Taylor Swift to Release Fourth Studio Album, ‘Red,’ October 22

Taylor Swift’s highly-anticipated fourth studio album will be released worldwide on October 22nd, Taylor herself announced this evening during a live YouTube web chat with her fans.

Entitled Red, the album will be released on Big Machine Records and contains 16 tracks. After writing her last album (Speak Now) entirely by herself, for this record Taylor collaborated with several artists, producers, and songwriters she had always wanted to work with.

“For the last two years, I’ve been working on an album called ‘Red,’” Taylor says. “I called it ‘Red’ because of the tumultuous, crazy adventures in love and loss that it chronicles. In my mind, when you experience love that’s fast paced and out of control and mixes infatuation, jealousy, frustration, miscommunication, and all of those lovely emotions…in retrospect, it all looks red.”

The first single from Red, “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together,” (written by Swift, Max Martin, Shellback) has already arrived at radio and will be available today at iTunes and Google Play, and beginning tomorrow worldwide at all digital retail outlets. Album pre-sale dates will be announced in the coming weeks.

The song is so generic, but very catchy. Surely the most "pop" thing she has ever done?

Ok I'm (obviously) not a fan of hers, but her VMA dancing was the cutest thing, seriously.

I really love the effort she puts into everything. I wasn't a fan of WANEGBT, but I did like quite a few of the tracks from the last album, so I am certainly looking forward to the new single and album. She is spot on with her image (whether it be fashion or performance).

Indeed. I quite admire her actually. She went pop and made it work! And yes, her fashion sense is fantastic. Extremely sophisticated and stylish for someone of her age and country roots.

The new album is called "1989" and the single is "Shake It Off" apparently.

Sounds kind of awful to me. A tuneless, juvenile mess.

I hope it's a grower.

I like the song better than WANEGBT, but it's not as good as I Knew You Were Trouble or Red.

Apparently she says the album is influenced by late 80's. When she said it was called 1989, I couldn't help but think of "Like a Prayer", "She Drives Me Crazy", "Eternal Flame", "Straight Up", "Listen to Your Heart" and so many other classics from that year (I've always thought 89 was an incredible year for music - thanks in large part to LAP).

Yeah, same here. That single has nothing "late 80s" about it at all though. :sadalexz:
