Weaponry

Ilmenahte: Rakesh carries, as his primary weapon, his polearm. Crafted himself, Rakesh has come to trust and love his weapon with a personification of a name: Ilmenahte, meaning night spear. He has carried the weapon since creation from age 18. This weapon was his first successful creation, after taking up training in the forges in his home city in north Rhûn. After 5 years of learning about making weapons, he had perfected this marveled weapon. His smithy director was pleased to see his student create such a fine polearm. The weapon stands above the valiant man and he was always proud of his creation. Ilmenahte's blade is made of steel and pole of iron. Rakesh always loved the mix of the two as a balance of metals. The weapon is mainly for first attacks and anti-cavalry uses or when behind the front line by a couple yards. The weapon is an effective long-range melee weapon, but is not very fast for attacks and takes time and precision for each strike.

Atop the tall weapon is wrapped up, a long, streaming banner (when unfurled) of Rhûn bearing the Snake of the Easterlings. He often opened it up when switching blades, when given any more than 5 seconds of time to leap up and loose the thread which thence, unravels the proud banner. Signaling to his troops that he's gone into scimitar mode.

Angaloomin: His secondary weapon is his champion blade, made 2 years after Ilmenahte. After many months of toil, testing, and practice, Rakesh made a beautiful sword made from pure steel and iron handle. This sword was given the name: Angaloomin, meaning iron shadow. This blade outdid his make of his halberd, in his opinion and was always trustworthy, when Ilmenahte was ineffective, at times. Angaloomin deflected many attacks, due to it's light and agile design. The scimitar was made for fast, easy, and swift movements. Where Ilmenahte lacks in speed, Angaloomin makes up with deadly and artful agility.

When damage or tarnish came to either weapon, Rakesh would repair it himself, often adding new improvements over time and making them more effective in battle.

Armor:

The Dark Wind wears standard Easterling armor, consisting of a gold scale plate mail (covering all limbs and forelimbs, shoulders, chest, back, and hip area), winged helm, gauntlets/gloves, and matching boots. The design is of scale is an upward aim which is different from most regular scaled plating. Included with the armor is a dark red cloth covering small remaining areas. The mail is thin and light, as is the cloth, which allows full mobility and speed to his movement.

The armor covers all but his eyes. He never removes his armor outside of his living community, barracks, or other places of residence. He prefers the anonymity of none knowing his features, if he wishes it so.

The armor often requires repairs, but never replacement. Rakesh has never taken a serious wound, due to his skill in evasion and deceptiveness of his movements, to enemies.

Also, Rakesh often wields a matching shield which helps with his polearm charges and strikes, which also gives him time to swap weapons, as he stabs the rear of Ilmenahte into the ground and unleashes Angaloomin to tear apart the enemy where they stand. The shield often required replacement for it usually takes damage beyond repair.

Steed: Rakesh possesses no horse. He dislikes the restrictiveness to his own movements.

Powers: No special powers of recognition.

Description

Physical Description: Rakesh stands at 6' even. Towering above his fellow soldiers, he is very cold and demanding. He weighs 182 lbs. without armor. Purely muscle and built tough and strong. With his above average muscles, for men, he's extremely agile and moves like the wind, soldiers have said. His eyes are crimson and glimmer as the Eye of Sauron does. His parents and acquaintances always spoke of him having a special destiny serving the Dark Lord. His hair is pitch black and flows elegantly in the wind. As for his skin colour, it's a light tan, for he kept in the darkness, during the day, and lived and did his duties during the night, for he loathed the sun's face and rarely saw it, until he came to his soldier training.

The Lieutenant wears mostly black, as a rule, and most of them are less than baggy. They grip tight to his form, but not uncomfortably. Having multiple suits from dark red, blue, and black.

Personality: Rakesh is a withdrawn and silent fellow, normally. This trait is uncommon in Easterlings, as they've usually had to fight and be loud to get what they want. The Lieutenant is laid back and calm, most of the time, unless outside of living and residences and barracks. He's hesitant of those he doesn't know and lacks compassion for others. A brutal warrior, but loving kinsman. He loves his people and will die to preserve them, in all aspects. Holding deep respect for his elders and forefathers, such as his hero is Ulfang the Black, for he departed the obnoxious and self-righteous Elves and put them in their place.

When in more military places, Rakesh is proud, tall, and a standard of hope and chilling man, amongst his folk. His personality is more active, prepared, and wrathful. Rakesh leads with pride and skill. There is little his men would not do for him, when asked. There is little he would not do for his men, when asked. An orderly and fair formation he runs, and it had never failed him.

The Lord of Night prefers melee combat to any other form and has not attempted study of any other. His artful procedures in a battle surpass any of the Darkness in the East and he feels no need to understand ranged fighting or horseback battle. He feels it's futile for him to not be on the front, guiding his people along. He acknowledges the need for horsemen and archers, but needs not understand it. For his own good.

Other than his lack of empathy for enemies and love and patriotism of his people, Rakesh feels little else and longs for the sound of battle. Once in a fray, depending on the folk he fights, he always has a battle plan prepared. Learned of old strategies from Ages past, he has studied war and battle formations and has learned from his formers' mistakes. There are many critiques of Dark strategies that he holds in his writings and how he could have effectively brought victory to the past forces of Darkness.

From his experience and his cold appearance and personality, on his cover, Rakesh is usually respected by others as a reasonable, fair, and intelligent officer, which brought him up the ranks over his term from age 14 in military training. Being a very commanding and powerful authority in his business, he always strives for order and perfection in Sauron's name, and keeps morale high, and fear low, other than that of him, if necessary. A flaw, he's disliked of his former leaders, is that they always ruled by fear, while he preferred to rule by respect and inspiration. He's noticed it has far better results in his soldiers and brings about results he wants.

Rakesh feels great hatred for Elves and Dwarves due to their inherent differences. The reasons behind his hate for Dwarves is their greed, cowardice, and exclusiveness to all others. As for Elves, they have impressed upon him that they are self-righteous, pompous, and incredibly brutal to his people and unwilling to forgive. When fighting them, he takes great pleasure from slaying them, in past skirmishes and battles. But for Men of Gondor and Rohan (Rohirrim, which he has little experience with), he feels sorry that they would not join Mordor and the Darkness when they had the chance to join willingly under Lord Sauron's orderly rule.

The main reasons for Rakesh's loyalty to Sauron is derived from Sauron's wish for order and a just and fair society. A society that would lack Elven and Dwarven population, which most pleased the Lord of Night. Sauron is represented to him as a fair ruler who wishes for darkness and shadow to play the main role in a new world of eternal night, which quite appeals to Rakesh. He has pledged his life to Sauron and wishes to be lucky enough to make an appearance and have audience with the Dark Lord, himself.

Rakesh is often known for night attacks, in his strategies, due to his keen sense of sight, smell, and hearing. He is an able tracker of enemies from small to large forces, even singular persons. His attacks and ambushes usually consist of a divided force, one of his command which takes the front flanks and a smaller force to rout enemy movements and counter any attempt to flee or retreat. His title Lord of Night came from his love for darkness and skill in the night, as much as in day, if not more.

The Lord of Night loathes the Sun and believes it to be a curse upon his people; to spend eternity under the burning face of the White Light. He would be sure to bring darkness, and with Sauron's help, in that matter. As he is not weakened in day, he's not at his best. Men under his command usually attune to his preferences of night battles, living, and routine. They share his feelings, for the most part, and admire his will and strength in mind.

Other skills possessed by Morisul is his heightened senses in vision, hearing, and smelling. He inherited them from his father, as his mother quoted him being able to smell fall coming from months away, and hearing Ishila's (Rakesh's mother) singing voice from across the country. Smelling the scarcely found flowers in her hair, and other such legends of his enhanced senses.

The skill in being a forefront pikeman, is a skill of Rakesh's. He makes his weapon last a long time in battle, and making Ilmenahte useful until the enemy comes in such close-quarters that he can't help but unsheath his metallic wonder; Angaloomin. His artful swirling and swift and agile movements with the blade could only be described as extraordinary, for he could slay up to three men with the same slashing movement as he slid under a rank of men and tore through the lines and cut down all who stood in his path.

History: The childhood of Rakesh was one of middle-class origin, in North Rhûn in a small "city" near the Carnen river and a couple hundred miles away from Dorwinion, with little to do but wait for trades and become a soldier, when collected. He was born to a pair of loving parent named Ishila and Romokha. His father died while at war, days after he was born, but as he grew, Rakesh aspired to become a soldier as his father did. His mother raised him alone and worked as a barber and waitress in an inn named The Laughing Wolf.

When reaching age 5, Rakesh began his basic education in language and reading. He wasn't required to learn math, for Easterlings knew very little to naught of "math". Rakesh understood Quenya, Sindarin, Black Speech, and Westron (common speech); all by age 13. Being very intelligent and set to learn, he swiftly learned the talk of Elves, Darkness, and Commoners. He was ready to meet any speech challenge he may be faced with. For his mother wanted him to have knowledge of other ways to speak, so he could know and be known.

At age 13, he began learning of making weapons in the city forge, but lacked for his first year and often fell behind in his training, until age 14, where he was legally old enough to join the Forces of Rhûn, and take up training along the southern side of Carnen. He did so and ended his learning of forging for 2 years, to allow for soldiery training in the basics, and became a class A student in the arts of war and waging it. His instructors found him and 2 others to be very well on their way to being officers, in the future.

When concluding his 2 years of military training, Rakesh returned to his home town and continued his forgery training. This time, he was better skilled with weapons and understood form and structure of them from his 2 years in the Forces. He was allowed one year off of military training at age 15 and back on another and back off a third, then at age 18/19 he would begin full-time as a soldier in the Forces of Rhûn. He continued on and off training and at age 18 he created his first 2 successful weapon creations: Ilmenahte and Angaloomin.

After he came on full-time as a soldier, his commanding officers noted his connection with his weapons. They gave him 3 promotions over the span of 5 years, post-full-time commitment by 2 years (at age 20). After taking a large part in battles of numerous count and gaining many decorations such as The Fang of the Snake, Royal Standard Bearer, and The Eye of the Snake. When reaching Lieutenant at age 30, he was presented with a red, eye-shaped gem set in his armor plate in the middle-front signifying blessing from Mordor and the Eye. From this, Rakesh felt all his toil and struggle had paid off, with recognition from Sauron, the Dark Lord.

Rakesh is very proud of his accomplishments and attempts to outdo his past victories with fresh and more creative and efficient ways of bringing hope and night to his people. No longer shall they have to feel the evil burn of the Sun's visage upon their fair faces.

His mother still lives in the small, nameless city in North Rhûn and is ever proud of her outstanding son.

Since his promotion, the young Lieutenant still leads and plans attacks along the East Anduin and hopes to present a big challenge to Lorien, Mirkwood, and Cair Andros, within time...

Additional Information

Introduction: After a long march to the end of Rhûn, Rakesh noticed movement ahead, in a dark green blur, amid the desert end... He focused his mind and scent locations and felt the presence of: Mirkwood Guardians. The small scouting band he led was not prepared fully to fight such a worthy foe, he deemed.

Morisul turned to his troops, raised Ilmenahte and his shield, and gave them a short, true, and hopeful speech.
"Proud men of the vast kingdom of Rhûn, we must now face a foe on the edge of their domain. You cannot fear them, for you fight for a higher cause than they! You fight for Sauron, for Rhûn, for me! Now let's fall in ranks and show those forest mongers what Easterlings can accomplish, eh?"

His men raised their heads with pride and grinned, which he saw through their golden helms. They raised weapons and shouted:
"For Sauron, for Rhûn, for Rakesh!"
And with that, they all charged, shields and pikes forward. Archers behind drawing arrows.

One-hundred yards later, the force came upon the unsuspecting Mirkwood Elves and they became aware of the Easterlings, turned, aimed their drawn fine arrows, and not 5 seconds later they released and the shafts soared through the air and moments later struck down upon the 5th to 7th ranks in the band. Many yells and screams tore shrill through the air. Rakesh mourned and yelled as he continued the charge.

They came right down upon the small band of Elves. Ilmenahte tore through the foremost Elf, standing 7' away from Rakesh, slaying the point-eared Elf the instant the proud polearm struck and tore into him. The point then withdrew and stabbed again, at another Elf, killing with a blow to the head. The Lord of Night then removed the blade and brought up and then down upon another Elven head.

The instant the head of the polearm broke upon the next head of the Elf folk, 2 Elves charge toward Rakesh and struck against his out thrust shield and he was forced back into the sideways ranks of his troops.

Backing into the 2nd rank of his 10 ranked forces, he stabbed the butt of Ilmenahte into the ground on his right, leaped up and unlocked the thread and unfurled the standard of Rhûn, the banners height reached the eyes of all his 200 men, and many of them shouted with gladness, "So comes Angaloomin!".

The Lieutenant withdrew his curved scimitar and brandished it before the fearful and knowing eyes of nearby Elves, some shouted and exclaimed, "The Lord of Night/Morisul is upon us! Fall back!"

Rakesh leaped into the middle of the front line and slashed and cut his way through to the Captain of the outfit. Many screamed in terror as they saw him coming into the crowd and bringing his men into it in his wake. He located the bright-eyed captain and they made eye contact and they both knew that they were to meet.

As the Elves were being pushed back, the two leaders made melee contact and they deflected and fought, slashed and sliced, ducked and diced at one another until a final and fatality-inducing blow came to the upper left leg of the Elf Captain and he yelped as he fell, helplessly, to the ground, where the Lieutenant peered at Angaloomin and then struck swift and true into the face of the Elf.

The rest of the remaining Elves scattered and fled to their precious forest. The Easterlings cheered and raised their voices in joyful victory. The day was theirs and they planned to keep it that way. The casualties for the Easterlings was not as much as the Elves, but they required reinforcements. Rakesh sent his messenger scout for fresh troops to add into his grand force.

Morisul fell back to his halberd and withdrew it from the blood-stained earth below him.
He looked up to the sky and deemed night was to come soon. His men needed rest, so he decided to make camp a couple miles away, near an oasis shelter.
