Honestly, I really don't want to see One Piece on Nicktoons Network. I was hoping the show could return in the summer coupled with a completely relaunched Toonami. Another reason would be that my family only has basic cable and I wouldn't be able to watch the show. |

That certainly would be an issue. I don't currently get Nicktoons either but as I wont have anything besides local channels soon I suppose it doesn't effect me either way. One Piece should stay on CN if it can. There's no reason for it to leave (or I suppose, no reason for it not to return since it's not on currently). But I wrote this up in order to discuss what might come out of One Piece moving to Nicktoons. |

One thing to consider that is that Avatar ends this year. Try as they may, Nickelodeon cannot stretch the series out much longer. There ARE the live-action movies coming out, but that is basically an adaption of the animated series and I think Nickelodeon is setting themselves up for a major letdown. Skyland, which is basically a sci-fi Avatar, has blown up in Nickelodeon's faces ('course, didn't help that the series was aired out of order). Until they can think up something that can replace Avatar, the only thing to do is to buy one. There's anime all over the place, a lone long-running anime can suffice as an Avatar-replacement until something else catches on. CN's recent behavior suggests to me they want to shunt anime aside. Not only that, but acquiring Clone Wars had to have cost CN a LOT of money. It would be stupid to let Clone Wars get away from them, which is probably why CN ponied up the cash, but that probably broke the bank. However, Clone Wars' probable sheer power in the ratings would make it worth it in the end, even if it means letting a bazillion contracts expire. I have no doubts in my mind that CN would sacrifice Naruto, Moribito (if they have it), and One Piece to air Clone Wars. Nicktoons Network, on the other hand, strikes me as a network that has done a lot of research on what made CN successful back in the day, and they wish to emulate that. The one thing they lack at the moment is strong original comedy cartoons (which they seem to want to change FAST) and any non-Avatar actioners. They're taking a step in the action direction right now for the Marvel cartoons, but I'm sure NN would prefer putting the two shows on an established block than on an entirely new one, as there's no guarantee either show will do well. A quick'n'simple way to establish said action block is to shove a lot of anime on there and rotate them out as the original action cartoons and the more desired original properties arrive. At the same time, despite the logic of it all, I don't seriously think this will happen. I think CN will try to keep One Piece just to prevent it from becoming a threat. OP, for all of its struggles so far, still has a lot of potential, and CN may try to hold onto it just so it doesn't become an enemy bastion in the future. |

CN dos'int seem to care much about anime anymore... so, sadly, I can see this happening, OP going to a network that no one has. |

But the question is, when Avatar finishes, what replaces it? Avatar may have reruns of earlier seasons on Nicktoons (I don't know as I don't have Nicktoons either), but Avatar is currently on Nickelodeon (standard cable v. Nicktoons on digital/satellite). Would One Piece start on Nickelodeon? As of now, CN will only have 3 action properties in the fall on the Friday block. They are Clone Wars, Ben 10: Alien Force (hopefully in its 2nd Season) & The Secret Saturdays. The last 2 are from CN Studios, I assume. Until Batman: The Brave & The Bold starts in March 2009, that's not a strong block; the individual shows may be, but 1.5 hours is even less than the current Toonami. And which show would be doubled up until B:TB&TB? If Lucasfilm makes enough eps for the 1st season, probably Clone Wars. Unless the 1st showing is a repeat of last week's premiere, followed by this week's premiere. That's how the Naruto Hour 1st worked on Saturdays until they decided to run 2 premieres back-to-back. People are concerned because they aren't confident in CN continuing to show quality anime. You may think CN would fight to keep One Piece fron Nick and/or Nicktoons. I refer you to [adult swim]'s failure to hold on to Futurama & letting it go to another Viacom network: Comedy Central. |

CN can make the Friday block as long or a short as they want to but I'd imagine it'll look a little something like this. 07:00 - Transformers 07:30 - Storm Hawks 08:00 - Secret Saturdays 08:30 - Ben 10: Alien Force 09:00 - Star Wars: The Clone Wars 09:30 - Secret Saturdays (encore) 10:00 - Ben 10: Alien Force (encore) 10:30 - Star Wars: The Clone Wars (encore) They may not encore all 3, in which case they may only encore The Clone Wars or any of the other 2 and Clone Wars and they could probably throw Samurai Jack in there before or after the Clone Wars encore. Clone Wars is going to get an encore right before Adult Swim, it's pretty obvious. If One Piece really is heading to Nicktoons then I'd much rather see Friday night action include Naruto and either Samurai Jack or Moribito (or any PT worthy action show they might have). Because just imagine how awesome this Spring line-up would be. 07:00 - Transformers 07:30 - Secret Saturdays 08:00 - Ben 10: Alien Force 08:30 - Batman: The Brave and the Bold 09:00 - Star Wars: The Clone Wars 09:30 - Naruto Shippudden 10:00 - Gundam 00 10:30 - Star Wars: The Clone Wars (encore) Super heroes, giant robots, space adventures, shounen fighters, and sci-fi galore. Now that's a Toonami line-up (or whatever the block might be). |

Um, I think you meant to say a network that many people don't have. Don't be misinformed, people do have Nicktoons Network. I am one of those people. |
