‘X Factor’ stage. It's so huge and you have the judges in front of you. It's like being a teenager at your first audition.

“We've performed some massive gigs and huge TV shows but ‘X Factor’ always makes me a little bit more nervous than anything else we do.”

So far the series has seen Robbie Williams and Whitney Houston both make their UK TV comebacks. Susan Boyle is also lined up to perform this series, and producers are said to be working hard to sign Madonna to appear.

MADONNA and GAGA! :drama:

she's ABSOLUTELY right. these people have ZERO real-life experience other than 9-10 mediocre performances on big stage (best case scenario). and usually they get to record a shitty album or two and end up being just performers, not true artists.

*FLUSH*
