Bill talks alternate universes, with the news that Moribito has hit AS.

Bill's got an idea here. I was considering that CN try a similar approach if they had managed to land Gurren Lagann, back on TZ, that Toonami lands edited premieres and AS gets uncut reruns. Moribito's difference between probable-edited and uncut, though, isn't major like GL's would be. Other than the removal of the knee-to-the-groin (and even then, the kick to the groin on Batman & Mr. Freeze was left in, though that wasn't Toonami) and the slash of the poor half-crazed soul, there really isn't much in Moribito that wouldn't have to face the editing knife . . . unless the dub has swearing the sub doesn't.

Thanks, macattack. Most of the YouTube clips for Moribito are action-based & OP themes subbed in different languages. I haven't seen any clips that are mostly dialogue yet, but maybe I haven't looked hard enough. I'm with you; from what I've seen & heard from other people, Moribito isn't b*lls-to-the-wall action all the time & most of it is Naruto-level.

2 Notes to Nick:
1) Please fix the topic link on the article; it's going to my "toonamirealtraitor" thread & not this one.
2) Thanks for improving the resolution on my pics; they both look sharper than they did in Microsoft Word. Even my Fake Bump looks sharper when you imbedded it than when I play it on YouTube. Barring trade secrets, could you tell me how you did it here on in a PM? This padawan can always learn tips from the masters.

Finally, if anyone is interested, I not only provided all the source material for Nick, but it took me 2 days from start to finish to create my fake bump in PowerPoint, export the slides as JPEGS, import them to a Movie Maker project along with the MP3 music, and upload to YouTube. 1st PP presentation, 1st MM project/movie, 1st upload. And that was the First movie that you never saw! I probably did it the hard way, but it felt good. The Second movie just used some new & replacement slides, then exported/imported & created/uploaded; easier, of course.

Fix'd the feedback link. As for the embed and pics... The pics are actually larger versions of the same thing I found on different sites; the originals were a bit small, so I just did some searching and got something a bit crisper. As for the YouTube embed, my guess is that it's sharper because the screen size is smaller - had to reduce it for the formatting.

It's sad that it's never going to happen, and a good deal of that thanks to this and this.

As for the Animation Age Ghetto, that's been going on at CN for a while. My personal beef that I hope to write an article about somewhere else... someday... is the Failure of Cartoon Network to not aim for more than 1 demographic. Tickle U in 2005 was supposed to compete with Nick Jr. (2-5 year olds), but CN gave up on it fairly quickly. If CN had a block for 12-17 year olds, it could take almost all the TV-14 shows on Adult Swim & leave the "harder" TV-14 shows & all the TV-MA shows on the Swim. Toonami could be a teen block, if CN wasn't so rigid in their thinking.

For my first post, I feel compelled to note that the fight scene shown in this article got a TV-PG-V instead of the expected TV-14.

I think this show has been pretty good so far. I wish it wasn't doing so badly on [adult swim]. Then again, that might be because it's on at 1:30 AM and the show doesn't seem to be as action heavy as the other shows.

I'm not really sure moving this to Toonami would do much, though I would like to see them try it. Do you guys think kids/teens would get bored from this show though? Most kids I know love non stop action show, not shows with alot of talking, which Moribito seems to be.

At the same time, Avatar has some episodes where virtually nothing happens and Naruto has arcs filled with nothing but stretching a quick plot as far as it can go (the search for Tsunade, for instance), and both are still popular.

If kids can sit through the snooze-worthy search for Tsunade they can watch Moribito.

Moribito has NOT been doing well in the ratings, it is likely pulling in less than 200,000. Those are Pilot Candidate and Mobile Suit Gundam numbers. Note that neither show lasted very long on AS. I would not be shocked if it is pulled halfway through. I would much rather have the show given a second chance on Toonami if that happened instead of vanishing for good, though. Not to mention I have slowly begun to love the show and want to see it succeed.

Lack of promotion (the single bump it got claimed, without any traditional wink-wink sarcasm, that it sucked), the fact that it is unquestionably a shonen in the vein of Rurouni Kenshin if not Naruto airing on a block that has run Trinity Blood and Samurai Champloo (which is shonen in name only), and the horrendous timeslot are more to blame than the show itself, I think.

Something tells me that unless there are 1 or 2 episodes later that are violent enough to be TV-14, this series will be rated TV-PG or TV-PG V at the most. Nevertheless, there are strong Moribito fans on the ASMB, including me, who love this show. I hope you're wrong, mac, about [as] possible pulling this halfway through. Media Blasters has the agreement with CN/[as], but if [as] cancels it, I will lead board riots & encourage John Sirabella, MB CEO, to sue CN/[as] for Breach of Contract.

I'm glad we agree about the Avatar/sometimes-Naruto feel of Moribito, but if CN feels 6-11 will only go for constant action, then they'll keep it on [as]; if they can get it out of the 1:30 AM "Black Hole", ratings can only go up. That worked for Code Geass...

I don't think the bump even implied it sucked, but it implied low ratings & unauthorized streaming ("web dub pirations") would hurt. Gee, what about lack of promotion & a "death slot", huh?! BTW, IMHO, this is more like a seinen than shonen, but the novel was written for teens/young adults in Japan & Scholastic is marketing to that demo as well. It skews older in Japan as well... like Avatar.

Glad you liked it, linkpre! BTW, if you've watched the last 2 episodes, you didn't miss anything in ep. 1 that would cause you to be lost. Just a slight warning: This moves slower than Naruto, but it's starting to weave an interesting story... and yes, there are Awesome Fights!
