I can already say Hulk: Gamma Corps is a no-go, it was confirmed dead weeks ago. My article is woefully out of date in that category.

Also, Deltora Quest is on the selling block by Dentsu, the advertising agency behind the show. Basically, Dentsu wants American companies to partner up with Dentsu to release Deltora Quest and begin financing/creating original productions using Western-style stories with Japanese-style animation. It is an interesting prospect. So perhaps DQ has the best chance of any anime on that little "example" list to get on TV.

Your article isn't out of date - my update schedule is. My sincerest apologies for letting this stuff get stale, Mac, as it is an excellent article. Too many things to juggle, I guess. I'll try to keep updates brisker in the future, esp. on this sort of stuff.

CN doesn't want sci-fi?! I only have 5 Words - Star Wars: The Clone Wars! It's up to Lucasfilm whether the movie & series succeed or bomb, but I think they will succeed for 2 Reasons:

  • The Star Wars fan/geek... sorry, Rizwan ;) ... will turn out for both products, unless they are tired of Star Wars.
  • The 2 new characters will bring in more casual fans & expand the current universe.
Ahsoka Tano, Anakin's padawan & Clone Commander Rex are the new characters. Except for them, everyone else is already part of the Star Wars universe. This is the 1st movie for Asajj Ventress, but not the 1st series. Besides already being part of the SW expanded universe, she was featured in Genndy Tartakovsky's superb 2-D series... Star Wars: Clone Wars. Not to be confused with the 3-D CGI Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

IMHO, if not for the new guys, especially Ahsoka, this would be George Lucas rehashing a series that was already done well with cutting edge technology. Like he readded cut scenes & CGI enhancements to the Special Editions of the original saga. Do I still think this is a winner for Lucasfilm/Warner Bros. & ultimately CN & TNT? YES!

CN doesn't want sci-fi?!  I only have 5 Words - Star Wars: The Clone Wars!

Technically, Star Wars is considered to be space fantasy. There is a magical, mystical element to it that even the loosest space opera or softest sci-fi doesn't really have. Of course, no matter how you think of it, CN would've been mighty foolish to turn down Star Wars for any reason (remember the old rumors of Clone Wars being Disney-bound? Guess Disney's censors ultimately forced ole` mouse-ears to pass).

In any case, James Harvey, a highly connected guy over at Toon Zone, has reported that Marvel will be making an official announcement on Hulk: Gamma Corps soon. I betcha it is the official "it's dead" announcement, but as of right now the show is technically still alive. So that puts my article still in date.

As an aside, I really did like that Moribito picture Nick posted. Seems fitting.

And yeah, I have issues with She-Hulk. Long story, but she wrecked one of my favorite SatAM cartoons of all time. It is not helpful that Marvel's basically treated her as a joke in recent years in the actual comic books.

Toonami has surprised us in recent months, so it'll be interesting to see what comes down the pipe.
