So, I finally ran my first session of Vampire: The Requiem tonight. It was eye-opening, mostly in just how much I had failed to account for.

MEET THE NECKBITERS:

Isabella "Muffin Whore" LeDoux, Daeva clan. Former band member, now solo singer who catches everyone with her Awe. Also a high-rankig member of the 'Society of the Dark Flame', a demon-worshipping cult. Muffin Whore used to be her Band Name, now it's her Ordo Dracul name. Honestly a little bit of a nutcase, but the good kind.

Bernard Washingtom, Nosferatu Clan. Ex K-9 cop who was tired of having cases closed on him. Opened a closed one, followed it, and met his Sire. Three months later, he's a loyal Invictus Knight, with his loyal Ghoul-dog Max. Also carries swords. Because Obfuscate 2. Well -someone- has to help on the combat side. Also immigrated to Canada. Something about Bagged Milk.

Séraphine "Sehkmet", Mekhet Clan. Former University student, borderline suicidal. Met her Sire in the library, and the two hit it off fairly well. Embrace didn't happen until much later, and the two spent many a night breaking into old homes, wherein Séraphine found an adoration for the acts of larceny and theft. Eventually spent some time as a gohul, and then finally her Sire told her the truth, and Embraced her. Séraphine eventually fled though, and sought refuge with her Sire's Sire instead. Seeks to one day regain the Sun's favour... somehow.

Erica Furza, Ventrue Clan. Met Lady Victoria, the Baroness of Blood among her kink groups, and she took an interest in the demure young lady. Eventually led her to her home, and Embraced her there, believing that the Embrace is an act for women, while Ghouldom is good enough for men. However, the shock of what had happened to her proved to be too much, and Erica BSODed in the basement of the Ordo Dracul's labs, wherein she hoped 'Torpor' would help her mental status.

And now:

Chapter 1: Ding Dong, Avon Calling
(note, this was copied and embellished upon from a chatlog with Jay)

It started with the four players meeting at Elysium, which is essentially a vampire 'truce' ground
Got the four of them pushed together by means of shenanigans
One of them (Erica) was just waking up from a self-induced coma, so I had the Exalted One basically say 'Oh hey, a fellow Ordo Dracul person... why don't you work wiiiiiiiith... -those- two'. Then had that character's Sire (Lady victoria) say to the fourth person (Bernard) 'Hey, you're Invictus. ... Watch my Childe. She may be a dissapointment, but she is -still- my Childe.

So then a little bit after their introductions, Lady Victoria from before sends a ghoul over, who then gives them a mission, basically saying that one of the ghouls she has has gone missing, and so this set them on a quest to find said ghoul

They find his house empty, his guinea pig nearly dead from starvation. Cue Bernard feeding on the guinea pig to heal the wounds on his face from tripping ona skateboard and faceplanting a glass coffee pot. They caught a scent of humans mingled with the ghoul (ghoul dog had awesome senses) and tracked the house down.

Three decided to sneak in the back while Muffin decided to use Awe at the front door and knocked at it wildly. There were four inside, and they listened to some of their conversation, mostly revolving around the 'vampire' they had found in the basement, wondering why he wanted human food instead of blood.

They run to the front door, where they meet the Daeva, who then opened with a speech about whether or not they wished to talk about 'Our Lord nad Saviour Jesus Christ.' Many Mormon Vampire jokes were made. She then gets a bunch of successful Confidant rolls and charmed 3/4 of them. They then decide that the cool new lady at the door should -totally- see the vampire they have in their basement. (Also one of the girls was a Muffin Whore fangirl, so that worked out - she got charmed for the night instead of an hour)

Other three run to the basement, find the ghoul in a cage, while Bernard is sneaking around, turning off lights (he gets a bonus in the dark to stealth rolls). He's also using Touch of Shadow on the doors, making them invisible. Eventually, all of them are in the basement, and nobody is noticing the other vampires creeping around, thanks to pretty good stealth rolls all around.

Erica pops out the fuse for the basement, and then... the killing starts. Bernard gets surprise on one of the guys and one-shots him pretty much (5 lethal damage, on 5 health mook. Dying, but not fully dead.) Guy falls over, and the smell of blood drives the very hungry Séraphine (she was at 4 vitae) into a feeding Frenzy - she starts trying over and over to grapple and feed of the fangirl hunter. It should be mentioned that these were -not- competent hunters.

Erica gets the ghoul out of the cage, and leads him upstairs, away from the fighting, while Bernard starts tearing into more people. He basically drops the 'elite' hunter I made (7 health) in one hit. Bloody Sword... should start giving these guys better defense. Séraphine is feeding like a hungry motherfucker, and Muffin... is taunting and goading on the hunters, while keeping them from getting up the stairs.

Eventually, the party of hunters was stopped - Bernard went Kill Frenzy after a hunter stabbed him with a Machete at low Vitae. Bernard proceeded to lift the guy over him, shatter his spine, and then start punching his head until it was reduced to a fine paste. Also mercy killed the girl that Séraphine was feeding on, and then set about topping himself off of the corpses.

Cleanup was taken care of, with the bodies being dissolved in some kind of acid thing that I can't remember the name of, the Ghoul was reunited with Lady Victoria, and the others returned to their various Havens after doing whatever for the remainder of the night (Cause we had been playing for about 5 hours at that point, amidst much browser troubles)

Detachment Rolls made:
Bernard Washington - Mass Murder, Humanity 1 Sin. 2 dice rolled. Pass.
Séraphine - Impassioned Violence. Humanity 4 Sin, 4 Dice rolled. Pass.
Isabella LeDoux - Injuring Someone Over Blood, Humanity 7 Sin, 6 Dice rolled. Pass.

Beats/EXP:
Bernard - 4/5, 0 EXP
Séraphine - 3/5, 1 EXP (Left over from character creation)
Isabella Ledoux - 2/5, 0 EXP
Erica Furze - 2/5, 0EXP

You can plan and plan and plan and they will still find ways to stymie, confuse, and out right ruin your plans Kat.

Actually, things went roughly according to plan. I had figured they would either try to social the ghoul out, or murder everyone. I just didn't know that Bernard would be such a beast in combat.

Yep. These fuckers are gonna lose humanity one way or another. (Seriously, success on TWO DICE). Though it won't matter, cause Bernard is planning to take a Killing Bane the moment he loses a humanity for that.

A glance into my own writing for my note organizing:

Notes on Giovanni:
Health 14
Speed 15
Resilience 5
Vigor 4
Defense 6
Celerity 4
Blood Potency 5. His Die Pool for rolling Competitive Beast is 9, with 8 again
HAS DOMINATE 5. The roll for his mental manipulations will be:
Mesmerize - 11 vs Resolve + BP
Entombed Command - 12 - Resolve
Possession - 13 - Resolve

6 Willpower. Spends these to boost Brawl and Mesmerize.
Holds 20 Vitae - often uses this to boost Vigor and use Physical intensity, to boost his Dice Pool with Fists to 18 (Jesus)

When in combat:
Fists are a dice pool of 12, due to Brawl + Specialty + Vigor + Strength.
Knife Dice pool is 8, due to Weaponry + Vigor + Strength (If he boosts this with vigor though, he risks breaking his knives due to Vigor 4, Durability 3 on knives)

Giovanni has 8-Again on Competitve Beast (Cutthroat)

Giovanni is a very typical Daeva, but a seemingly very atypical Dragon. He rose through the ranks with a drive to succeed, and that drive is what led him to also take over the City, once the current Prince was taken care of.

Description: 'Before you stands a veritable mountain of a man. Or at the very least, he feels like a mountain. He is only wearing pants, shoes, and a few pieces of ornate jewelry around his neck and wrists (Rumour - Taken from vampires he's had killed). His chest is bare, allowing an unobstructed view of his muscular physique. There are a few scars along his body here and there, but the man's arms are thick, and project an aura of power about them. His eyes are a deep red, his hair is long, a tad mussed, and a brilliant, almost golden colour. His stance is one of confidence, of control, and of power. You know this to be the man you've heard of - Giovanni, the Exalted One of Toronto.'

----------------------------

A terrible piece of Equipment
Vampire Fang Uniform (1-3 Dot Variety)

This fascinating garment is crafted by Ordo Dracul scientists, using the extracted fangs of Kindred that have suffered Final Death, ground into a fine powder, and lining the inside of a jacket, and treated with particular rites and Coils. Only a few of these are known to function as intended though, the malfunctioning ones draining a Kindred dry in a matter of moments, driving them into a Killing Frenzy.

While worn, a kindred may at will open a veing underneath a part of the jacket covering their skin. The jacket drinks the Vitae at the rate of (Dot Rating) every turn. While it does this, The Kindred wearing it gains dots in Vigor and Celerity equal to this the VFU's dot rating, and may spend Vitae as if they were their own.

If unable to drain Vitae, The Kindred starts taking Lethal Damage for every point of Vitae unable to be drained. A Kindred may close the wound at any point for an insubstantial amount of Vitae. While Empty on Vitae, a Kindred suffers a -2 penalty to resist Frenzying. A Frenzy while wearing a VFU is -always- a Kill Frenzy

----------------------------

The Revenant: (A quest I'm working on for next session)
A few ensanguinated corpses are being found, but thankfully disposed of before people can start getting too suspicious. A Revenant is behind this. They can either kill her, run her out of town, Sire her, or maybe even bring her to the Ordo Dracul. Poor kid probably doesn't even know she's a Revenant.

The Revenant's name is Alicia Clark. She died a few days ago, after she got in between a pair of hunters and her boyfriend. Said boyfriend was a Vampire, and had been for some time. (In fact, questioning her further will lead to the name Louis Brown - whom Giovanni will identify as a member of Lancea et Sanctum - that can be a quest chain on its own actually...). She rose as a revenant due to the multiple feedings he'd done upon her.

She got stabbed (exceptional success) and bled out quickly. In order to cover this up, the hunters simply found an unused plot of land and buried her quickly. No name, no records - no mess. However. She still rose, and clawed her way out from the grave only a few days later.

She is terrified, and feels isolated. She knows not where this ravenous hunger comes from in her gullet. She knows nothing about her condition, and unfortunately, she has killed at least a dozen people in her time. She will be wary of the party, but can probably get convinced to come along. If anyone offers her Vitae, she will accept, and start drinking until she is forcibly pulled off (Enjoy your free Blood Bond whoever goes first).

If she is provoked into combat though...

ALICIA CLARK
Health 8
Init Mod 5
6 Vitae.
4 Defense, due to Wits 1, Athletics 3.
Blood Potency: 1
Weapon: Baseball Bat (Functions like a Crowbar. +2 Damage, -2 Init, Str 1, Size 2)
Problem - that baseball bat will break after one swing, because...
Disciplines: Vigor 3.
Which means that after one swing, that Baseball bat becomes:
Weapon: Stake. (+0 Damage, -4 Init, Str 1, Size 1)
She -will- go for the Heart, and the penalty will be canceled out by her vigor boosting. She's going on instinct, based on what she heard the hunters say.
Attack pool - Str 3 + Vigor 3 + Weaponry 2 = 8. This can go as high as 16(8 + Willpower boost + Vigor Boost + Physical Intensity). 11 On a vigor boosted attack.
Willpower 4.

Auspex potential questions/Beast interpretations:
'How did this girl die?' A shield is pierced through by a knife.
'What is wrong with this girl?' A single drop of precious Vitae in a glass of water.
'Why is she so scared?' A cornered animal, snarling, surrounded by larger predators.
"Would you like something to drink?" She opened the fridge. "We have water, milk, juice, spiders, Dr. Pepper-"
"Spiders?"
"Spiders it is then."
"No, that wasn't-"
But she was already pouring him a brimming glass of spiders.

And now, the most likely quest for Sunday (I will of course report on how things happen)

Blood Hunt...?
A young neonate has not taken the hint. They have been shouting more and more about crazy conspiracy theories. 'The Prince was staked by Giovanni' he shouts, 'The Prince was murdered by Giovanni' he continues. Giovanni has had enough of his ramblings, and refuses to allow this Kindred who once received his blessing reign in his domain any longer. Combine that with the fact that his recent acts have been almost in risk of Masquerade Breaches... Giovanni believes that his silence will allow for a bit more peaceful Kindred living.

However... Why has he begun his insane ramblings?

The Sheriff will contact several influential members of Kindred Society in order to spread the word. Oftentimes in person, and simply delivers the following message, word for word: 'Jason Hernandez has been a thorn in Giovanni's side for far too long. Remove it.' Jason's feeding grounds is a small block around Bloor street, specifically near a few clubs.

Jason in Question:
6'0", well toned build, lightly tanned skin - though that really doesn't matter -too- much... as he never used Blush of Life. Despite his relative young age though, He is still dangerous though, as he seems to have begun a flagrant downward spiral of Humanity. He wears a blue hoodie, black pants, and simple running shoes.

Jason, when confronted, will be very wary of why a number of other Kindred have approached him. It will not take a lot though to provoke him into battle, and when that happens, he will clumsily use a nearby tire iron.

Jason's Predatory Aspect is set to:
Claws - Ragged claws burst their way from his fingertips, ending in a cruel jagged point - 1L weapon, sure, but he has a specialty.
Quadrupedal - His arms will lengthen, allowing him actually a better reach with his claws (though not by much) - +4 running speed
Wall-Crawling - If truly threatened, he will start running. And fast. He will use whatever means he can to escape, even if it means crawling across windows or walls.

Attributes: Intelligence 2, Wits 3, Resolve 2, Strength 3, Dex 3, Stamina 3, Presence 2, Manipulation 1, Composure 3.

Skills that Matter: Athletics (Running) 3, Brawl (Claws) 3, Intimidation (Predator form) 2, Animal Ken 3 (Animalism), Weaponry 3

Willpower: 5
Initiative Mod: 6
Defense: 6
Health: 8
Vitae: 10.
BP: 1

Disciplines:
Protean 2
Animalism 2

JASON'S GANGREL FAMILIARS:
Jason has two familiars with him - a small dog and a large dog, named Tibalt and Rustyn. They used to be his pets before his embrace. Now however, he keeps them as his loyal familiars.

Tibalt is a beagle, who seems to be missing an ear. Rustyn is a Golden retriever who's tail never wags - it can be seen that the tail is broken around the middle, and hangs loosely.

TIBALT:
Attributes: Intelligence 1, Wits 4, Resolve 4, Strength 2, Dexterity 3, Stamina 3, Presence 3, Manipulation 1, Composure 3

Skills: Athletics (Running) 3, Brawl 2, Intimidation 1, Stealth 1, Survival (Tracking) 3
Willpower: 7
Initiative: 6
Defense: 6
Speed: 11 (species factor 6)
Size: 2
Weapons/Attacks:
Type Damage Dice Pool
Bite +0 4
Health: 5

RUSTYN:
Attributes: Intelligence 1, Wits 4, Resolve 4, Strength 4, Dexterity 3, Stamina 3, Presence 4, Manipulation 1, Composure 3
Skills: Athletics (Running) 4, Brawl 3, Intimidation 3, Stealth 1, Survival (Tracking) 3
Willpower: 7
Initiative: 6
Defense: 7
Speed: 14 (species factor 7)
Size: 4
Weapons/Attacks:
Type Damage Dice Pool
Bite +0 6
Health: 7

When at low Health, and at risk of Torpor, if Jason is about to take Damage that would put him at full lethal damage, his focus will snap to the weapon at hand, and he will plead for mercy. He will mention that he has not been well - something else has been lurking in his head, puppeting his body around - Hence why he's using a tire iron instead of his trademark claws.

Questions to other people:
Lady Victoria knows of him. She regards him with Disdain, partly because of his Beastial Nature (Jason is a Gangrel). She knows roughly where the Gangrel resides, though with the knowledge of the Blood Hunt, she's uncertain how far he might've fled to. Assuming he even -does- know of the hunt. Will confirm that he does indeed, pop claws at the first sign of trouble.

Velka has heard of him. Doesn't know much more than that though. Knows though that he has no set haven - She knows indeed that Jason uses Unmarked grave for a haven, since it's easier than finding a place every night. Also remarks on how easy he is to provoke to anger, and pops claws at the first sign of trouble.

AUSPEX QUESTIONS:
Why has he gone this insane? Long tendrils of blood start to lengthen from Jason's limbs, leading off to some unknown location. A string moves, and then the arm moves. - Jason is under the effects of Possession. In fact, he has been for some time.
Who were these dogs to him? A collar, with a leash of bones leading from Jason to each dog appears.
"Would you like something to drink?" She opened the fridge. "We have water, milk, juice, spiders, Dr. Pepper-"
"Spiders?"
"Spiders it is then."
"No, that wasn't-"
But she was already pouring him a brimming glass of spiders.

I originally had Jason set to use Predatory Aspect the moment shit hit the fan... until I read this bit from the 'Possession' skill:

'She cannot use Disciplines or Blood Sorcery when possessing someone else, nor can she access any supernatural powers her victim may possess, but she otherwise controls his body totally.'

So, Tire Iron. Considering the fact that everyone and their mum is going to be saying 'watch out - he's known to pop claws'... that should raise some suspicions.

The familiars still work though, since all they need is Vitae to keep them running, and it doesn't rely on someone using the Discipline.

Chapter 2: Red Moon Rising

Well, the session started out with me being able to initiate a quest that I wasn't certain I'd be able to bring up. Bernard, upon waking up spotted the Sheriff, who was busy dragging an exsanguinated corpse off of Bernard's territory. The sheriff -did- quickly explain that this was -not- what it looked like, and that the sheriff was trying to dispose of this body before anyone else found it, also saying that this was -not- the first one he's found. This annoyed Bernard. Not because there was an exsanguinated corpse on his property, oh no. It was that someone was poaching on his feeding grounds.

After a brief checkup of the body, taking it from the sheriff, and having Max sniff it, he called up Seraphine, to basically see if she could glean anything from the body with Auspex. After Muffin and Seraphine made it to Bernard's location (Erica was staying at an Ordo Dracul lab trying to sort things), Seraphine decided to call upon her Dream Visions merit ability to try and ask a question about 'what happened' to him. She failed her roll, and decided to up it to dramatic failure - hey, Beats are beats. In fact, Beats flowed a fair amount this game. The impact of her dream caused her to get confused, and believe that owls were responsible for the death of this particular hobo, and she very nearly developed a phobia of the things. (She got better).

Erica, on the the other hand, was informed by the Sheriff of the Blood Hunt going in effect on Jason Hernandez, and passed the news on to Bernard by means of a cell phone call. At that news though, the knowledge of the drained hobo was shoved to the back burner. At that knowledge, he wanted to go on that hunt. The poacher could wait. The team paid a visit to a contact of Seraphine's first though - a Gangrel by the name of Velka, who would tell the party that indeed, the Gangrel they were looking for was a bit of a loose cannon, though also a member of Lancea et Sanctum. As well as the usual info about him being a claw-popping gangrel at the first sign of trouble.

The group made it down near the feeding grounds of Jason, and decided to try and get his attention by herding up a bunch of his preferred feeding targets with Muffin's Awe - brunette females. This... did not succeed in attracting him. However it did get the attention of a police officer investigating the grafitti placed impossibly high up on a building for a regular person. Muffin then tried to blame it on a new band coming out, known only as 'Giovanni's Murder.' Well, that's one way to cover up the graffiti and ramblings I suppose.

They found Jason, and Seraphine set about basically Auspexing every turn - they soon made the assumption that Jason was under the effects of Dominate. This was then followed by Bernard basically saying 'Alright. Well, only way to free him is to beat the shit out of him. Max. Let's go.'

Combat was... once again, fairly trivial. Ish. With them fighting a Kindred instead of some humans, as well as some dogs, things got a -tiny- bit dicier... By which I mean it took Bernard a lot longer to whittle him down. He was the only one that really did a lot in combat... cause that's thusfar kinda his thing. Jason -did- get off a good solid whack with his Tire Iron though. One of the more notable moments though, was when, due to her low combat pool, Seraphine was told 'anything you do will be a chance die, so go do whatever' And she decided to take a machete she'd stolen from the hunters the previous night, and try a leaping downward strike. Whatever, Chance Die, how bad can it be?

Rolls a 1. Dramatic Failure. She slips and stabs herself through the eye, also gets a bit of the brain. Nearly provokes a Kill Frenzy as well. (Erica talked her down though with a well-placed Mesmerize). Since it was -such- a dramatic failure though, I had to make it extra special. But more on that in a moment or two.

Also, Muffin played crowd control, Aweing nearby citizens so as to draw their attention to her, and -not- the horrible bumfight going on in the alley.

Eventually, Bernard lands a vicious armsnap, and then Jason comes to, confused, in agony, and wondering what in the -hell- happened. Bernard did not let down on being intimidating though, and basically had him dragged back to face Giovanni. They -did- learn though that this was most likely a Possession, and -not- a Dominated condition lingering on. During the car ride, Erica found herself idly rubbing at the former headwound she had, wondering more and more about how it hurt... and why she was still standing.

Giovanni was all to happy to see the little neonate brought before him, adn nearly went in to deal with him, before he was informed of the bigger picture at stake - the fact that he was Possessed. Begrudgingly, Giovanni lifted the Blood Hunt, though made sure to have word spread that Jason had pleaded for his meaningless life. And then Erica -made- him beg anyways, due to Mesmerize. Two well-place dMesmerizations, and the supplantation of one's will just to fulfill her own desires... Maybe Erica's not so innocent after all. Then again, she can't be as bad as Lady Victoria... right?

The session ended with the four of them splitting off and grabbing a bite to drink, before the session ended...

Detachment Rolls made:
Bernard Washington - Impassioned Violence. Humanity 4 Sin. 4 Dice rolled. Pass.
Séraphine - Experiencing immense physical trauma - Humanity 6 sin. 5 Dice rolled. Failure.
Yes siree! Second session, and one of the Neckbiters is down one humanity!
Due to her Mekhet status, when she drops to 6 Humanity, she gains -two- Banes. One is the 'Tenebrous Curse', which treats her Humanity as being lower for the purposes of Sunlgiht damage and Torpor durations. The second Bane is just something she takes that is not tied to any particular humanity sin. Poor Mekhet. Séraphine now has 'Holy Day: Thursday', which means she cannot resist Daysleep on Thursdays at all. Oh well.

Aspirations Fulfilled:
Yep, none of this went through last week, so I didn't put this here. but everyone did this time!
Bernard Washington - Participate in a Blood Hunt. Replaced with 'Deal with the Poacher'
Séraphine - Learn how to Fight (Well, she learned how -not- to fight at least =p) - Replacement uncertain.
Isabella LeDoux - Become known in the Party Scene - By heralding the start of a new 'band', she has become known as an advocate for them. Replaced with 'Sway a high ranking official'
Erica Furze - Gain Status in Invictus - She spent the EXP she earned at the end of the session on a Status dot, so that works. Unknown replacement thusfar.

Beasts/EXP
Bernard Washington - 3/5, 1 EXP
Séraphine - 3/5, 2 EXP
Isabella LeDoux - 0/5, 1EXP
Erica Furze - 1/5, 0 EXP (Earned 1, spent it on Status (Invictus) 1)

Till next Sunday~
"Would you like something to drink?" She opened the fridge. "We have water, milk, juice, spiders, Dr. Pepper-"
"Spiders?"
"Spiders it is then."
"No, that wasn't-"
But she was already pouring him a brimming glass of spiders.

Session 3: Something Wicked Comes

This session was a bit more loose than prior ones, mostly since instead of having an entire quest written down, I simply had a few tiny lines, that I did somehow manage to make work as a full lengthed session. So either I'm good at bullshitting, or I'm actually a competent Storyteller. My money's on the former as opposed to the latter, but that's just showing where my confidence is. Also, sorry this took a while, I've had lots of things going on – such as having a friend from North Carolina over for a few days. Also, there wasn't a session last Sunday due to a player being absent, and I simply prefer to have all four players available. Makes things easier.

Anyways, where was I. Ah yes, the session. Well, this was a simpler session, since it was based on just a couple small events, but the players did 90% of the work, stretching out the ideas I had. This all began with the various characters meeting up at the main Wyrm's Lair, to see if there was any kind of specific research anyone was looking at. Well, it just so happened that Velka -was- looking for some assistance. Specifically, she and her field wished to observe the effects of the Embrace on one considered 'Half-Damned' – a Ghoul, a Revenant, or even a Dhampir if they could find one.

The idea was proposed that Isabella simply bring one of the people in her Herd over, leaving them with the Ordo Dracul just as a form of collateral, or an emergency 'He's yours' in terms of research. They managed to convince someone to come over, thanks to a well placed Mesmerize roll, and a few well-placed lies from Isabella in terms of just how much the little guy would be able to get away with. He was then put to sleep, resting in a kennel. Alan's story continues in a bit.

Upon leaving the lair, the four were approached by a human by the name of Angelina Riddle. Not a ghoul, not Kindred – in essence, they were completely human… who mentioned that she knew what the four were. She spoke of strange dreams she'd been having, and also her desire for safety, believing firmly that she would be safest with these four. She spoke of visions – teeth surrounding her, hot splashes of water and pained screams, confused hungry fearful women… and also mentioned that she woke up one day, and simply knew of the Masquerade, of the Kindred – even what clans our four intrepid… 'heroes' were from.

Muffin offered a solution – Angelina could stay at her own haven for now until a -truly- safe place could be found. Muffin's haven is also her feeding ground, as it is simply full of various fans and groupies of her music. Angelina, still fearing for her life, accepted without much hesitation. Séraphine and Muffin opted to escort her to the Haven, in case something went wrong along the way

Meanwhile, Bernard and Erica had started heading downtown, to search for a woman that Angelina had a vision regarding – mentioning a specific chain restaurant. They found the restaurant, and Erica stepped inside to ask a few questions – the man behind the counter had mentioned that, in terms of 'odd things', he'd seen a girl come in, order food, take a bite, and then spit it out in confusion and anguish, before exiting swiftly.

Bernard had managed to find the girl, feeling her predatory aura, and cornering the poor, confused – that girl being Alicia Clark, a Revenant. Hungry, and scared, she backed away fearfully from Bernard. Bernard though had remained calm, and simply told her that he knew what she needed… going so far as to open a vein on his wrist, and letting her drink. Three sessions in, and we now have a freshly established blood bond. Woo. He drove with her back toward the Wyrm's lair, though he had no intention of letting them turn her into a full on Vampire – he'd already grown at least a bit protective, and simply wants to keep her close. Who knows, she may become useful in the future.

But then came the complication… they did not have someone Half-Damned to offer to the Ordo Dracul, in order to let them conduct further research. Back to Alan it seems =p. Alan was still in a kennel, and was then woken up and re-mesmerised by Erica in order to keep him calm. Cue… the return of a certain someone. I'll give you a hint. He's six foot three and built like a mountain. Giovanni had entered, mostly just as a checkup – plus, I enjoy keeping him a semi-constant presence. He had learned of the research, and simply decided to be a bit more proactive. He'd decided right then and there to put hs -own- Mesmerization on Alan… and succeeded (10 successes on 11 dice, I shit you not.)

The session ended sortly after Giovanni said two things. The first was him holding a wrist out to Allan, and simply saying 'Drink'. In his hapless state, he agreed without hesitation. He then left with only three final words: 'He's all yours'.

Maybe Alan will return. As for when, how, and why… that's for me to know, and the players to eventually find out~

I have decided to leave out the beats and aspirations section, since honestly, the Detachment rolls are more fun to keep track of. I'll mention whenever someone decided to spend EXP on stuff though.

That being said, there were no Humanity detachment rolls made this session.

A lot has happened in the interim between the last post I made and now. There's been a few more sessions, and I've been having guests over left right and center, which has been keeping me from doing my write-ups. So what I'm going to end up delivering here is a cliffs note version of what happened.

For starters, the group has been doing some more tasks here and there for the Ordo Dracul, the most recent one being the aforementioned 'We wanna test the embrace on people that already have the curse within them'

In the time between back then and now, Bernard had raised Alicia's Blood Bond to level 3. Because that's how the Invictus does business - Get people to a full blood bond, and ensure their loyalty.

Oh yes, there was also the bit that we all nicknamed 'Lady Victoria's Bad Day'. You guys will love this. So, After learning that a Revenant was going to be joining the Invictus, Lady Victoria lost her shit. A -Half Blood- is joining the Invictus, but a Kindred she sired ran off to play with Dragons? Oh fuck no. Not on her watch. In a fit of anger and temporary insanity, she confronted Erica and ejected her from her haven, telling her never to return.

Unfortunately, this is where I learned that I need to actually cover-to-cover that book at one point. Erica had an Invictus Oath - the Oath of Serfdom - which basically said that Lady Victoria was bound to keep Erica in her home. In breaking that Oath, she was subject to... certain penalties. At a later point in that session, Erica got a hold of the Invictus Notary, to explain what happened. I thne had to one-side a phonecall, which went... well,t he first half went a little something like this:

"You are not Lady Victoria, so you're probably one of her 'pets'. Which one is it? Victor? Vincent? VonDelle? Varius? ... David. ... Ah, you're the newbie. Well, this is The Notary. ... The Notary. ... I just told you. ... I AM THE NOTARY. ... THE. NOTARY. That's my title, that's the only name I give out. ... T-H-E, N-O-T-A-R-Y. ... Oh for fuck's sake, put Lady Victoria on the phone. ... ... What do you mean she's 'busy'? ... Just tell her to put the crop down for a moment and... I dunno, slap a blindfold on the sub she's with. Call it sensory deprivation. Subs like that, right? ... THE FUCKING NOTARY THAT'S WHO. Swear to god, I will walk over there, and shove my foot SO far up your ass, that you'll need- Good Evening Lady Victoria, how are you!"'

Needless to say, Those two dots of 'Oath of Serfdom' turned into Resources 2, to represent Lady Victoria now needing to pay off her 'embarrassment' of a Childe to keep her status as an Oathbreaker under wraps... but she failed to account for one thing. In order to find the Notary, Erica had to speak with another Invictus member... specifically Bernard. Bernard used this opportunity to place his -own- phonecall to Lady Victoria:

'Hello there Lady Victoria, this is Bernard. Just thought I'd let you know a fun little detail. You may have paid off Erica, but -I- know of what you've done, and I have a drafted text message in my phone that's ready to head out to the Harpy. I am willing to of course, delete it, but I want your -full- cooperation with a little something. I want to be the Sheriff. Help me with that, and I'll delete this text, no one has to know that you're an Oathbreaker. Alright? Alright. Talk to you later sweetheart. -hangs up-'

I then fluffed it a bit to say: 'Meanwhile, back at Lady Victoria's estate, the phone that she just answered twice has been slightly crushed in her hand, and then it impacted the wall seconds later. This was followed by a shout of 'I better see a new phone there by sundown or -somebody's- getting a whipping!'

Good times.

I'm a little hazy on some of the other things that happened over the long period of not writing stuff down, so here's some more cliff notes before I summarize the -big- events of the previous session.

-Bernard dropped to 6 humanity, which activated his Nosferatu curse/deformity, wherein his facial muscles just seem to freeze up. His smiles never look genuine, his expressions always seem... threatening.
-That humanity was given to Alicia, in order to uplift her to full Kindred Status. Her nosferatu 'weirdness' is that the noise she makes is delayed by a second. She takes a few steps, but the footfalls don't occur until later. She slams her fists on a desk, but the impact isn't heard until a moment later. She speaks, but the words she says never seem to match the words she's saying...
-They investigated the source of Alicia's Revenant Nature - and discovered that her illegitimate Sire was a former Deacon of the Lancea et Sanctum - beheaded and staked by hunters.
-Angelina got made into a Ghoul by Muffin Whore.
-Seraphine made a Ghoul in a coffee shop.
-The group found and fought two child vampires in an alley. These turned out to be a -huge- challenge, since I never realized just how much you can nearly destroy a party by raising the Blood Potency of someone.

Yes. Child Vampires. Brother(14) and Sister(12). Brother was sired by -someone- that the party is uncertain of. Sister was sired by her Brother.

World of Darkness (And by extension, me, kinda) is fucked up.

They were fought due to the fact that they were being suspected of being behind a string of gruesome murders that were sweeping through the city.

-We got to meet an Invictus Contact in the police station named Justin Bailey, who had the Brother's torpored corpse dropped on his desk by Muffin. He was not happy about that.
-Seraphine Auspexed a fun factoid - The one who sired the boy was a member(or former member) of the Ordo Dracul. The Dragons are kinda fucked up.

I'm probably forgetting some crucial details from those sessions. This is why I need to actually keep a consistent series of notes and writeups.

Now, last session... Last session was a doozy.

For starters, Justin Bailey got a hold of Bernard, to explain a few things he'd learned. The Brother was sired by the Ordo Dracul, He also sired his own sister. There's a few more of the bastards running around, though the exact number was uncertain. However, something was certain - they needed the sister, and they needed any others of these to be silenced. Oh yes - and they learned that the kid was a Mekhet. Which means we have a bunch of Mind Reading kids running around, probably with Obfuscate. Fun times.

Seraphine decided to go on a date with her new Ghoul friend. Ha. Puns. Anyways, this led to an actual bit of amusing drama - Bernard and Erica tried to get a hold of Seraphine to drag her along and seek out these kids. Seraphine however just wanted to continue her date in peace.

This led to some amusing moments though. Bernard ended up just heading to the death site of the Brother, They figured that the girl would eventually head there. So, they used Animalism to convince an Owl to find them if it saw the girl. Simple enough.

Meanwhile with Seraphine... On the way home from her date though, she encountered a problem. After dropping off her date she found the sister. Or rather, the sister found her, pressing a gun to the back of her head, wanting to know where her brother was. She didn't know, so she was told to call up 'That psycho that put him to sleep.' Also informed that if she said where she was, she'd pull the trigger, again and again. She saw how effective it was when she blew out a chunk of Bernard's head after all. Oh yeah. Bernard got a chunk of his head blown off by a lucky shot. He was fine though. Bashing Damage yo.

Now, what happened next was... actually very clever, I had to give it to them for their cleverness. The girl had spoken up at one point, and Bernard's acute senses picked up that, at the very least, Seraphine was not alone. And then he simply asked for her boyfriend's name, while mentioning 'Wasn't his name the same as a street or something?'

The Ghoul's name was Lawrence. And coincidentally, that was the street they were on - Lawrence Avenue West. this was followed by asking for the Ghoul's phone number. But the last three digits were the address reversed.

What followed was... insanity. Bernard found the place and basically blindsided the girl, running her through with his sword. Yes, he had a sword. He had two swords in fact. Isn't Obfuscate great? The girl frenzied right away, and tunnel-visioned onto Bernard, wishing to avenge her fallen brother. Bernard used this opportunity to run like hell, dragging the girl away from being out in the open. The two ended up in a tight grapple, both trying to bite at the other and drain each other dry.

This was when Muffin got a brilliant idea. Firecrackers. at point blank range, she fired one at the pair, and used Pyrokinetics to enlarge the flame. Yes. I had a vampire with Pyrokinetic capabilities in the party. Two things that go together like oil and water. I know. I know, I'm an idiot. I rectified this mistake after seeing the horror that was brought forth. So, she ended up setting both the girl -and Bernard on fire.

Nothing burns quite like Kindred Flesh. It automatically deals Aggravated damage to them, and that can kill a Kindred in seconds. Which... was unfortunately the case. the girl decided that she wanted one last crack at taking down Bernard, and got a lucky amount of damage... leaving him at 7 aggravated, and 1 lethal. He was already in Torpor, and... well, on fire.

Erica had tried to smother the flames, but failed in a roll to do it quickly, and so ended Bernard's career as a PC. Something like... 7 sessions? Still, he admitted he had a good run, and was not sore about it...

However, I quickly erased the pyrokinetics from Muffin, after realizing just how powerful that was. As per Sanctity of Merits, Muffin's player gets back their merit dots that they invested into 'The Cult of the Black Flame.'

Also, Seraphine fled the scene immediately upon seeing the fire. Frenzy and all that. She did learn through Auspex that there are twelve of these bastards roaming around the city. Yay.

...

However, I need to address something else that came up, which... made the entire session sorta sit with a cold lump in my throat.

Erica's player, after this session, approached me and expressed a desire to leave the group. She felt she didn't fit in with the other players, as somewhat expressed by just how little she had her character ever even do. It was a hard moment, and... basically at that point, I had to end the skype call. I just couldn't take much more.

Down a PC, and down a player. So, down two PCs technically.

To try and lighten the mood, I left my players with this the following day:

Serenade: So... in order to alleviate the downer-ness of the last session, I am presenting this statement
Next session, I am presenting you with the opportunity for a silly moment
The next Vampire session will be on April 19th, 2015. The date in-game, will be April 14th 2015.
In real-world Toronto, the band Nightwish is going to be playing at the Phoenix Concert Theater
In WoD-World Toronto, the same thing is happening
In real-world Toronto, I am going to be attending that concert
In WoD-World Toronto, 'I' am going to be attending that concert =p
Ghoul her, drain her, make her do something silly with Confidant
Make her sign bad cheques

Hermod: Imma going to make you my ghoul and make you give me all the xp
Abby: Find her, read her mind.
Hydria: Find her. Have sex with her.

----

There will be another post in the nearby future about the new PCs entering the fray... There won't be a session this upcoming Sunday, because I need to get my thoughts in order, probably take down some notes.

Those are fun as hell. Had a rarely played Malk from the OWoD. Bat shit crazy, loved watching flames and hearing mortals, vamps and... well anything scream.

Still not sure why the GM let him live as long as he did, but he went out in a literal blaze of glory in a mixed species game when he ... inconvenienced a werewolf preacher who was "cleansing the city of the Devil's spawn" (Read vamps, fomor, and anything not human, kin, Garou, or male). Think Caleb from the last season of Buffy.

The local pack, the local vamps, heck even a "slayer" (never did find out what she was) where hunting him.

Got very lucky and well ... third degree burns hurt even rage monsters. Shame my half burnt corpse was then ripped to pieces in the resulting frenzy. But the wolf was put down, and the weres did honor my character's sacrifice.

I actually forgot a small detail - If Muffin's willpower ever reached 0 while using Pyrokinetics, she would have exploded. She originally also grabbed a sharps container from a university bathroom.

Her idea was to turn herself into a shrapnel bomb and take out the vampire with her. NEEDLES.

Really needles? admittedly I am not up on the new setting but wouldn't wood shrapnel still be better then metal? Unless the needles where infected with something that caused uncontrolled bleeding.

Seraphine, the party's Mekhet, has had an infatuation with her Beast for some time now. So much so, that she was wanting to learn Protean in order to see her Beast made real.

Problem - this would take a significant amount of time, and Seraphine has -zero- interest in Unmarked Grave. Her player has been -begging- me for a way around this.

Ask, and ye shall receive:

------------------

Devotion: Manifest Monstrosity
Prerequisites: Must be learned from a Gangrel, Recipient must not be Gangrel

Some Kindred form a sympathetic bond with their own Beasts. Mostly Gangrel, but sometimes others are known to do this. Some even have a mental image of what their beast looks like to them. Some see a swirl of claws and fangs, occasionally forming a face. Some simply see a phantom image of their sire. Whatever the case, some wish to see their beast made real. And there are soome who would be willing to pay anything for that.

When taking Manifest Monstrosity, choose two adaptations from Predatory Aspect, and how they would appear on the Kindred. These cannot be changed at a later date, even as the Kindred sleeps, so choose carefully

Cost: 1 Vitae
Dice Pool: None
Action: Instant
Duration: Scene

This Devotion functions as Predatory Aspect, with the key difference that the Kindred does not need Protean to use it. The other difference is that, being an instant action, the Kindred must spend their turn causing activating this power. The adaptations that form can be the example ones shown, or custom ones developed between the Storyteller and the Player.

This Devotion costs 2 Experience to learn. Furthermore, the recipient gains Tempted (Persistent), incurring a permanent -1 on all future frenzy checks.

---------------------------

EDIT: After some discussion with an outside source, I've decided instead to make a Unique Bloodline, rather than just give a character a bootleg Protean

Chapter 8: Panic at the Disco!

Before we begin, I have a new character to introduce you guys to.

Ladies, Former Gentlemen, meet Terry. Terry is a Gangrel, who follows the ways of the Crone. After being diagnosed with Cancer in her mortal life, she nearly gave up on being able to live her life as she wanted... Bald, frail, and sickly, she spotted one of the nurses feeding on another, and, rather than ask for death, she begged to join them, anything to dull the pain of her life... Granted new life, she does what she can to live life to the fullest... even if she and her Sire didn't leave each other on the best of terms...

Terry is a terrifying combat monster by the way. You'll learn more about that later.

The session began as per usual - asking each person what they wished to do. Muffin began her session by learning of another vision from Angelina (Who has been nicknamed Cupcake Bitch much to her chagrin. Did I mention that?). The vision of gangrel claws clashing in... some kind of park of roses. She couldn't make sense of it though...

Seraphine began her day by scoping out her apartment building, once again looking to torment her latest victim - the otaku with the figurines. He was awake this time, and so, she left him alone. She managed to get a bite to drink though, but at some point, she should probably consider moving out of her apartment for her hunting... You know how the phrase goes, something like 'I don't shit where I eat' or something like that. This is just my words though, Seraphine's player can't see this after all, heck, none of the players are even aware of this board's existence.

The two of thme met in Muffin's apartment, and through some -fantastic- deductive reasoning (read, Dramatic Failure on an investigation roll), they figured out that the vision Angelina had corresponded with Sunnybrook Park - known for its roses being all around. So they went on their way there...

Meanwhile, at Rouge Park, Terry emerged. She's a Gangrel, she sleeps in the dirt, she's weird like that. She's also somewhat claimed the entire park as her feeding ground... Granted, there's nothing mechanical behind that (yet), but are -you- going to tell her that? She grabbed a snack (some stoner kid who she scared half to death), and spotted another vampire starting to tag up her territory... Starting to write 'GIOVANNI' on the concrete, but was stopped when Terry essentially beat the shit out of him... forcing an end to his Possession.

Oh yes. I'm bringing back that plotline. Possessed Gangrels. Terry proceeded to find a bridge to dance naked under. Circle of the Crone. It's a hell of a thing.

Anyways, back at Sunnybrook Park, Seraphine gets a phonecall... according to the caller ID, it's Erica? Though after answering the phone... it definitely wasn't Erica. It was someone who claimed to 'share her condition' and wished to 'deliver her remains, as well as possessions'...
This led to a van pulling up near the park, with a pair of vampire hunters stepping out after a moment... They tried calling Seraphine's phone again, only to be met wiht Muffin pulling a -very- good Bluff, and managing to thwart the hunter's attempt to find them (Exceptional Success, which, I felt at least, cancelled the Dramatic Failure)

The two decided 'Maybe trackable phones among our kind isn't a good idea' and they destroyed their current phones, and obtained a new pair - one phone each for regular connections, and a second 'burner' phone that they could use for their limited vampiric contacts. Genius.

As the two walked through the streets of downtown, they happened to meet Terry, and managed to convince her that 'Heeey, we should look out for each other, things like that.'

Oh right, a segue, because I just remembered a mini detail. Remember ages ago when that one Gangrel was tagging places with phrases like 'Giovanni is a Murderer'? Yeah, Muffin ran with that, and had a few of her herd members start a small band under the name, to play off the graffitti as viral marketing. Also genius. this is sorta important?

Well, I decided 'Know what, sure, that band you started? They can be performing tonight as one of the openers for Nightwish. Why the fuck not' and it gave them reason to go to the concert hall. Where, yes, I mentioned a me-cameo was... And two more possessed Gangrels. Admiral Ackbar would be so proud of my dickery. However... Things did not go as planned. Because of Terry. The concert hall was thankfully cleared out by the fire alarm being pulled, and everyone getting the fuck out as those Gangrels ran berserk.

Terry is a combat monster, as I mentioned earlier. And the naked dancing from earlier? Gave her a bonus to what's called 'Riding the Wave', allowing her to take the Beast by the reins while Frenzying, and direct it properly. She was struck first, and... promptly turned it into a Frenzy Check. And on her next turn, she was in full on Murder mode... with Gangrel Claws out. By the way? Four Dots of Protean. Unnatural Aspect - Horrid Claws. She can deal Lethal damage outright to vampires.

Did I mention Terry is a Combat Monster and dealt 10 Damage to one of the vampires, instantly putting him in torpor? In one phenomenal dice roll? I say this once again: TERRY IS A COMBAT MONSTER.

The other vampire was knocked out of his possession, and promptly sent to present himself to Giovanni in order to beg for forgiveness. Also, he was Lancea et Sanctum, so there was a wonderful back-and-forth between him and Terry.

But, I know what you're all thinking. 'Wait, the concert hall was empty. I guess they missed the cameo.' Well, no.

Terry: I still have Feral Senses from my Predatory Aspect... I can detect blood like a Blood Potency 4 Vampire. Can I detect any heartbeats here, I need to make sure this place is empty.

Me: You detect one, single solitary heartbeat - hiding in the bar with the shutter drawn down.

Terry: I lift the shutter and peer inside.

Me: There is a terrified young woman inside, curled up, hands over her ears, muttering to herself incoherently about 'not wishing to be found.' She's wearing a black dress, has short, black hair, and... well, basically looks like she dressed properly for a gothic metal concert.

They found me! Yay!

In order to calm her down, Muffin simply bit her neck - didn't take any blood, but the Kiss itself causes the Swooning condtion... and in Muffin's case, the Addicted condition as well. So now, we have the me-cameo swooning and addicted to Muffin Whore (She was then given the nickname Cookie Slut). Seraphine dragged her out of the concert, and she actually -did- feed on her... and then gave her a spiked Soda. Now she's a Ghoul. Seraphine has two Ghouls. What have I got myself into.

The session ended with Velka (one of the scientists for the Ordo Dracul) taking a vitae sample from Seraphine. 'For Science' as she put it.

Things are getting fun in the city of Toronto.

So, no full details this time, I just wish to address how, once again, one of my PCs is an absolute monster in combat. However, part of this was my own failings as a player gamed the system.

Meet the Strix. These are creatures that were added to Vampire: The Requiem in its second edition. These are horrifying disembodied Beasts. Whether they came from a Vampire or not is anyone's guess. All they know is that they are horrifying shadow creatures, and that they give 0 fucks about the Masquerade. What mundane weapons of man can harm smoke after all?

Well, I made one. I made what I -thought- was a fairly powerful early-game one. In fact, here's his stat page:

Code:

Lurker in the Weak. Or, just 'Lurker'

This Owl searches for Revenants at their hungriest - just after they've woken up. They're weak, hungry, and easy to target. While resting in the Revenants body, Lurker simply enjoys wreaking havoc - looking for other Kindred, and pleads for a sip of their vitae. The fact that the revenant isn't launching itself at any nearby human to drain dry -should- be a clue that this revenant is abnormal.

Once inside, Lurker uses Obfuscate, in order to mask its -and- the revenant's aura. Beyond this, it's just a matter of asking the right questions to the right kindred. Due to its preferred prey and how often Kindred might try to manipulate them, Lurker has developed a powrfully resilient mind, immune to th enatural effects of a Kindred's gaze.

Shadow Potency: 3
Health: 3 Agg 2 Lethal
Vitae: 0/12
Skills: Brawl 2, Athletics 2, Occult 2, Subterfuge 3, Stealth 4
Vice: Greed
Attributes: Power 3, Finesse 3, Resistance 3
Willpower: 6
Initiative: 6
Defense: 3/5*
Size: 2
Speed: 12

Aspirations:
-Control the Strongest Kindred
-Uplift a Revenant (Through Diablerie)
-Get inside a private dwelling

Dread Powers:
-Kindred Disciplines (Obfuscate 1, Auspex 2)
-Indomitable
-See The Cracks
-Breath Drinker

Embodiments:
-Shadow Form
-Possess Corpse
-Possess Revenant

Banes:
-Fire
-Sunlight
-Invitation

Notice, however, that health section. This is his current health. After a single encounter with Terry.

See, Lurker had her practically by the balls. Pinned against the wall, draining her vitae and converting it into Shadow Vitae. I probably forgot to throw some damage on her here and there, but still.

And then she Frenzied, and sliced open the Revenant that Lurker was hiding in. Lurker had taken some overlap damage, and was taking this opportunity to eject himself from the host, spending his entire turn to exit... and then this exchanged occured:

Terry: So, I've resolved two conditions, Tempted and Raptured, yes?
Me: Yep! So two Beats are awarded =D
Terry: I've just -also- faced an 'Impassioned Killing' breaking point... can we get that over with here and now?
Me: I don't see why not. -Terry Rolls, gets a success- Alright, take the BEastial Condition as you cling roughly to your humanity.
Terry: Alright. But That was a Beat, yes?
Me: ... Yes? Oh! Yes! Everyone gets 1 EXP cause the Beat Tracker filled!
Terry: Cool. I cash in my EXP -immediately- for Claws of the Unholy and swing at this thing, dealing Aggravated Damage.
Me: ... Uh... kay?
Terry: Agg hurts Strix. It drops to Bashing though.
Me: ... What?
Terry: Yeah... I'm also spending Vitae and Willpower to boost the roll... 8 Successes!
