The price of letting people know you can fix it, I'm afraid, SD.
You have my sympathies

Ok, being the home IT person is now actually starting to get a taaaaad annoying.

Didn't I warn you about this, a while back? :P

You have my condolences. I feel your pain, as I'm living my own version of it.

So, the other day I bought 'My Pokemon Ranch' over the Wii Shopping Channel.

It's a decent little timewaster, with some of the other fun in it being from watching the little critters moving around.

You know, I look at this as both awesome and sad.

Here I am, sitting with an expensive, brand new system capable of very nice graphics, intense battles, in-depths stories...

And I'm using it to play Megaman 2.

So, because I'm signed up with ZeldaUniverse.net, I received a newsletter today (denying my hopes that the 'Inbox (1)' that I saw in my hotmail box referred to an e-mail from HelloCosplay <_<) talking about the upcoming Zelda game.

The game has been confirmed to come out before the end of 2010 (so, since this is Nintendo, December 31st) but that's not why I'm posting.

One comment attached in the e-mail from the game-makers themselves:

“So far, the basic flow of the Zelda games is you’re exploring a field, you go to a dungeon, you conquer it and return to the field. We’re looking at altering that traditional flow. That’s all I can share, and I can’t say more until E3 next year.”

I both now look forward to and dread this game - Will it be a shining beacon of originality that Zelda: Majora's Mask was? Or will it trip over its own feet from the start like Phantom Hourglass did?

Only time will tell.

Just heard from my grandpa:

He has all the parts now, and is going to test them once he gets a monitor or two to test the dual-video portion of the computer.
He's also going to be installing Windows 7 Professional... So that's one part I'm a bit tentative about. I've used Vista, and it was... bleh. I adore XP a lot, but it only recognizes up to 3 GB of RAM (This computer will have 4)

Hopefully it works out though.

Had a bit of a scary moment the other day (thankfully, the fear almost instantly passed)

While getting on a bus to head over to Ether's, I ran into an old friend of my sister - one whom I hadn't seen in quite some time. So, naturally, we sat down and basically caught up with each other. At one point, I mentioned Anime North, how forward I was looking forward to it, and hoping that I get my cosplay stuff in one large box, saying that some of the items were 'weird'

This cued a 'I dunno... those crossdressing pictures of you on facebook are pretty good, I don't know how much weirder you can get.'

Mentally, I panicked - if she can recognize me, then most likely, anyone can recognize me.

Then I found out a few things:
A: It was one of her friends that had pointed it out.
B: She wasn't gonna say anything (or add a tag)
C: She even said 'Well, you do look rather good as a girl - I dunno if you'd take that as a compliment or not, but hey, it's true.'

=P

I think you can relax for a bit, SD.
And, from a girl, I think that's a compliment

Never before have I felt happier that I am not getting Vista on my new computer (which has been shipped, and I'll be getting my monitors on Thrusday hopefully)

I just dealt with some poor sap for just over an hour because he was getting BSODs EVERYWHERE (Save for the BIOs of course). From 'Registry failures' to 'Never_less_or_equal' and a whole crapton of memory adresses in the stop codes, this guy was 100%, certifiably fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuucked.

What was he running? Vista Ultimate 64-Bit. He has some recovery discs coming now, since his system was so corrupted, his recovery partition was crashing on him with, you guessed it, more BSODs.

Yes. The Recovery Partition. The nigh-untouchable part included with many HP computers used to restore a computer to factory defaults.

Oh, and hard drive and memory tests were run - they worked, showing that the hardware was fine. It was the OS that was more corrupted than... um... ... Something really really corrupted.

Hence the reason Vista will NEVER be found on this machine

Meh. ust got done fighting with a Vista laptop. Admittedly, most of the trouble I was having, I caused myself, but I'm still not happy. I would never have tried what I did, if Vista wasn't so obnoxiously nanny state.

Yeah well, let's hope Vista's kid lives up to the hype then when trusty XP (which I have never had any trouble with) is put to rest in two years.

yeah... XP has been the most reliable OS I've been able to work for myself. Unix and (some distros of) Linux can be more reliable, but they require WAY too much time & effort overhead to learn and admin them. When I tried a Mac, OSX crashed more frequently than Windows ME, so I gave up on that idea really quickly. Did Microsoft ever offer an explanation for why they didn't just advance and expand on the good things about XP, instead choosing to start from scratch with crap that didn't work?

heh... the very concept of incorporation is based on the idea of reaping the rewards and profits for a successful venture, while passing on risks and costs to others. As such, ALL corporations are Evil Corporations (and some charities are among the worst - I'll refrain from naming names here, but a big one that rings a lot of bells in December is THE most corrupt charity in the world, an Evil Corporation hiding behind the name of God, and it makes Microsoft look saintly by comparison).

And, on an unrelated note of something that doesn't relate to Vista, Other OSes, or my cosplay stuff finally being shipped:

I give you a rather neat and nice little tune
Final Fantasy - With Lyrics
This guy's songs are normally humourous, but while there's little humour in this one (Though I like the cheap little 'brenTREEflos' joke) this is one of the few songs by him I genuinely love, mostly for the feel of it. It manages to, rather than take a catchy tune from a game and add to it (Fever from Dr. Mario, 'Music A' from Tetris, etc.) he takes the main theme from it and gives the tune a set of lyrics that are just perfect.

Give it a listen a bit at least.

So, my Cosplay package of clothing has officially landed in Canada.
Specifically, it's in Vancouver, being reviewed by Customs.

Bloody out-of-country orders <_<
Apparently, HelloCosplay is situated in China

It arrived on Friday.
While no mail goes out on the weekend, I don't think that keeps Customs and moving stuff by air from working.
I could get my package as early as tomorrow

Whelp, as the signature says, my cosplay order has arrived, and until my dad and I get to a wood shop of sorts, the timer is frozen.

Thankfully, mom didn't ask about the package that said the following on the top of it:
-long leather coat
-girl cotton dress
-man-made leather shoes
-long white wig

=p

Anyways, I only have 3 qualms about the package... Ok, 4.

1: Thanks to the slight cheapness, the zipper pull on the underskirt came off. I got it back on after 10 minutes of fiddling though, just need to never undo it all the way.
2: The wig refuses to sit right.
3: The F***ing wig refuses to sit right! !@#%!
4: Why are there so many pieces?! I am not kidding, the whole costume (not counting wig and boots - which fit wonderfully despite not being the heels I wanted) is:
-A Neckband.
-A Headband
-A Crinoline
-Underskirt
-Top shirt
-Lower dress
-Bloomers.

Why on earth does this need so many paaaaaarts @_@ This is foreign chinese technology I swear.

It also has two weird lacy band-type things. I have no idea what they are for. NONE.

OH right, and the Org XIII Coat? Fits snugly, though I wish the hood descended a tiny bit more over my face =p

Sounds like things just need some fine tuning, Serenade.

And, as to your mother, one of a couple of possibilities.
1. She thinks it's a gift for a girl.
2. She knows more than you give her credit for.
3. She might not have actually read the contents.
