i had no idea she had turned into pure pop (yes, i'm old). this is as basic as pop can get, which is probably in her favour - i guess they're marketing her as a classier version of katy perry and it sort of works. for teens.

at least she does seem like a very likable girl (that kanye west incident at the vmas some years ago must have earned her quite some public goodwill). however, a genuine, charismatic pop star she ain't.

She says it's gonna be a pop album -.I think it will be huge

I think the song is great too and like the last album the cover / photography / design is spot on.

I love this review from a Popjustice poster. Sums it up *perfectly*:

It's got all I could ever want from Taylor Swift. There's the juvenile lyrics, the mad grab at martyrdom, the annoying 'I'm so normal' mugging for the camera. She's jumped the shark surely. This is Avril Lavigne levels of self-parody. I've always thought she was awful, but now I don't even feel bad about it. Naming the album 1989 doesn't help either, it just reminds the world she's been too old for this shit since about 2005.

it's a bit odd she's attempting this clumsy transformation to a pop act while previously cementing her position as a ridiculously successful country artist. weren't her albums selling millions in america anyway?

the new single is tuneless, yet surprisingly catchy... still forgettable though.

... if that makes ANY sense. :lol2:

I have to say I enjoyed I Knew You Were Trouble a lot though, especially that bass drop. She co-wrote it too.

We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together though... It literally sounds like a kids song.

I bet this album is going to be fantastic. I agree with you Riverwide, that the first single has nothing to do with the late 80's theme she said the album would have. Luckily, if her past is any indication, the best songs are not the first singles. I don't think she is the type of artist anyone would like if they can't appreciate Shania Twain, Faith Hill, or Leann Rimes. She's always going to have that country/pop crossover twang about her. She's been hinting at her love for pop/rock the entire Red era (and before):

My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark (Taylor enters around 1:22 and slaps a girl's ass at 1:34)

Pour Some Sugar On Me (Def Leppard)

Again, she has a thin voice, but her songs, attitude, and work ethic shine through (at least for me)

I love it! Taylor bringing out the cuntyness in the Cuntry Music Association!

for those of you who don't speak cuntry:

"Good luck on your new venture" = we won't support you in any way now

"We've LOVED watching you grow!" = we hate your new song and we hope you fail

I love it! :lmao:

well, that's probably cause i've stopped listening to the radio for ages now. so her sound is basically a katy perry and kelly clarkson rip off.

Not a bad description at all. There's certainly nothing new in what she's doing!

I never listen to the radio either, but they seem to be played everywhere over here. Perhaps Greece has escaped the Taylor domination!

yeah, i thought so, too. which is rather odd considering they're still playing cheryl cole's say my name after two years of release. i accidentally listened to it yesterday on some radio at the gym as i had not put on my earphones. i felt helpless and abused. why was that a hit anyway?

I can't get Shake it off out of my head. It was also the only decent VMA performance. Beyawnce was boring as hell.

She literally has the least memorable/impressive voice among top female artists of today.
