We've been silent for a month, but Toonami Fan is back online with Andrew's look at Naruto: Shippuden.

Did he put any story spoilers in the article? I don't want to have the story ruined or anything.

A lot of us are crossing our fingers over this one. This is the one anime that is more likely than not to get on CN. Of course, it largely depends if Naruto manages to hold out, but if Naruto wasn't doing well I figure Toonami would already be toast.

I believe the next filler arc, involving "stars" or something along those lines, is the last of the "good" filler. If Naruto can hold out after the end of this "stars" arc, we'll get Shippudden. And there is no way CN would not promote the show's arrival, not when Naruto remains one of CN's bigger hits right now.

The calculations for Shippudden's earliest start date would be November 29th if the show premieres on Saturday, the 28th if it premieres on Friday. If CN and Viz wished to follow up the final Naruto filler episode with Shippudden the same night, the start date would be the 21st/22nd.

So get ready, if CN doesn't catch up to the dub we'll see Shippudden late this year, a great early Christmas present. Unfortunately, Andrew is right when he says the show is slow, in fact, it is slow as molasses at periods. Not to mention they stuffed a filler arc (a good one, from what I understand) after episode 52 or so. Hopefully the story will get faster pacing after the filler winds down, which it reportedly is.

Shippuden should come soon as possible. I was forced to tell my sister what fillers are.

In terms of content, Naruto: Shippuden could push the envelope more than ever. It might even become the network's first non-Adult Swim, TV-14 rated show - but I suspect that Viz won't let it push beyond the current TV-PG restraints. That said, it will still be the most mature program the block has aired in quite a while.

Viz? Don't you mean Cartoon Network, Andrew?! IMHO, it's CN that's kept TV-14 rated series off Toonami/CN & still on [adult swim]. However, with Total Drama Island pushing the comedy envelope with TV-PG D, (hopefully soon to be DLS), it's not inconceivable that "softer" TV-14 series (Bleach?) could be on CN/Toonami. "Harder" TV-14 & TV-MA (Blood+) will still be on [as].
Preferably, I want to see uncut series. If it isn't cut for Toonami (for now, TV-PG V), then it will be on [as] as TV-14. Guardian of the Spirit AKA Moribito so far is in that category. As for Shippuden AKA Hurricane Chronicles, lots of ASMB anime fans want it on [as]. CN still thinks Naruto is a cash cow, so Shippuden is more likely to be cut to TV-PG V (or TV-PG LV?) & shown on primetime Friday or primetime Saturday rather than TV-14 latenight. If [as] is smart, Naruto: Shippuden would start @11:00 PM (10:00 CT)... if it can't be on Toonami!

Why are they cahnging the name to hurracane chronicles instead of keeping it as shippuden? everyone calls it shippuden...

like the article Andrew, and I hope it's a another hit, just because Naruto's the only thing(it seems like) keeping Toonami alive.

I don't read Japanese, but I'll take a guess & say "Shippuden" translates into "Hurricane Chronicles". Here's the page from Anime News Network. No one's changing the name, IMO. BTW, if this will be on Cartoon Network, it makes sense to use the English version, since most 6-11 boys don't care about the Japanese name. Teen & older fans/geeks do, however.

It's a similar issue with a show that should be on [adult swim] in a couple of months. When the credits come up, what do you want to see? Seirei no Moribito? Or Guardian of the Spirit? The English is a close translation of the Japanese.

Memo to Nick: This is a similar problem with the Ben 10 article. Click the forum link on the "Kickin' into Action" article & it takes you here...

I am positive the show will be on toonami. a feww week ago I bought some shippuuden merchandise in f.y.e and I was curious of why in america they would have a show only in japanese, so you know they are going to dub it. I bought to posters of sasuke and naruto in shippuuden outfits. I also have a shippuuden shirt. I was curious and read the little corner text thing and it said something toonami and viz media. but if it says toonami I think they are going to put it on toonami. I beleive they are just having economic issues at the oment but Im sure that soon theyll release shippuuden.

Considering Toonami is no longer on the air, the chances of it airing on Toonami are zero. Naruto as a whole has disappeared from CN even though it was getting good ratings as I understand it.

It says Toonami on Shippuden merchandise? An interesting development indeed. Can you take a picture for us or something?
