Yeah, good points, not to mention the fact that Melissa was only a member during Hole's worst era. Basically this is probably going to end up being worse than Celebrity Skin and proably even close to as bad as America's Sweetheart. What the hell is wrong with this woman? I think if anything, all this bullshit shows just how important Eric was to Hole. I mean, he had good judgement about Billy Corgan, didn't he? So much for the idea that this was going to be some sort of "comeback" for Courtney Love, because the mere fact that she would sink this low means she almost undoubtedly doesn't have any idea what is wrong with the music she's been making recently. This is just another move of hers, trying to relive her glory days that she herself threw away because she wanted to be a movie star. Why doesn't she just give it up? She's never gonna be a mega rockstar even close to what she was before, and the whole idea is stupid. Why bring back the "rock" Courtney? Remember when she said she wanted to destroy rock music... right up until she realized she could try to be a rock star. She's 40 years old, she should be making mature music, not like her music with Hole. And do the other people in the band realize they're throwing away their time for an album that probably will never come out? Because with her as the only person in the band who will make decisions (and we all know that's the way it will be) she's going to keep changing her mind about what to do. It's gonna be like Chinese Democracy, and will probably end up being worse than that piece of trash. |

"I'm against all these bands coming back - Sex Pistols - you just destroy everything that's cool about you. Once you're in a band and you die, stay dead." --- Eric Erlandson Can't agree anymore...this also made me think that even if offerd a chance to join, do you think Eric would have accepted? |

No way. I doubt he would have wanted anything to do with Courtney anyway. Her behavior in the past 10 years has been unbelievably bad in every way. |

'Samantha' The big first single. Originally tagged on the end of the Linda Perry sessions, its rockular nature inspired the direction that would lead to the resurrection of Hole. Powered by a Billy Corgan riff and firing from all nu-grunge cylinders the rest of the way, 'Samantha' announces Hole’s return doing what Courtney does best – skewering a hooker waitress/model actress who’s no better than she ought to be. “Watch her wrap her legs around this world”, snarls Courtney, as only she can. 'Nobody's Daughter' A complete rewrite of the version that was played live on her UK tour (you can listen to a live version here). The album’s title track has been reborn as a ponderous squall coloured the gothest black. 'Pacific Coast Highway' One of the earliest songs on the session, toughened up from the Perry era, this confessional song is nonetheless one of the record’s more plaintive moments, in the vein of 'Malibu'. Lyrically, it finally addresses the scars she still bears over her husband’s death in the most brutal fashion: "I knew a boy who came from the sea/he was the only boy who ever knew the truth about me... I knew a boy who left me so ravaged/do you even know the extent of the damage? ... I’m overwhelmed and undersexed?/Baby what did you expect?/I’m overwrought and so disgraced/I’m too ashamed to show my face/And they’re coming to take me away now/what I want I will never have/I’m on the Pacific Coast Highway/With your gun in my hand". 'Skinny Little Bitch' A balls-out, low-down dirty rock song, and as fine a signature tune for the new Hole as you could imagine. Tapping the same lyrical vein as 'Samantha', it's The Stooges fronted by a Joan Jett re-imagined as the Bride Of Frankenstein. And it’s the sound of Courtney having fun. 'Honey' The most powerful and the most bleak of all the songs. And possibly also the best. 'Honey' tells her and Kurt's doomed love story in the most unflinching detail, without a single metaphor to act as safety net: “Did I not love you enough to save you from your doom?” It’s a dense, paranoid rock ballad with a minor-key chorus from hell itself: "He goes down, down to his bitter end...". 'Letter To God' Courtney asked Linda Perry for 'Beautiful', the song that eventually went to Christina Aguilera. Instead she got this, a confessional power ballad from Perry’s box of hits, on which Love has the smallest of writing credits (for the line, “I never wanted to be some kind of comic relief”), Courtney has never forgotten the negative feedback from NME Editor Conor McNicholas about the song that “will keep baby in shoes,” but she isn’t budging. "You guys are the NME, you’re not supposed to like this song. I’d be worried if you did!" 'For Once In Your Life' Mellow and reflective, even a little bit folky. And in waltz time. This is Courtney indulging her Stevie Nicks side. 'Codine' A raw and Dylanish dirge, telling an old fashioned love story between a girl and her meds. Stripped down and acoustic, 'Codine' isn't finished yet, but it wears the scars of her recent experience in a hyper-real fantasy. Would be a shoo-in for album closer if it wasn't for... 'Never Go Hungry Again' The ultimate rehab song! But also the ultimate survivor's song. "My dress is torn and I've got no jewels/And I'm hungry for life a little less cruel". 'Never Go Hungry Again' genuinely was written from the point of being broke and broken, and it's a simple, stripped down defence of her indulgent Hollywood lifestyle, and a vow to never go back to the bad old days. The crazy new days are working just fine. |

I must say...I hate the woman with a passion, but you have to envy her attitude. She knows that more or less 80% of th e world must hate her, but she dosnt give a fuck. Where as a lot of people get all depressed and cut themselves or kill themselves, she just does what she wants and dosnt care who thinks what of it. |

I agree with you this is sad to me. Hole was/is a band not just Courtney. Remember back in the day she'd be Liz Phair without the band? Hole is a band remember? Guess she's forgotten that. Be cool to see the actual members that used to be in the band..especially Eric..bring back Eric!! Patti! Samantha! Melissa! Hell some people that actually used to be in the band!

It's a bummer that girls have to respond to rock artists sexually instead of, like, 'wow, me too!'." --- Courtney Love | |

This is kind of random, but "Codeine" is already a song. Buffy Saint Marie did it and later Janis Joplin. So, is she covering it or has she written her own version? |

That's what I thought, and Courtney did do a cover of it in 2004, so perhaps NME just weren't aware it was already a song, and listed it as an original. Either way, Hole/Courtney doing a studio version of the song would sound good. I bought the latest issue of NME today, and there's a whole article on Hole's reunion. Apparently Melissa isn't actually going to do new bass takes, just contribute backing vocals, but will be touring next year. |

from http://www.exploremusic.com/interview/2009...nion-Um-hold-on Melissa Auf Der Maur on the Hole Reunion: “Um, hold on...” Posted by: Alan Cross | Jun 19 2009 2:00PM Updated: Jun 19 2009 3:50PM Earlier this week, Courtney Love spoke to The NME about her on again/off again album provisionally entitled Nobody’s Daughter.(...) So who was in the offices of ExploreMusic.com yesterday? Melissa Auf Der Maur, who is in Toronto to perform at the North by Northeast Music Festival (www.nxne.com) and to screen her experimental film, Out of Our Minds. When I asked her about Courtney’s plans for her, she said this: “All I can tell you is that I love Courtney to bits. She’s a nutbag and I really do care about her. She’s like a long-lost sister to me. “We have not been in touch too much. We’ve been in touch this year after ten years of no contact, I will say that. This new record, she was (maybe still is; it seems a little vague) working with Michael Beinhorn who made Celebrity Skin [Hole’s 1998 album].” “Not only do I feel a soul-sister connection with Courtney, but in particular, Michael Beinhorn and I had an incredible working relationship on Celebrity Skin. And he called me and asked me if I would sing on [Courtney’s] new solo record—which is what I understood it was. And I said ‘Yes’ because I enjoy working with him and do....Well, she and I have a history of making music together and I’m happy to visit her again in the future. “I think you can’t take a Hole reunion thing that lightly. It’s gonna take a little more organizing than just ‘I’ll come and sing some backups and then we got Hole.’ “I don’t know what to say about [the situation]. I’m a little confused as to what the plan with that is. All I can tell you is that I like singing ooos, ahs, and la-la-las behind her voice.” c'mon, melissa knew nothing about it being a Hole reunion, this is hilarious. i love how she's really like, "wait a minute". |

Haha wow... also, why is she going with that guy as the producer again? I think it's probably going to be pretty bad. She should get someone else. |
