Silvia Kydam warily trudged over one of the many bridges that led into Tar Valon. Her feet sore and blistered from the endless days of walking, but as she now looked on the gleaming ivory city she knew in her heart that it was worth it, even if she couldn't be Aes Sedai then she could at the very lest find a job waiting tables again, in a city like this, she would be happy cleaning gutters. The hum and bustle reminded her of Lugard but at a more refined and civilized pace, with few shouted insults and even fewer angry cart drivers. The first thing that caught her eye and made her gasp was the bone white shaft that was the White Tower. Gleaming and sticking straight up into the sky like the pillar of heaven, she knew that she was home, even if all she could do was look, she was home. Her stomach was less pleased then she however, and began to growl but she stamped angrily down on it's interruptions and began to stride towards the Tower, her body suffused with a renewed vigor and energy. It was surprisingly easy to get to the Tower, seeing as most major roads lead to it and she hadn't veered of the road that lead from the Bridge gate. In what seemed like no time she was standing in front of a small wall that separated the Tower from the rest of the World. She nervously eyed the two guards that where stationed at the gate, not sure if they would throw her out, but she resolved that she would find out the hard way. Steeling herself she marched through the gate as if expecting to face an army of horny wagon drivers with nothing on but her shift. When the guards didn't stop her she kept right on marching until she found herself in front of the Tower itself in a great courtyard, she didn't even register the other people sharing the great space, all she saw was the Tower. A tear of joy welled up in her eye. |

A new Novice was due today. As Jo'hon wanted to clear his head, get a bit of fresh air whilst also escaping from the mountains of paperwork that was piling up rapidly on his desk he decided to greet the latest Novice. For the Whites, this was rather unusual but Jo'hon felt that it would be a good idea. As he passed through corridors, Novices and Accepted curtsied, and Jo'hon acknowledged them with nods. He had arrived in the courtyard. There were a group of young women there, but it was clear to see who was the new one; the woman who did not yet have her Novice robes. "Greetings, my name is Jo'hon and am of the White Ajah. Whilst in the Tower, you are expected to abide with all our rules, and suffer the consequences if you disobey them." He thought he might be sounding a little strict, so he gave her a warm smile. "If you will follow me and I will introduce you briefly to the key people. The two most important people for you in the Tower is the Amyrlin Seat and the Mistress of Novices, who I hope you shall meet very soon." He glanced at the new arrival, and wasn't sure how she was taking it, so he decided to start a conversation with her. "What is your name, Child?" he asked, while they walked through the corridors. |

Silvia didn't have time to gawk before a rather ordinary looking man approached her, she blinked, could he be Aes Sedai? She was expecting someone, more....noticeable. She had no idea what the White Ajah was and talk of rules and punishment started to make her nervous. Silvia fell into step behind Jo'hon, moving more in a scurry then a walk. Was being Aes Sedai going to be harder then enduring life in the orphanage? If it was she didn't think she could do it, but as her soft side whinnied, the side of her that didn't quit, that always fought told her that she would do whatever it takes, she believed that voice. She nearly yelped out of shock when he asked her name, she had been so lost in thought. Wonderful way to start out Silvia... "My name is Silvia Kydam, Aes Sedai." She said quietly not knowing what title, if any to use. |

Just like every time that Jin had decided to roam the Tower, there were mills of people gathered about. She felt just a little out of place- her plain clothes in a sea of white. Of course there were scowls cast the wanna-be gleewoman's way but it was simple enough to for her just to ignore them. After all, if they didn't want to be respectful then it just wouldn't do to for her to entertain them later on in the day like she had originally planned. She was still running through the places that she could practice at when something amiss in the norm caught her eye. Obviously new by her walk, shoulders drawn in and away from the crowd at hand, Jin watched the girl for a full minute before one of the Aes Sedai got a hold of her. Jo'hon Sedai, a white, it appeared. A smile crept to Jin's face. Figures, she thought as the Aes Sedai started talking. Striding towards the two, she'd already decided on saving the girl's first impression of the Tower from being overwhelmed with just overzealous Aes Sedai and scrutinizing novices. She had come up from behind the new girl and latched an arm around the girl's on the opposite side of Jo'hon just as she introduced herself. "Jo'hon Sedai, sheesh. Get right down to the point, why don't you?" Jin interrupted to break a little of the tension for the new kid. "Don't worry 'bout the Aes Sedai's, Silivia. A lot of them are big teddy bears. Just watch your back and go with your gut feeling on things and you won't have to worry about punishments." Jin finished with a smile. Reaching out her free hand as a greeting, she warmly introduced herself, "I'm Jinaidn, just call me Jin though. Gleewoman wanna-be extraordinaire." |

Silvia listened with wide eyes to the woman who came out of nowhere. Aes Sedai...teddy bears? If she wasn't so sure that this woman was going to be hit by a bolt of lighting she would have been giggling uncontrollably. However the woman's infectious smile made Silvia give one of her rare and stunning smiles, something she hadn't done in years. It felt good to smile, and for once she let herself dream that maybe she was going to be happy here. She took the other woman's hand. "Nice to meet you Jin." She said quietly. |

Well, that was just a little bit surprising to Jin. She was used to people busting out into giggling fits or some other odd over-exaggerated emotion that clearly said that they wanted to make a good impression in front of the Aes Sedai. She cocked her head ever so slightly to the side to regard the girl as she lightly shook her hand. "I seem to be loosing my touch." She replied with a small laugh. Jin could feel a hint of sadness that seemed to stable itself to the girl's very being and it worried her a little bit. As a minstrel, Jin didn't only play at the happy-go-lucky personality, she lived it. It didn't seem fair to her that while she was living the life she'd always dreamed of, others were still bearing some sorrow around with them. "Hey, you'll do great here." Jin promised as she let a real smile shine through and not the cheesy show one that she wore everywhere. The whole while, Jin silently swore to somehow keep Silvia smiling. |

"I will definetly try." Silvia said looking over at the Aes Sedai who hadn't said anything since the odd woman had arrived. Silvia was suddenly over come by a surge of excitment and wonder, she was actually going to become Aes Sedai! Her excitment was suddenly tempered by memeories from her childhood, and the horrible things she had seen in the Lugard Orphanage. Tears sprung to her eyes, and suddenly she felt the need to hide her face, Aes Sedai, she bet, didn't cry. ((Sorry for the short post)) |

Having seen Jin suddenly interrupt, Jo'hon stayed silent. "Jo'hon Sedai, sheesh. Get right down to the point, why don't you?" Jo'hon couldn't help but smile a little, immediately composing himself. He glanced at Jin, hoping that she had not seen that, and stayed silent. We can learn a lot from observing, Jo'hon thought to himself and first impressions matter. If Jin gives a good impression of the Tower, this Silvia will most certainly enjoy it more. He realised how different the Tower had become. It was still extremely serious, and did not tolerate misbehaved Novices, but it was almost like the Tower had loosened up a little. He saw Silvia blink back tears, and he would have loved to give her a hug, but being a Novice was tough, and there wouldn't be someone there to hold her hand along every difficult step of the way. She would have to learn. "Jin," Jo'hon said as they strolled through the corridor. "you couldn't possibly give Silvia and I a tour could you? It's been a while since I've managed to escape from my office, and the paperwork has left me in a rather bewildered state at the moment." |
