The last video was the best one. Even has all the jetstream in it. And the hamtaro shot was the best part(maybe). Great article.

All of those definitely stick out in my mind. I think the Naruto Promo, and the IGPX music video would've looked good up there too. The Welcome to Toonami vid was in one word "Toonami." All the shows were in it, and it's definitely an inspiration for me when I make Toonami inspired videos. The article was definitely nostalgic, taking readers on a ride through some of what I feel is some of what has become symbolic for Toonami.

FYI: Three of the videos have been removed D:

Technologically Superior (another link-http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b-X-FCQftgc)
Space Is the Place (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CIHhr0S0dAU)
Endless Waltz - Long Promo (couldn't find another link)

I've forgotten how amazing Toonami videos were! I'm just recently rediscovering my fandom; I haven't watched Toonami regularly since the end of Megas, between school and having roommates with dissimilar tv tastes and nothing really catching my eye on the block. I didn't really realize how good we had it until it was gone, you know? I wish I had payed a little more attention when these videos were on the air. Thank god for youtube!

Thanks a lot for telling me that; I wonder why they took them down... At any rate, I've gotten Tech Superior and Space back up; no YouTube copy of the Endless Waltz long exists, so I'm uploading a new copy as we speak. Everything should be right-o shortly.

EDIT: YouTube keeps slapping it down for Terms of Use violation. Grrr...

Edit; okay - yeah, YT's not letting me upload it. At any rate, Sonofnight reminded me of the killer IGPX long promo, so I put that in instead. It probably should have been there in the first place, so no harm done.

Trying to name just the top 20 promos of Toonami is hard. There are so many good ones that didn't make. I think this needs to be redone into three lists: One for promos about specific seris and movies, one for general Toonami programing and specials, and one that are just those music videos that really aren't so much ads as just really cool and Toonami is cool by association. To quote myself from my panels, "What do those really promote? They don't say watch Toonami or a certain show. They are just cool."

Other that just not enough space it was very good.

Struggle is not really a Toonami promo actually. That one was used to promote DragonBall Z's normal Cartoon Network 12:30am timeslot, before the weeknight Midnight Run came about. Just thought I'd chime in on that. It's one of my favorites though. I had that promo taped and watched it over and over and over until the tape showed a noticeable weardown. lol

Great article!

These are the kind of things which is what Toonami is all about. Creating a great experience, and showing some awesome action cartoons to go along with it.

I really, really liked the "Mad Rhetoric" and "Broken Promise (Dreams)" interstitials, and the Rurouni Kenshin and G Gundam promos are just plain and simple awesome.

Toonami's had a history of making some of the best promos ever, it's quite a shame that they are so few and far between these days, and the ones that do come out give the feeling of being held back.

I think the Hall of Fame is fine as is. You are right, though; Nick composed a group of promos, general bumps & Anime Music Videos (AMVs). Each serves its purpose & belongs here because of their quality & originality. As for Jeff Harris' "Welcome to Toonami" AMV (set to Saliva's "Ladies & Gentlemen"), he just about covered EVERY show EVER on Toonami or Toonami Jetstream. I can't recall any he may have missed, but it's only 1 or 2.
For those of you who may not "get" Toonami, I refer you to the "Building You A Better Cartoon Show" bump. In business-speak, that is Toonami's Vision, IMHO. I didn't see a bump, but I know this statement is burned in your TDNA (Toonami DNA), Nick: "The home of the best action cartoons on the planet!" IMHO, more business-speak: Toonami's Mission Statement!
You newbies & whipper-snappers think us geezers (almost 30 & above) are stupid for going on about Toonami, because you only see the current 2 hours/week Toonami currently is with 3 shows (rumored to be 2 soon). Toonami since October 2007 is in a Brain-Dead Coma & a shell of its former self. Check out Toonami Fan some more, then...
If you catch Toonami Fever, go to The X Bridge & join Revolution 11! Can you Make A Difference? Once Upon a Time, Toonami Told You So... Toonami 98 Feedback bump… Thanks to C. Martin Croker AKA Moltar:
“IS TOONAMI A FAILED EXPERIMENT? DESTINED FOR DESTRUCTION… FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER WE WANT TO HEAR WHAT YOU THINK… HERE’S YOUR SHOT TO MANIPULATE THE MANUAL… DROP US A LINE AT… THANKS IN ADVANCE”

I'll be honest - the current Toonami is hardly reminiscent of the block's rich history. It's probably pretty hard to get the idea if you just saw Toonami for the first time a little while ago. In fact, without first-hand experience of the block's beginnings and prime years, I would hazard a guess that it's basically impossible to become a true fan.

Yup, I totally agree. :D :D

I see your point, echo, but at the moment, I doubt they will. Cartoon Network still has the "Funny For Your Face" afternoon block, but if they wanted to, they could create a weeknight 1-hour block before [adult swim]. They almost did... Storm Hawks & Naruto would work, but since CN doesn't seem to care, we're stuck.

I so just re-read this article. And I also re-watched the promos.

I just ordered outlaw star and gundam wing dvds. Jesus that gundam wing promo was epic. If toonami still made promo's like that, then maybe we wouldnt be down to watching two hours once a week.

I hope we get gundam 00.

Hope you enjoy the shows; I don't think GW has aged well, personally, but OS is still a lot of fun.

Aged well? I have to disagree, I can still watch it now and get the thrill I had years ago when I first watched the show.

Its a common theme amongst my friends and I to watch endless waltz every couple of weeks. It has aged wonderfully. The same can be said for outlaw star.

I think toonami needs a few good promos like these. I mean, we've clearly lost the space aspect of the block. But it shouldnt hinder from good promos.
