This is THE best night for Toonami fans in a long, long time, and I have returned to make my once-traditional talkback for it, complete with poll.

There's nothing that needs to be said. Two shows that were almost Toonami (Bleach and Trigun) flank a bunch of classic Toonami programs including the premiere of a Tenchi Muyo OVA that never aired in any form on Cartoon Network, and we wash it down with classic Astro Boy and Gigantor in all their black-and-white glory.

We got the return of Toonami intros (albeit 15-second ones) in front of every show but Bleach which kept its original intro (the 11th opening, Anima Rossa by Porno Graffiti). And we got to see both classic Toonami bumpers with remixed ones too.

An entire night. Only Toonami. Just on [adult swim] this time.

Remark about the incredible night we got however you want to. This is Williams Street's gift to us.

If you like what we got, contact Cartoon Network and Adult Swim. This might be the best way to do it: http://www.cartoonnetwork.com/feedback/ Though celebrating openly on Adult Swim's forums might help too. :P

Peace out.

Blew my MIND that they had Tenchi OVA 3. What a treat, holy hell. I hadn't even seen it yet. I voted for that YuYu Hakusho ep, though. What a classic!

Gundam and DBZ tugged at my heartstrings, though.

What I thought was disappointing was that there was no classy finish, just the typical "Later...". C'mon!

Hey guys! Been a long time!

I was okay with the Later bump. It there some kind of closure or signoff I feel like it would've been too final. And while this was a one time thing, I think it's meant to gauge a response to see what they could do with the block.

Honestly, I loved how they did it. And hearing Tom say things he couldn't oridinarily say during a primetime hour or during the normal 4 to 7 block. Priceless. Though I'm voting for that Tenchi OVA. So good!

And while this was a one time thing, I think it's meant to gauge a response to see what they could do with the block.

That made me curious, too. When Lance Heiskell hyped about it on Twitter, one of the hashtags was "ratings matter." Hmmmm...

Anyway, I'm glad how respectfully they pulled it off. They could have just pulled out some super-old bumpers from the archive and called it a day, but no. Instead, they went the extra mile. Their selection of shows was well-handled, and they also thankfully used the 2004 version of TOM instead of the 2007 version.

I had one complaint about the stunt, though: They could have used more music videos. "Dreams" was the only one they aired. What about Advanced Robotics or Mad Rhetoric?

Blum was also telling people to post comments and retweet. I did as much as I could.

I also agree about the music vids, especially Mad Rhetoric. MR was the opposite of Dreams (balls-out action) and would have been a perfect bookend. It was also mostly made up of clips from the shows that aired last night, anyway.

That...was one of the best nights I've had...in YEARS!!! I recorded the whole night (still use a VCR) and I'm definitely keeping that tape...I'll watch it every now and then to cheer myself up...

Man, I want them to make that PERMANENT for AS Saturdays! What do we gotta do to make that happen!?!

I stayed up and watched the whole thing. What a sight for sore eyes. It's not everyday you get an April Fool's Day PRESENT.

I won't get my hopes up about something bigger coming from this, but it's very possible it could happen. Toonami was trending all night long. No one has forgotten. We all still love it and we were just reminded why.

Show of the night? The entire thing!

Ah, I see this place is already well in hand.

My crusade to inform the world about Toonami's inevitable Resurrection will continue.

Good day to you, children of better programming, perhaps one day I shall return victorious, reaping the benefits of a new and better television line up!

You know what I love already? That people are demanding that if it does come back, they want new and old programming.

It's like their speaking our language from years ago guys!

Well I'm sure you've all seen it by now, but Adult Swim sent this tweet out earlier:

"#BringBackToonami We've heard you. Thank you for your passion and interest - stay tuned."

Almost seems to good to be true... I know AS are big trolls sometimes but they aren't THIS cruel. So let's see what happens guys. Toonami's triumphant return just may be on the horizon.

What would you guys want if it did return? I would assume that it would take over AS's Saturday anime block at midnight. So basically a weekly Midnight Run. The April Fools version was cheap and used lots of reused footage. But if they were to bring it back seriously then I'd like there to at least be some new CGI and animations. My personal preference would be to completely revamp Toonami yet again. Bring in TOM5 (they obviously learned their lesson about TOM4) and let's make this a party. But maybe that'd be too expensive. So hopefully they at least still have the assets from the TOM3 era and can make some new animations and stuff with that. Of course, new game reviews, music videos and stuff like that would be in order as well. If Toonami were to come back then I want it to be an EXPERIENCE again like it was in the past. Not just an anime block with some haphazard Toonami branding in between. Otherwise it might as well stay gone.

As for shows, it'd be cool if they could bring in some new and old stuff to cover all the bases. If it's on Adult Swim then their pool (no pun intended lol) for shows is a lot larger since they don't have to worry about censorship anymore.

Keep your eyes peeled!

Well how about that, I remember my log in info.

I never would have dreamed this could become a reality but it's so close I can taste it.

I'm honestly quite fine with them doing this a bit cheaper and reusing stuff and maybe making some new TOM 3 and Sara clips from the files they have on hand. I always liked TOM 3 best actually.

TOM has adjusted well to the new content cap possible for Toonami on Adult Swim.

No more edit concerns for "teen appropriate shows" and no more concerns of skewing too old.

For the first time in years our opinions of this block matter. That's a very satisfying feeling I've gotta say.

April 1st was astounding. I could not believe my eyes and I didn't end up sleeping until an hour after Gigantor ended. It was quite a treat and to think it may not be the last we see of our old friend Toonami makes me downright giddy.

It's still really hard to take in the true fact that they are actually bring Toonami back on the air. I haven't been the same ever since it was wrongfully dropped and for once I actually truly feel happy. I really wouldn't mind them going back and just using TOM3 and using the 2004-2007 style. TOM 4 was ok, I liked the video styles that it featured, but I didn't like that they didn't air Toonami intros. Some new CGI would be appreciated and the use of the classic phat beats is a must. But as long as they capture the classic Toonami feel, I will be contempt with all decisions that they make.

TOM4 was made to be more kid-friendly and personable (with the facial features, 'cute' design, colorful jungle setting). It was not popular with the long-time Toonami fans because it was such a departure from our familiar TOM.

I think Williams Street knows that in general the people clamoring on Twitter and user forums about the April 1st event are 18+, and that for people that age Toonami and TOM means the 1-2-3 faceless robot models, and not TOM4.

If Toonami comes back, I think it's safe to say that it will be using the TOM3 (and related Sara) design or some sort of revision that keeps the logical TOM1-2-3 progression, as opposed to the "for kids" TOM4 design.

That said, TOM2 and the floating mask Sara are by far my favorite for nostalgia alone.

It would be awesome if they could work on getting Moltar in there. Was there a canon explanation for the Moltar -> TOM1 transition? I don't remember.

And yeah, the drum 'n bass has to return. Toonami = beats + space, that's basically it.

Nick, are you prepared to possibly start working on this site again? haha

I'm trying not to get my hopes up too much but at the same time...it just feels so close now...

Hah, I actually dusted off the Dreamweaver files on April 1st to put the info on the main page. I barely remembered how to do it, it had been so long!

Seriously, though, I would totally put up articles whenever if people had them, but there hasn't been much to say! And I didn't want to drown the site in a bunch of crying over Toonami's death, as I'm sure you know.

Here's hoping there'll be stuff to say soon, if not already!

I've got my head down with job applications and school work, but I'd like to make some guesses at the future if I can (and I'm sure others do, too!)

Yeah, I definitely would like some new stuff, like a TOM5 and such, but if they stick with TOM3 until it starts to pick up again, I don't mind one bit!

As for the shows, I would love new stuff and the classics, but most of all I'd like them to finish some of the stuff they didn't get a chance to before. We got to see that Tenchi that night because it was on AS late night instead of the prime time Toonami was on normally, so I'd like to see more there. Also, seeing the rest of Yu Yu Hakusho would be lovely...

Gah! There's just so much that I'd want to see! It would fill several more years of Saturdays!!! :) :D

I don't think Toonami is going to happen this weekend which is why I'm not going to jump the gun and make a talkback for tonight. Steve Blum said he hasn't heard anything so what have you.

I wouldn't rule out a black-and-white card detailing Toonami's return though.

I would expect a new Toonami having a mixture of old and new. I would expect FMA: Brotherhood and Durarara!! being a part of it, mixed in with some Toonami favorites, Bleach, and probably a new show or two (Tiger & Bunny probably the likeliest but FUNimation is going to push their newest Toonami-esque material HARD).

Jason DeMarco said on Twitter that Toonami won't be on tonight, but as soon as there's news, Adult Swim will let us know.

I don't expect Toonami to return just like that. They are probably on the planning/pre-working stage right now. Sure, I think we've waited long enough. But you can't rush greatness.

There were a couple of Toonami-related bumps on Adult Swim that I caught tonight. All having to do with the #BringBackToonami Twitter "movement." The bumps I saw ended with [we're listening] and [we're looking into it].

It's interesting to see how many people are supporting it now but when it was cancelled Toonami went almost unnoticed by a lot of people. Maybe they had to be reminded of what they were missing. Either way I'm more than elated to see that Adult Swim is giving us the chance to let them know that we want it back. :)

I love how hard Steve Blum has been pushing it. He's been pretty much leading the #BringBackToonami movement.
