I am Thanatos.
Unit 6.
Mission: Assassinate Marcus Conner, Lawyer.
Έτοιμος.

Within the mind of the Assassin is an enigma. A dark force where nobody but the person knows its true intentions. However, in the mind of this particular Assassin, he is no exception. He has nothing else on his mind other than the mission.

He is a weapon. He is a killer. He is an Assassin.

Rain fell upon the busy metropolitan area of Avalon city, and as gloomy as it looks, the citizens kept their smiles up and went on with their lives as they pass each other by with their umbrellas. On a bricked building's roof, however, lies a eagle, waiting for its prey by the rain. The said person knelt down on one knee, with his white hood protecting him from the rain. The person then pressed something on the right side of his black and brown mask, activating a HUD appearing on his red lenses. The information revealed a quick rundown on his target, who is supposed to be on his way back to his family. Marcus Conner is known to be a shady Lawyer who would sometimes bribe the officials in the court to lean on his side. However they never apprehended him because they lacked enough evidence to even create a court case against him. This time, the law will not save him.

Without any delay, he quickly moved from his position and summoned up his claws, radiating a purple aura with the stars of the universe visibly seen in the claws' blades. Looking at the new vantage point in the nearby building, he instantly created an exit point for him to use. Gripping the right claw's handle tightly, he created a wormhole connected to the exit point by swiftly swinging the claw downwards, ripping a portal open. He dashed in, without leaving a trace of his whereabouts. Upon the arrival of the new vantage point, where he stands nearby the building's metal railings on the roof, he unloaded his sniper rifle and attached a silencer on it from his belt. Within the shadows and the rain, he was sure to keep a low profile when he succeeds his mission. He kneels down and positions himself as he aims the shot through the sniper's lenses. While the rain and the umbrellas make the target search more difficult, this wasn't the first time.

The clock is ticking and time passes, such as the people on the sidewalk. The Assassin was patient. Although breathing, he hasn't moved an inch since the past ten minutes, waiting for his target to arrive. He then notices a car parking nearby, and who came out was his target: Marcus Conner. But he wasn't alone. He was with his family. A mother and a daughter. There is a local pizzeria just a few walks away from their location, assuming that they're out for lunch. The Assassin then watched Conner pick up his daughter, protecting her from the rain as the mother took out an umbrella. As heartwarming as it could be, emotions cannot halt the mission. And that's what he's trained for. Emotions were since stripped away from the Assassin at a very young age, making him cold and emotionless. His task is to murder Marcus Conner and end his unethical behavior in the court. And so he shall. Waiting for the perfect moment where Conner would reveal his face, the man turned himself to the car to shut the door. The Assassin seized the moment, and before triggering the gun, he muttered, "Θάνατος."

The screen faded to black, and took a zoomed-in focus of his sniper's barrel, with smoking coming out of it. He shot him. His task is complete. The Assassin watched the man fall and letting go of his daughter from afar, and showed no sympathy towards the kill. He stood up from his position, deciding not to use his claws to escape, as the people began to circle around the then-murdered Marcus Conner, creating a commotion. The rain began to fall harder, and thunder is starting to crack, but that didn't deter him. He's an Assassin, nothing is permitted. He faded himself into the shadows, running from building-to-building to escape the scene. He was since far away from the murder, jumping down into an alleyway where he could safely report the mission as a success to the person who hired him.

Thanatos, much like Death, cannot be escaped. Nobody is an exception.

Amongst the startled herds of people were a person who were watching the incident that has been executed. Many people came after the corpse of a man who believed to be a crooked lawyer, with his wife screamed on top of her lungs and his daughter crying over the corpse of her father lying down on the streets. Many kept their silence to mourn the person they barely knew. It is an ugly view from the brown tint of his sunglasses, the rain only adds up to this tragedy.

The informant approached the family of the crooked lawyer who were circling around their dead father, only to comfort their little girl who were sobbing in the rain, repeatedly wishing her daddy would come back to his little Sally. He rests his right hand onto her shoulder, with the girl noticed his metallic touch and his unabashed look on his face.

"Be strong. For when time comes, you'll get your revenge."

Those words left both of them in a sense of peculiarity, questioning the man. Whatever their question is, it doesn't affect his decision as soon as he left the crime scene. From his observation, the bullet travels to the far right of where he last observed the crowds. His next destination would be that assassin's last position, where he took a walk to his car and starts the engine before driving away.

Panic rushed into each and every citizen's body standing on Metropolis' grounds, the crime surrounded by the terriied yet curious people of Avalon City. Angerona only watched the scene from afar; she was also surprised by the sudden gunshot and a scream of a woman.

"What the..." Were the only words she could mutter out from under her breath. The grip she had on the handle of her clear umbrella tightened, a sudden uneasy feeling enveloping her heart. Like a thorn of a black rose that pricks skin to share its poison, letting its victim join in with its silent siffering.

Angerona placed her free hand on her chest, just where her "heart" is supposed to be. She clutched onto the black cloth of her clothes as she walked towards the crime, ignoring the cries and the worried questions the citizens were shooting at the corpse's family. It was a shame how no one from the Cabinet was there yet, and they were to protect the city with all they have? How foolish. Where are they now when they're needed the most? Nowhere.

She ignored the man that came and go, placing a hand on the woman's arm which made her flinch. She gently smiled and shook her head, signalling she wasn't of any harm before looking up at the dark grey clouds, seeing a silhouette on a high building although she only thought of it as nothing but a shadow of an object.
