I liked her being shouty. She wasn't a technically great singer, but she sang with more emotion than the rest of the contestants combined.

That's what I loved about Ruth and Alexandra. They give the performances 110% passion. Leona is a very good singer, but she doesn't have that raw fire and passion that those girls have. They're true divas. Leona is a nice normal girl with a good voice, but she's no performer.

and it was then absolutely galling to see Eoghan follow them onstage and walk around to a Highschool Musical number with a retarded smirk on his punchable mug.

Indeed. I mean he seems like a genuinely decent wee chap(Even if his father looked like something out of "Shameless") but he simply wasn't anywhere near their league.

he just looked totally oblivious to what was going on around him. I can't believe I feared he might win.

I read today that APPARENTLY Eoghan was told the result by Simon during the ad break so as to give him time to deal with it and face the camera,

Figures as he looked quite ok with dermot calling out his name.

Breaking News...

X Factor winner Alexandra Burke’s single Hallelujah is officially the fastest EVER selling single via download. Since it’s release on Saturday night it has sold a massive 80,000 copies surpassing the previous record holder Leona Lewis whose current single Run sold 69,244 in just two days.

So true. Britney is textbook chav, or as the American's call it, trailer trash.

I thought Alexandra sang the others out of the show. I thought her song choices were a bit iffy, but she proved she was versatile and could do anything.

The Beyonce duet was incredible, and my opinion of Beyonce also went up after seeing how effortlessly she belted that track out.

I hope they come up with some good material for her to sing.

Yeah I think everyone was pretty blown away by Beyonce's voice on "Listen". It was hugely impressive stuff.

It actually made me like the song. before, I thought it was a bit of a shouty mess, but I kind of like it now.

Eyoghannn was just shiteous and it really showed that night. To have him in the final over some of the other girls was a travesty.

And were Westlife and Boyzone the only artists in the world available that night? Jeses... a band who are taking two years off and a band who should have taken another two years off.

I know. Tragic stuff. That queer in Westlife who did most of the singing was bloody awful too. Shouting and off-key. Dreadful.

You think so? I actually thought he was in tune, if a little shouty.

Has Gately had work done on his face? He looked awful.

* hates to admit it, but really likes boyzone's comeback single *

Babe you should hate to admit that Boyzones come back single is just awful.

None of them can dance because they are all too fat so they have thise little jig on the spot to do thorughout the entire video......amkes me think Brian Freedman (sp?) did it for them.

Pet Shop Boy Neil Tennant has branded Simon Cowell's view of music too narrow, and thinks The X Factor ignores whole swathes of pop music.

The musician, speaking to the Radio Times, said Cowell's talent show was "basically people singing Whitney, Mariah and maybe Elton".

"Why don't they have, say, a new-wave week? Or 80s electro week?" he asked.

The Pet Shop Boys will collect an outstanding achievement accolade at the Brit Awards on 18 February.

"The feeling is that pop has made a big comeback this year, and it's the right time to give us the award," he said.

He explained that he watched The X Factor after writing a track for Girls Aloud, and decided to see what Cheryl Cole was like as a judge on the talent search.

Tennant added of the show: "If it's not power ballads then it was a narrower version of disco.

"I remember on Pop Idol, [judge] Pete Waterman told someone, very sympathetically, 'The thing is, you're more of a Depeche Mode kind of artist.' In other words, 'What are you doing here, pet?'

Tennant scotched rumours that he will perform with The Killers at the Brit Awards, saying it was "made up by the papers".

"There will be two guests for our performance, but I'd like it to be a surprise," he added.

The 54-year-old also said he fully supports the return of Top of the Pops, but says it should not be updated.

"It should never have tried to be cool. If it's brought back, it should be the original format - show the records going up the chart, and the number one," he said.

Tennant, along with bandmate Chris Lowe, is due to release the first Pet Shop Boys album in three years on 23 March.
