London 2012: US rower Henrik Rummel denies podium erection

US rower Henrik Rummel has denied having an erection as he and his coxless four team were given their bronze medal at the London 2012 Olympic Games.

A user on the Reddit messageboard had posted the photo with the comment "One US rower was particularly excited by his Bronze medal..." prompting a response from Rummel.

"This is me and I swear it's not erect!" Rummel posted under the Rummelator username.

"I don't know why it ended up in that position but there you go."

Another user responded: "Dude when you win a medal in the goddamn olympics your penis can be however you want. You earned it."

Jimmy Mack is in the Olympic stadium today!

I was indeed. :)

It was SUCH a positive experience. Everyone was up for cheering on all the athletes, and just getting totally into the spirit of the event. Special moment was when the first ever female Saudi athlete got roared around the track.

The decathletes were out long jumping right in front of me. Some of those guys ... well, put it this way, an official shouted up to me "Excuse me, sir, could we have our pole vault back, please "

Was that the Saudi athlete who had to wear loads of clothing and came last? I saw a clip on Tv and thought I bet the crowd gave her loads of support for being a trailblazer.

Basically, anything wrapped in a sheet was guaranteed two things: to come a mile behind everyone else, and to get massive cheers.

those jamaican sprinters  what a team of prime athletes and media performers, particularly bolt and blake.

men's decathlon was such an amazing competition, too - definitely one of the hardest ones to participate in. i watched a short interview of ashton eaton right after his gold medal victory and he seemed like a very humble guy

women's 10m platform diving final was so exciting up to the last minute. that 16 year old aussie girl that won silver was my personal fave. chinese chick that got her second gold medal over london olympics i was fond of too, but then the commentator mentioned she's supposedly not aware of her parents professions as she's been dragged away from her family by the chinese state since being a little child. this whole chinese plan to produce olympic winners at every personal cost i just find it entirely creepy

The Chinese thing ... Yes (about the no). But China in sport, generally, makes me suspicious since those "remarkable" women's distance records from 20 years ago. (And, well, China in general!)

Bolt? Of course, genuniely remarkable. But embodies the true Olympic spirit? Two games in a row now he slows up at the finish - showboating over desire to be all he could be.

David Rudisha and Jessica Ennis are the true athletics heroes of these games.

Well, China is going to be the ruler of the world pretty soon, so. They're the next superpower. You better start getting ready for training. :chuckle:

Glad GM sang his new song at the closing ceremony.

He'd better stand still on the stage. His moves were just... As always.

I thought the closing ceremony was a bit of a mess. It was just like a big pop concert. The opening ceremony was theatrical, epic and moving. It was *art*. Last night was fine, but pretty much left me cold apart from the odd moment or two.

The highlight of the entire night was Freddie Mercury on the giant screens. Says it all really.

The lowlight was George Michael singing his new single like it was a guest slot on the X Factor or something. Completely inappropriate.
