"LANTERNS BURN. THEIR LIGHTS ON END. NO MORE GUARDIANS RELEASING THEIR BREATH. WHO SHALL SAVE US FROM THIS SPECTRUM OF DEATH?" - Written on a destroyed structure in Oa
Whispers of the CorpsLanterns burn. Lanterns scream. Lanterns weep. Lanterns squirm. This the tale of how the Lanterns came to end.
A few days after End-Day ( http://s15.zetaboards.com/Teen_Titans/topic/7978909/1/#new ), the word broke out. "Earth has no more heroes." The words that some villains would happily sit around and wait for, for centuries. Earth was vulnerable and it had no idea what type of threats would come to try and destroy it for all the trouble that it had caused in the past for their evil schemes. Some aliens wanted it turned to ash. Some wanted it to rule. Some wanted it for resources. And some wanted it for the thrill of the hunt.
With no defenses, and Hal Jordan gone, the Green Lanterns knew they had to respect his great life and also do their job by defending it. They were able to secure it from early threats, but threats just kept getting bigger and bigger. The Green Lanterns reached to the other corps. The other corps declined, until they watched their brother corps face extinction. They all decided to help. All Lanterns in the same place - no fighting. All for the name of Hal Jordan, Guy Gardener and Jon Stewart. Each day, more and more threats arrived - causing Earth to be protected by less and less Lanterns.
The last line of Lanterns awaited for the final threat. However - none appeared. The criminals from beyond the stars realised that no matter what, Earth would always have saviours. The Lanterns decided to return to their planets in an attempt to gain more recruits. When they returned, a powerful mysterious figure was spreaded across to each base. "No more light." From that day forward, all Lanterns were dead. The Guardians have not been seen since.
However, the Bat-computer has detected the first energy signal of a Lantern for the first time in 16 years. What could this mean?
