I hope it's more like her first album though. The second one was seriously ropey.

"Early Winter" is a hidden gem.

Though I do think it's a bit hilarious that she of all people will be judging singing voices.

there were a handful of lovely songs on that second one, too, though.

Haze from Star 941 FM confirmed, that Gwen Stefani's highly anticipated comeback single is called "Baby Don't Lie."

"Just heard the new @gwenstefani WOW! Gonna be big! #BabyDontLie @INTERSCOPEPROMO @Channel933 @TheVoice_TF1"

And according to various sources, Interscope posted info about "Baby Don't Lie", along with info about Fergie's and Kendrick Lamar's singles, by mistake on playiga.com (Interscope site where they post info about songs impacting the radio) but deleted the info shortly after. However, a lot of people were fast enough to see the info about those singles, and "Baby Don't Lie" is reportedly expected to impact radio on on October 6th.

Song description:

“All right, y’all, I’ve been trying to think of the most accurate way to describe the song to you. First – IT’S GOOD. You can definitely tell Ryan Tedder wrote it. A lot of the elements you can hear in OneRepublic’s latest single “Love Runs Out” and Adele’s “Rumor Has It” (which he wrote with her) are there – that driving beat in particular; the short, crazy catchy, repetitive vocal lines in the chorus, with men chanting “ooh”s after it which all together give it that, “tribal” feel that’s been in a trend in pop music lately. The instrumentation in the verses reminds me of that Jeremiah, song “Don’t Tell ‘Em” except Gwen’s song is lighter and not urban sounding, just the best description I can find. It’s TOTAL Top 40, way more so than Hot AC. Also they are not sure about the 10/6 release date. They need to coordinate with the Voice. That’s most of the info I have and all I can share. Looking good for a solo album by the holidays and YES I got confirmation the label knows there is new No Doubt in the works too!! No details about that but I am guessing it will be poppy and everyone seems to be hoping Gwen uses the solo time to draw a line back to the band. There you go!”

i'd love it if gwen delivers a properly good pop album. her solo material is the epitome of hit or miss extremity. half of it is lush, the other half sounds atrocious. sadly her best songs have either been minor hits or sentenced to album track obscurity.

and as if a new no doubt album's gonna surface any time soon. they'll be probably working on it for the next half decade.

ugh, ain't it just a pity more and more major popstars are releasing the exact same kind of generic pop music these days? where is the edge and the artistic identity? by no means do i regard this a bad song, yet it just lacks the qwen sparkle. it's insanely catchy, though, her team did a great job scouting a rihanna styled single. if radio's still on board, this might actually become a sizable hit.

9/10 from Popjustice.

It's a 6 or 7 at very most. I despair for pop music, I really do.

popjustice may be a great source for updates on the pop landscape, yet their reviews and ratings are totally useless and embarrassing. sometimes i can't help but wonder whether they're actually deaf or just taking the piss for irony's sake.

after what felt like a 10 year long pause this is the best that she can deliver
the video is like something M.I.A. used to do 5 years, but not as good... actually the song too

It's like a lyric video. So, so bad. All that blatant product endorsement and yet it still looks so, so cheap. :manson:

Gwen's song is quite similar to this unknown singer's song.

That girl's song is actually superior in my opinion. The video is too. :chuckle:

perhaps whoever came up with the video intended for it to embrace cheap underground 80s aesthetic influences, only its execution has gone terribly wrong. the result looks rushed and uninspired. this would be labeled as poor and disappointing even if it were meant to support a single scrapping up an album campaign, let alone the one leading it.
