Shortform name: Kyzylistan Real life culture influence: Tuva / Mongolia Real life culture of former colonizer: N/A Population: 36,560,234 GDP (PPP) per capita:15,430 GDP (nominal) per capita: 13,219 Military manpower (active/reserve): 110,000 / 200,000 Language(s): Tuvan, Mongolian Additional info: (I'm going to pretty much re-do the history of Kyzylistan, Arum) Kyzylistan, officially the Kyzylic Khanate, is a country located in north-eastern Tiandi. It's inhabited by just over 36 million people, most of which are part of the Kyzylic ethnic group. Kyzylistan is governed as a constitutional monarchy, whose monarch is Khan Uranenggui. The legislature is the unicameral Great Khural of Kyzylistan. The government is formed by the political party or coalition with the most seats. Real executive power is exercised by the cabinet, which is led by the Prime Minister. Kyzylic culture is linked to centuries of nomadic herding culture that existed along side a smaller agricultural society in the southern reaches of the country. By the mid 19th century, however, Kyzylistan had started to industrialize due to influences from its neighbors. Rapid industrialization and modernization caused a divide between the Khanate and elements of the working class, who eventually launched a socialist revolt in 1915. By 1917, the old Khanate had been dismantled, forcing the Khan to flee to a neighboring country. The revolutionaries established the People's Republic of Kyzylistan. Under socialist rule, large parts of the country's Tibetan Buddhist religious culture was destroyed, and a focus on further industrialization was put in place. A series of economic plans to bring the country into the modern age were met with mixed success. Thousands died under the oppressive regime, but infrastructure and quality of life for many Kyzylistani largely improved. By the 1970's, however, economic mismanagement and dissatisfaction led to revolts against the socialist government, which eventually led to the collapse of the socialists and the return of the Khan. The former Khanate was placed back in power, but with a new constitution to ensure positive growth of the nation continued. In the 1990's, a series of political reforms were put in place to limit the powers of the Khan. The Great Khural of Kyzylistan was given extended powers under the constitution. The Khan retains important powers in the governmental system, however, and he is revered as a national symbol. Today Kyzylistan is a nation divided by its hyper-developed city centers and its underdeveloped steppe communities. United by common religion, culture and Khan, Kyzylistan struggles with the growing secularism in urban centers, the subsequent push towards traditionalism by some elements in society, and the balance of the two. Major aspects of the Kyzylistani economy include agriculture, livestock, mineral mining, including copper, coal, molybdenum, tin, tungsten, and gold. Kyzylistan has embraced free market economics since the 1970's, and it works to attract banking and technology companies to the country. Link to claim example (optional): I don't really know where I should go. I want to have some borders so I can RP easily. I don't mind being landlocked necessarily, but having a coast would be nice. Would it be possible to have a huge ass lake/sea placed in my country? Honestly I'll probably be fine with any claim, so I trust you Arum :P Let me know if there is anything wrong with this app. Happy to change. Edited by Kyzylistan, May 14 2015, 11:46 AM.
