1: Strix are solitary by nature. Typically, one Strix is -supposed- to be a threat to a Kindred, but I did not account for Terry's player suddenly pulling Agg Damage outta nowhere with the EXP earned. I shoulda seen that coming and said 'No, no, the detachment roll comes after - this Owl is still leaving though, just less damaged' 2: I lack the rules for Weres =p |

What? They didn't include a "Well if you wanna do a crossover antagonist, here's how to fake it" section in the new books? it possessing someone that the PCs either shouldn't or would hesitate just shredding is still an option even if it won't bring friends. |

A possibility, yes. And no, the book -just- concerns the makings of Vampire,s Strix, and also a small subsection on how to make a Ghoul. |

I've decided to resurrect this topic from the dead, in order to share my VtR2E notes properly. That being said, enjoy this written blurb about how the Carthians operate in Chicago, 1982 (I'm running a 1:1 Ghoul Game for a buddy. He thinks his Regnant is an Invictus. Ha) Overall: The Movement in Chicago is weak, since the Prince issued an ongoing Blood Hunt on any Carthian they could find, with status being its own reward. Everytime one goes down, another seems to re-emerge to take their place though. As of late, the safest way to be a part of the Movement... is to pledge to the Invictus. However, it soon becomes obvious who the outliers are when they refuse to take oaths, or avoid the Prince at every opportunity they can. So they meet and hide in secret, mostly using the sewers under Chicago as their labyrinthian support network, scrawling encoded messages here and there Carthian Status is required to understand these messages. They employ an above average number of ghouls in their wake in order to try and suss out information on the other Covenants, while they stay hidden away in their havens, or underground. The Revolution is coming. --- While writing his Regnant's Merits down, a weird notion came to mind. Without even really thinking on what it meant at the time, I simply wrote 'Allies (Carthian Molotovs) '. And then I had to ask/answer the question: 'Who or what are the Carthian Molotovs? The Molotovs are an abrasive splinter group of the Carthian Movement. They are more or less the out there, in-your-face, molotov-in-hand 'rebels' out to destroy the Invictus' plans in as much of a disruptive way as possible. The reason for their existence and operational style is a strange one. They act out as loud as possible, in order to draw attention from the Invictus. The Molotovs operate under the notion of a sleight of hand gambit while they're on an operation, another group of Carthians will be advancing on a different plan taking back territory, compromising the havens of Invictus members, capturing ghouls, etc. The Molotovs though are exactly the stereotype that the Invictus views the Firebrands as performing raids on publicly known Invictus establishments, decrying how vampires should behave, and even one instance of a molotov cocktail tossed into the Prince's Elysium (Itt was this incident that earned them their nickname of Molotovs) Despite the obvious sleight of hand going on, the Invictus want to see the Molotovs taken down and like clockwork, they will go after them whenever an opportunity presents itself. Four Members: Cockatrice (Nosferatu), Cockatiel (Daeva), Cockroach (Mekhet), and of course, Cocktail(Gangrel). Often shortened though to Trice, Tiel, Roach and Tail. --- And the last thing from my notes for Chicago Typewriter - a cat raised with Animalism for my player's Regnant. Midnight: Midnight is a Russian Blue, with a milky white left eye, and a tail broken in two places. The cause of Midnight's death was a fight with another cat, which led to an unfortunate gash on his chest, which leaves enough ribs exposed to show a non-beating heart. Still loves attention though, thankfully he's past the point where he drips on everything. Good kitty :D |

It's taken a bit, but I'm finally getting my shit together to start running my VtR game. Our setting? Tokyo, after Inoue Akio, a lowly ghoul, has seized enough contorl to use th eMasquerade as his own personal bargaining chip. How he maintains his ghouldom, and what his menacing 'five year plan' is, is a mystery. The characters thusfar! An unnamed Mangaka Mekhet, who tirelessly works to make sure his deadlines are met (Coil of the Ascendant is a hell of a thing) Lisette Lestrange, a Nos who is seeking to legit become a legendary monster in Tokyo. ... Seriously, one of her aspirations is 'What does Diablerie taste like...' Don't worry, I have plans for her. She's gonna get a huge heaping of hubris. Wakahisa Orochi, a Ventrue who was embraced back in the early 1900s. However, after making a small fortune and making a -lot- of enemies, he went underground (almost literally) only to wake up over a hundred years later, his fortune gone, and only a single ghoul still 'loyal' to him. And lastly... Koizumi Chiyoko, or 'Dottie', a Daeva who is big on the Decora Kei style of fashion, hoping to one day become a major icon or idol in that fashion scene. What's Decora Kei I hear you ask? Literally the most Daeva thing ever -sets brain bleach nearby- |

Gods I love this excercise A little explanation: In the back of the Vampire: The Requiem Second Edition book, is a section called 'Climbing the Ladder' - an exercise wherein you all sit around a table and talk about things in your character's past. Each of these steps involves two things. 1: Putting a named NPC on the board 2: Connecting that NPC to someone else. What this results in, is a complicated mess of names, connections, etc. that the GM can, at any point essentially, look to and be like 'well there's a story thread to pursue' Granted, the questions are preachy, but with my players, I simply at one point said 'y'know what, fuck it - these questions are starting to suck, so, I'll just let you put NPCs on the board, -or- connect two NPCs in a way that you think makes sense. It was great. Now I have a whole fuckload of names I can mess around with. |

I wrote my Intro: Tokyo. A vibrant city of neon lights, modern day skyscrapers and old-fashioned shrines. A mix of ancient traditions meeting the needs of the modern man. From the lively streets of Akihabara, to the relatively calm ports of the Minato ward, one can find just about anything and everything that they need or want in this vibrant city. At least, that's how it looks on the surface, to any normal person. Beneath the veil, creatures of folklore and fiction walk among men and women. Vampires. Werewolves. Changelings, Angels, Demons. They wear a veil of humanity to blend in though. One man, however, stands on the border of both worlds. A man who knows of this veil, and uses this knowledge to keep the monsters at bay. The man's name is Inoue Akio. He is the head of the Hototgisu corporation, a company with its fingers spread all throughout the world. Car Manufacturers, Food supplies, Fashion, Electronics... If it passes through Japan, it passes under the Cuckoo's Watchful Eye. Tensions on the streets among the varying Kindred Zaibatsu grow higher with each passing night. Akio's Five Year plan is nearing its fruition, much to the dismay of those running the Zaibatsu. The plan's details have been kept a closely guarded secret, to the point that the details of this plan are still an unknown factor... Until tonight. Our Chronicle begins on a dark and stormy night. September 4th, 2015. It's just after sunset. Wakahisa Orochi, your personal evening rituals are interrupted by a knock at your bedroom door... |

First session done! Here are the cliff notes of what I wrote for the page itself for players to read: At the start of the night, Wakahisa Orochi was greeted by his faithful ghoul Nina mentioning that a Hototogisu member appeared to be fleeing the city. Orochi then decided the smart thing to do was to call up the rest of the Coterie to investigate. Lisette Lestrange cornered some poor guy in the subway and horribly murdered him for blood. Dio visited Ikki Shirato to pester him about getting out and doing stuff akin to his nature. He was interrupted by Orochi's phonecall. Dottie got onto the subway in order to find blood, found Orochi. Everyone met up on the subway! The group spotted Kawaguchi Ken at the train station, but he got spooked by Lisette and bolted. Orochi managed to get a hold of a Nosferatu contact, and confirmed that Ken was on his way to Asaka Station Orochi confronted Ken and managed to Dominate him... Ken revealed the nature of Inoue Akio's plan - Project Magatsuhi: A global Kindred extermination plan. The only clue that is immediately known is that they plan to contaminate the blood supply. The method and execution of just how this works though is an unknown factor. The Coterie returned to Shirato's home in order to work on his Manga. Mikurin Sakura, an assistant to Shirato recognized Lisette, and wanted to catch up on old times... Lisette let it slip that things had gotten 'fixed' and Orochi had to fix it. Also, Dottie entered a blood bond with Lisette because of hunger issues. Hooray! |

Session 2: Land of Rising Tensions Dottie awoke to go and have a word with her surrogate Sire Chiyoko Koizumi. From here, she explained the nature of what she gleamed from Orochi's recounting of Project Magatsuhi. Her loyal ghouls Satoshi and Soldan kept notes of the things she said. Dottie also brought up that she entered into a Blood Bond with Lisette Lestrange, much to Chiyoko's displeasure. She also, later on, ran into a Mr. Akumu on her rounds of the Harujuku neighbourhood, who was apparently rubbing vitae on the underside of the Hachiko Statue Lisette made her way to her old haunt of the Cirque du Lun, spotting her old friend/touchstone Koizumi Yuuka. Upon watching her practise, she spotted Kiki, and followed her back to where Dio resided. The two nearly went to blows, before Kiki intervened, de-escalating the situation. Shirato made his way to a book store in order to find some books with some art. He ran into an excitable fan, named Masao, who apparently knows Orochi. Which is always good. Orochi set to trying to hunt down a member of the Hototogisu to try and uncover more information on Project Magatsuhi. Of note, he did this under the cover of a high school student. This is important. This led him to Akira Morimoto. He learned that the Hototogisu is, in fact, planning to 'change the world' - But seems somewhat guarded about other things. He did mention though that his Daughter, an aspiring idol performer, is currently working with a not-so-savoury Manager. Also, he wants Orochi to help him find the man who wronged him... Which was Orochi. Aren't things lovely?~ |
