I can understand why one would do that, because they want to sell the thing when it's valuable.

However, that's what you do with things like coins, cards, or stamps.
Toys are not meant to be collectibles. In some cases, such as static figurines (Like my Death Note ones, Sheena, or Mateus) I can get that. But articulate toys? No. Not happening.
"Would you like something to drink?" She opened the fridge. "We have water, milk, juice, spiders, Dr. Pepper-"
"Spiders?"
"Spiders it is then."
"No, that wasn't-"
But she was already pouring him a brimming glass of spiders.

[Not so much news, as a vlog.  Story without vid:  This guy was in a store, picking up a transformer, and noticed a kid picking up the same one as him, all smiling and happy and with a look of joy on his face, like kids do.  Then, this other guy walks up to the little kid and snatches the toy out of the kid's hands.  He then goes and buys it for himself.  The first guy is awesome, as not only does he give the toy he had picked up to buy to the kid, but goes to have a little talk with that ass.  Sadly, the ass got away.]

[So, is this what the transformer's community is growing up to be?  A pack of douches that snatches toys from little kids?  I certainly hope not, and really, I think he's an exception.  A POOR exception.]

Most of the TF community that I know of would happily take that guy that snatched the toy from the kid out to the parking lot, and bludgeon him with a Masterpiece Prime. (large heavy die cast figure)

This is the kind of behavior we expect out of the Hot Wheels collectors. Mad props to guy that did right by the kid. That's how an adult should conduct himself!

[I don't know anything about Hot Wheels collectors, other than I saw two guys next to the hot wheels in walmart the other day, picking up a ton of the things.]

I've heard horror stories, about the Hotwheels guys. They're widely considered to be the reason that stores put anti-collector policies in place.

Mostly restrictions on buying more than two of certain items, policies against looking in the back, if there's already product on the shelves.

[People DO that kind of stuff? I mean, why would anyone NEED to collect more than one of a toy car, for their collection??] O.o

TF collectors wuill often buy three of each. One for robot mode, one for vehicle mode, and one to keep in hte package. Who they're reallt trying to stop with the are the scalpers, who will buy nearly all the available stock, and sell on ebay at inflated prices.

[Um...honestly, why would anyone need 3? I mean, I could understand 2, one in package, one not in package, but 3 just sounds like too many to me.] (shrug)

Obesity has hit a disturbing level:
500 pound inmate smuggled in a gun under a roll of flab.

Man gets arrested, man is searched. Man is booked, and searched again. Man is transported to lockup, is searched again. Man is in shower bragging about how he got the gun past the guards. Guards strip search him, check the usual places. Guards lift flab. Find gun.

'Thanks to advances in voicemail and call-waiting technology, you rarely hear that annoying broken tone any more. Unless, of course, you're voting for "American Idol" or listening to Pink Floyd.'

Is it a sign of age if you snigger a bit at that, knowing the reference? =p

Well, I can sorta vouch for the floppy thing, cause when I first actually heard of a thumb drive, I was like 'buh? what?'

Though, since I hole myself up in my room, I don't know very much about what goes on outside it.

End of an era.
Those of us in the states have all likely seen or heard of Reading Rainbow. After 26 years, the book has been closed.
