Do you think politicians should be transparent about their private lives and what they do? I don't think so, but others have told me politicians are "public servants" that should be as transparent as possible. Everything they do and say, regardless of whether or not it was done in public or not, should be held accountable. Should we judge a politician by what he/she says or does in his private life, or leave him be? As long as what he/she does in his/her private life isn't illegal, why should it matter? |

No we shouldn't but what constitutes private life is sketchy, is something put on twitter apart of their private life? |

No. When you are putting something on Twitter, you are allowing the whole world to see it. |

I don't care about it, as long as it's consistent with the policies they're implementing. For example, if a far-right reactionary gets into power, and fights to make homosexuality illegal again - but then, it turns out that they're in a same-sex relationship in their private life - then that is very much relevant, and they absolutely should be judged for their hypocrisy should it ever come to light. But, if it turned out that Theresa May prances around her house dressed as a giant bunny rabbit - sure, it'd be very goofy, but it wouldn't affect my view of her as a politician (which is pretty negative anyway, but it's negative for reasons unrelated to her private life ).

How transparent should they be? Should they reveal everything, and if not, and someone finds out, should the public have the right to know? |

I don't think they necessarily need to be transparent about it. It is their personal life, after all. It's certainly wrong to make something like that public - but, once it's been made public, it's not really relevant whether or not the public has the right to know, because it's virtually impossible to stop the information from spreading anyway. Typically, attempting to suppress it will just lead to a Streisand Effect - where it spreads even faster and further than it otherwise would have done. |
