About You Name: DC Contact Info: imperiousnamor@hotmail.com (MSN)/CrawlingNamor (AIM) Characters on WotR: None How Did You Find Us?: Advertisement in NeXus. General Information: Name: Er-Murazor Alias: The Witch-king of Angmar is the alias he goes by. However, he is known by many other names and titles, including but not limited to Black Captain, Lord of the Nazgûl, Lord of Minas Morgul, Lord of the Nine Riders, Wraith-king, Captain of Despair, First of the Nazgûl, High Nazgûl, Lord of the Úlairi (Quenya for Ringwraiths) and Chieftain of the Ringwraiths. Gender: Male Homeland: Númenor Age: Nearly 4500 years. In the Service of: Mordor. Second-in-command to Sauron, the Dark Lord. Weaponry Weapons: The Witch-king still carries the royal sword he possessed when he was one of the great Kings of Men. It is an impressive weapon, forged by the best blacksmiths Númenor had to offer. Even though the sword is several millenia old, it is still effective, for it was created with such skill and maintained with such care that it has retained it properties to this day and it is still as sharp as it was on the day of its creation. It is roughly sixty inches long, and Witch-king's great strength and skill enables him to wield it with either one or two hands. An illustration of poisonous wines, similar to Sauron’s mace, has been engraved on its hilt. It has been strengthened over the years by the black magics of Mordor and the Witch-king itself, so it also has many dark properties on it that enables Witch-king to combat beings of great power with it, and it's strike is far deadlier then the strike of any ordinary sword. When the Witch-king goes to war, he carries a great war mace with him. It has been forged by the smiths of Mordor and thus it carries the same horrible dark magic properties that his sword does. With it, the Witch-king can strike with enough power to shatter shields with ease and break the bones of ordinary men with a single strike from it. It is a heavy weapon and not many people can wield it with the same skill as the Witch-king can. More often then not, Witch-king also carries a knife with him, created in Minas Morgul. When he strikes someone with one of these knives, it breaks and shards of it are embedded inside the victim's body, and the poison within the knive will usually kill them very fast. Armor: Even though the Witch-king doesn't usually need protection from physical threats, he nonetheless wears an armor. Like his sword, the armor is made from the finest steel, forged in the fires of Mordor. After thousands of years of service, the armor is understandably rusted and weary, but it still serves its purpose. Although you would have hard time seeing it under the cloaks that Witch-king is always draped in, the armor is a full set, from the breastplate to the heavy gauntlets. Perhaps the most striking feature of the armor is the spikes that appear everywhere in it, in fact the armor is almost a weapon itself as the spikes are more then simple ornaments, they can be used to wound enemies on close combat. The Witch-king also has a distinctive white-colored helmet that he wears in battle. It has spikes around it, and one long in the front, forming a crown of sorts. Like the rest of his armor, it provides an excellent protection...and is sure to strike fear in the hearts of his enemies. Steed: Although the Witch-king has access to horses, Sauron has equipped him with much more useful steed. Like his Nazgúl comrades, he now rides one of the few Fell Beasts in existence. They are terrifying creatures, a cross between a bat and a lizard, larger then any bird that has ever existed and equipped with claws on their strong feet and poisonous spikes all over their scaled body. They eat any meat that is given to them, whether it is alive or an corpse, and their claws enable them to take down almost anything with swift speed. Their ability to fly while carrying a rider makes them perhaps the fastest ways of movement in all Middle-Earth. The large Fell Beast of the Witch-king wears a spiky helmet that protects its face, since it is expected to get close to the enemy at some point. The Witch-king seems to have an instinctive rapport with his steed, and it knows what he wants it to do, even when he doesn't necessarily say it out loud. Powers: The Witch-king is by far the mightiest of Nazgúl, and a sorcerer of great power. Although he is not at the level of Istari or any other Maia when it comes to pure raw power, he is still capable enough to rival some of them in battle (the stronger ones, such as Sauron, would of course crush him). With thousands of years of experience in the dark arts, there are very few people who can challenge him when it comes into manipulating them, and even less of them who are beyond him in the knowledge of them (Sauron might be the only one). These impressive powers enable him to perform amazing feats, ranging from effecting the physical world (such as shattering the staff of Gandalf the White from afar), or manipulating the thoughts and hearts of his enemies (such as the corrupting influence he held over Angmar in the past). The Witch-king, as a Nazgúl, also possesses the same powers as the others of his brethren. He is capable of releasing a distinctive screech that causes fear and panic in those that oppose him. Like the other Nazgúl, he seems to possess an aura of terror that intimidates all but the bravest warriors in his presence, and the Black Breath of the Nazgúl is poisonous to mortals and can even kill them. He also has acute sense of smell, something that he shares with the other Nazgúl. The Witch-king once wielded the greatest of the Nine Rings that were given to men, and like the others, the ring rendered him invisible to the naked eye, and thus only his clothes and equipment can be seen. This connection to the wraith world also enables him to see things that are invisible to mortal men, such as spirits and other mystical creatures. The ring gave him an unbreakable rapport with his lord and master, Sauron, and he can instantly know his commands. It also mades him immortal and ageless and greatly increases his dark powers and might, although it is also the reason he was enslaved under the control of Sauron. The ring's existence, and the existence of the Witch-king is directly tied to the existence of the One Ring, and the Witch-king would surely perish, should it be destroyed. The ring lies in Barad-dûr, like all of the Nine Rings. Although the Witch-king is almost impossible to destroy for good (it has been prophesied that no living man can destroy him), he can certainly be wounded by physical weapons, and he shares the same weakness to fire as the other Nazgúl. Description Physical Description:The Witch-king came from a long line of rulers and thus was an impressive figure even as a normal human. As a royal of one of the kingdoms of Númenoreans, he possessed their features, and his were even more distinctive because of his heritage. Standing tall and proud despite his great age, he had a long silver hair and beard, and deep blue eyes. His face was calm and wise, and you could see that he had seen a lot during his long life. That man, however, is long gone. The Witch-king is now an imposing figure, turned into something entirely different by the terrible influence of Sauron. He still stands as tall as the man he once was, but he is only a pale shadow of what he used to be, a ghastly figure who still wears his royal crown in the cursed emptiness he has been sent to. Gaunt, pale and thin, the only proof of his Númenorean heritage is the remains of the features of his face. However, the power of his ring has shielded those features from normal eyes. Only those who wear one of the Rings of Power can see his true and terrible form, such as Frodo when he faced him on Weathertop. Others only see the ancient robes and armor he wears. He talks with deep, inhuman voice that intimidates people as much as his physical features. He possessed the first of the Nine Rings given to men - different from the other eight. It is the only one which is made of gold and silver, and the stone in it is amber. The stone glows with terrible power, and over the years it resembles the Eye of Sauron more and more. But, despite his need for it, Sauron took it from him once the transformation into a wraith was complete, and it remains in Barad-dûr to this day. Avatar: Lawrence Makoare Personality: The Witch-king is perhaps the most terrible of the servants of Sauron, and one of the most purely evil beings to ever exist on Middle-earth. What once was a honorable, although greedy king of men has been turned into a creature of cruelty and despair by the machinations of the Dark Lord. There is no human left in the Witch-king, aside from every evil quality a human can possess. There is no compassion, no love, no shred of any sort of kindness in him. The Witch-king is responsible for countless deaths, guilty or innocent, and feels nothing. Simply put, he is no longer a human being. He is now in a constant control of Sauron, ready to carry any order he makes. It is his relationship with Sauron that makes Witch-king what he is now - the unbreakable bond between him and the Dark Lord, created by the ring he put on so long ago and strengthened for thousands of years. Nothing will break the unquestionable loyalty that Witch-king has for Sauron. He is simply not going to betray him for anything. There is no threat that he would not face if Sauron ordered him to and no price that would make him betray him. He is tied to Sauron, forever. And because of his changed state of mind, he has long ago stopped resenting the fact. He is a slave to Sauron, there is no better word to describe him. But although he is a slave, he is not a mindless one. The Witch-king still retains his intelligence, his knowledge of the world, combat and magic that he has gathered over the several millenia he has lived. He can still discuss (although he does not talk much) with the grace and confidence of a king, and make his own decisions about some things (unless Sauron orders him to do otherwise). After all, the Witch-king was a very capable ruler of two different kingdoms, his first one in Númenor and the evil, now ancient realm of Angmar he founded in the Misty Mountains. Angmar was successful enough to combat Arnor, which speaks a lot about the Witch-king's skills of strategy. Sauron did not give him the command of his army for nothing. The success of the Witch-king is restricted by his arrogance, a trait that he had even when he was a human. The Witch-king's belief in himself has grown to be immense over the thousands of years of his existence, and further bolstered by the words of his master, Sauron. He simply overestimates his own power and underestimates the power of others - such as when he faced Aragorn in Weathertop or was driven away from Rivendell by Elrond. There are beings more skilled and powerful in this world then him, but aside from Sauron, the Witch-king tends not to acknowledge them - until it is too late. There are few things that Witch-king fears, one of them is naturally Sauron, and another is fire (and to lesser extent, the Sun and light). Likewise, he is as susceptible to the magics of benevolent beings as they are to his dark magic. History: The Witch-king has a long past, perhaps so long that he can't remember it all himself. Thousands of years ago, the Lord of the Nazgúl was once one of the greatest lords of the ancient Númenor, the realm of men in the Second Age. He lived to an old age, and somewhere to his later days he and eight others were approached by Sauron, and were given the Nine Rings of Power. They were Men, and they were greedy and could not resist the temptation. At first, their expectations were met. The rings gave them glory, wealth and influence beyond their dreams, and they became great kings and sorcerers. The rings prolonged their lives and made them invisible. However, all this did not come without a price. The Men bearing the rings eventually fell under the influence of Sauron, like he had planned all along. Although they retained their powers and might, they were now shadows of their former greatness, and slaves to Sauron, incapable of resisting his will and commands. The weakest of them were enslaved fastest, but sooner or later, they all were under his control. They were now cursed to exist in the wraith-world, only being visible through the clothes they wore. They became Nazgúl, the Ringwraiths, and soon rose to be the most important servants of Sauron. The Witch-king became the most important Nazgúl, and their leader. When Sauron was defeated in the War of the Last Alliance, he momentarily disappeared in the shadows, and the Nazgúl vanished alongside him. The Dark Lord however resurfaced secretly in the Third Age, thousands of years later, and established a stronghold on the edge of Mirkwood at Dol Guldur. The Nazgúl reappeared alongside him. The Witch-king, most likely under the specific orders of Sauron, founded the dark realm of Angmar, and it was here where he received his most known moniker. The Witch-king was the false identity he used when ruling over Angmar. He gathered a massive force of Orcs, evil men and other terrifying creatures and established an impressive army. The Witch-king's goal was to destroy the realm of Arnor - a kingdom of men that had separated from Gondor a long time ago. The Dunedain ruled over Arnor, and they became bitter enemies of Angmar over the centuries that the realm waged war against them. Angmar was quite successful in the long war - it was able to destroy two of the three kingdoms Arnor consisted of, Cardolan and Rhudaur. Arthedain, the last kingdom was almost ravaged completely, but forces from Gondor and the Elves were able to defeat Angmar's forces in the Battle of Fornost. When Witch-king fled to Mordor, Angmar was finally destroyed for good. But the Witch-king did not care, for he had new orders from his master. The Witch-king was told to gather the eight other Nazgúl, and wait for Sauron's return. The Nazgúl besieged Minas Ithil, Tower of the Moon, a great watchtower of Gondor, and it took them only two years to conquer it completely. The name of the tower was changed to Minas Morgul, the Tower of Black Sorcery. The Witch-king became its lord, and it would become the main stronghold of the Nazgúl. It was transformed from once beautiful tower to a place of dread, shining with sickly light. Nine centuries later, Sauron was finally strong enough to declare himself openly and start his quest for ultimate power. The Witch-king would remain in Minas Morgul, to spearhead an attack to Osgiliath, another Gondor stronghold. The attack would also serve as a feint for Nazgúl, for them to secretly cross the Anduin River. The Nazgúl would then spend months looking for the One Ring, the weapon that Sauron needed to conquer Middle-earth once and for all. They finally caught a lead of its location, and five of the Nazgúl traveled to Shire, to catch a certain hobbit that had the ring in his possession. The Nazgúl, after a chase, finally caught up with Frodo and his group at Weathertop, and even though the Witch-king was able to wound Frodo with his Morgul-blade, Aragorn, who had joined Frodo's group earlier in Shire, was able to drive away the five Nazgúl. They were then driven off by the Elves of Rivendell, and failed to capture the One Ring. With their failure, the Nazgúl retreated back to Minas Morgul. Mordor was mobilizing its forces to fight the Free People of Middle-earth, and the commander of Sauron's numerous forces would be needed to lead the war effort. And like always, the Witch-king followed the commands of his Master. Misc. Info Sample RP: He walked through the long hallways of Minas Morgul with the grace and confidence of a great king...which he was, even though thousands of years had passed since he last had had a kingdom to rule. Despite this, both his enemies and subjects called him with a title that was usually reserved for rulers. He was the Witch-king of Angmar, and though Angmar was lost over millenia ago, nobody dared to question the name. He wore a great armor of steel and iron, and even though by all logic loud clangs should have been heard...only silence followed him. For he was the lord of Minas Morgul, and none of his subjects dared to even utter the smallest word in his presence unless he ordered them to. The Witch-king had always believed in ruling through intimidation and fear, and the orcs of Minas Morgul were no exception to this rule. They were terrified of him, more afraid of him then any of their opponents. It was the reason why they never ran from a battle - whatever was against them on the battlefield was nothing compared to what was expecting them if they would falter and escape. A death in the hands of the enemy would be merciful to what he would do to them. Every one of them knew what happened if they should anger him. This was why, even though he was only passing through the great hallway, each of them was completely silent. In fact, they barely moved. It was exactly how he liked it. However, he was not here for the specific purpose of striking fear to his troops. He was simply passing by. He walked to one of the largest rooms of Minas Morgul, which he had adopted as the main room for his generals to gather and plan the war efforts that Sauron ordered them to perform. It had already been equipped with maps of Middle-earth when the tower was Minas Ithil, and although the political forces of the map had changed somewhat during the thousand years that had passed since he captured the stronghold from Gondor, the landscape was still valid. Mountains and forests were old, older then even him, and they were still quite usable. When he entered the room, his generals and commanders were already waiting there. The Witch-king was always the last to arrive - nobody dared to enter late to these conferences. He did not tolerate tardiness from the men that were expected to perform perfectly in battlefield as well. The highest ranking of his generals, Gothmog, was in his usual place, overseeing a large map of Middle-earth that was spread on the table. The old orc had been through countless battles, and his battle-scarred face was a proof of his achievements. Khamúl was there as well, one of his brethren, the second-in-command of Nazgúl. He glanced at Gothmog and uttered a single word. By now, the orc knew what the Witch-king required of him. "Speak." The old commander spoke with the stern tone of a military man, telling him of the most recent positions of the enemy that their scouts had discovered, the arrival of the reinforcements they had gained from Mordor and of the Easterling forces from Rhún, who would arrive to the Tower later this day. He would meet with those forces later, speak with their commander and spend more time in the War Room. The Witch-king was glad of their arrival. They were different from the orcs. They were organized, skilled and powerful, and a small force of Easterlings was capable of the same as an orc force that was three times as large. Rhún was an old and vast land, and a realm could not have either of those qualities if it did not possess a powerful and trained army. His master had indeed been brilliant to ally Mordor with these men. The allies of Mordor were perhaps more vast then ever. Rhún, Harad, Khand...ancient enemies of Gondor had joined together with them, to crush their hated opponent for once and for all. And with him leading the army, they would...and his master would finally have everything he wanted. And if Sauron had what he wanted...so did the Witch-king. Did you Read the Rules?
