Rising black, blacker and darker than the vast shades amid which it stood, the cruel pinnacles and iron crown of the topmost tower of Barad-dûr. Wall upon wall, battlement upon battlement, black, immeasurably strong, mountain of iron, gate of steel, tower of adamant...Barad-dûr, Fortress of Sauron. Light came from only above the Fortress (all knew it was from the Lidless Eye) and Mount Doom (which stood many miles away). Before the Dark Tower there was amassed a force of Orcs, Trolls, and folk of Darkness, banging upon drums, waving their Red Eye banners and chanting in Black Speech, "Sauron! Sauron! Sauron! Sauron!..." The army standing below the tower stood at a force of millions of Orcs, new and old spawns. Trolls massing into the thousands. The force was near countless and spanned across from Orodruin to Barad-dûr's gates. At the head stood the Nine and the Mouth of Sauron. Eight of the Nine Nazgûl stood before the steel gate and they all waited. The time they waited was too long to count, but in the end, there came a rumbling and a clanking of gears and metal contraptions colliding as the two doors slowly opened and a darkness poured out over the army. Silence came over the vast, black soldiery as a figure from within the shadow of the Fortress; tall and grim. They looked upon him and knew him. He was the Dark Lord of Middle-earth. Sauron stepped forward and in full armor and weapon at his side, he looked up and they recognized his chilling visage. The Lieutenant of Barad-dûr shouted, "The Dark Lord hath returned!" As his low voice raised into a joyful shout, the Nazgûl screeched, Orcs and Trolls shouted in rejoice and cheered. Horns brayed and shook the Earth below the army. But Sauron raised his hand and in his dark and terrible tone he said, "Brusizig srinkh gûgizub durbum agh nargzabizig bidroizub!" ]["I have gathered my former strength and I want my revenge!"][ The folk of Mordor then cheered again. Then he raised his hand again and spoke. "Zaugizig rad mazaukir za bot yonk dumûlarz snû izig mazuf..." ]["I must now make war on this world more quickly than I wished..."][ The Nazgûl and Mouth knew their role in proceeding. Sauron walked up to them and spoke as they nodded and agreed. Sauron ordered them to begin massing all troops in the land to Udûn and Morgul to begin assaults upon the fronts of Gondor in the near future. Every troop available were to be sent forward as soon as the forces were fully massed and armed. Nurn was to be dredged for fish and hunting was to be made for the troops to be fed. Messages were to be sent to the allies of Mordor: Haradwaith and Rhûn. The forces were to be massed on every front lines. Sauron planned on contacting the lords of the lesser lands of Darkness and preparing all forces to assault everything upon the west side of the Anduin. The end of Middle-earth was to begin and the One Ring had to be located. Four of the Eight in Mordor were to be dispersed to search for the Ring according to it's last position's heading: Rivendell. The Four had to guard every flank about Lórien. Saruman would guard all crossings of the Isen with his newly founded Uruk-hai. The Legion of Terror, that had never been defeated before, was to be divided into two groups: 1 to the Morannon to guard after the troops dispersed into the lands beyond and the other to Morgul and to guard the other main passage into Mordor. These were the beginning outlines to the assault upon Middle-earth. Sauron had his plan set and the end had come for all. |
