I'm aware rape and incest only accounts for 1% of all abortions, but do you think exceptions should be made for those cases? Regardless of the percentage of abortions caused by rape, do you think the abortion should be allowed? |

I wouldn't make exceptions for rape and incest. If the mother is feeling too traumatic to take the responsibility of the baby, she could put the baby up for adoption or send the baby to an orphanage. As you said, perhaps there are some cases when that's not possible. The scoop is: I am against all abortion unless it's because of severe economic conditions. |

How does one oppose abortion and oppose health care for children? Welfare for child care and funding education. Is the birth of white children the only concern no wailing or chants praying for the care of born black or hispanic or disabled? Just keep those little white babies popping out, unwanted and doomed to living one miserable life in drug houses foster homes and jails. Or possibly shooting 30 1st graders because they were unwanted children forced upon the mother by religious not constitutional requirements. |

I didn't consider what socioeconomic factors would mean at the time I submitted the answer. |

The problem with all these answers about carrying the baby to term and putting it up for adoption is you are enslaving the mother to the needs, wants, and dangers of carrying around an unwanted piece of fetal goo for 9 months. It is an enslavement she does not wish, but is being forced on her by fiat. Why are there no concerns about the adult's rights? What punishment should be meted out if the woman flies to Ireland and has the abortion performed in a legally and medically safe haven? |

While it sounds a bit like a standard libertarian answer (and I am none), I do not trust the government enough to give them sufficient power to do that. |

We've already seen how well that works when post-birth abortions were performed on children and adults deemed useless to the Nazis and were slain in their beds. |

It wasn’t their choice to begin with, for the rape thing. They shouldn’t pay the price. |

She wouldn't need to raise the child and definitely not live with the rapist. She could have someone adopt the child instead, or send the child to an orphanage. By giving birth to the child, the rape victim is reversing an evil action by producing a good thing. The rape victim certainly needs care and comfort. At the same time, if a child is conceived in a pregnancy caused by rape, then this child is just as innocent as the woman who was victimized and he or she should not be killed because of the actions of the rapist. |

For the first nine months, she does.
In what aspects? You remind me of this dude. https://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/she-the-people/wp/2012/10/24/indiana-gop-senate-hopeful-richard-mourdock-says-god-intended-rape-pregnancies/?utm_term=.d0f557949065
Not a child until it leaves the womb. And why shouldn't it be killed? It has little to no consciousness during the first weeks, and a huge burden to the victim. |

1. I should've specified, once the baby is out of the womb. 2. In all the aspects of how a child is a good thing. Genetic and economic legacy, for instance. I'm no Bible-thumper BTW. 3. I suppose using the word "child" might be confusing there. I'll stick with "baby" or "embryo". Anyway, you could make the same argument of "why shouldn't it be killed" for literally any embryo that develops into an adult. Simply because something's a burden doesn't always mean it's something to destroy. |
