I really want to get a tattoo that has to do with Hole/courtney love or maybe Patti Smith, since both their music has impacted me in big ways. If you can help me out with some ideas i'd really appreciate it :)

You could always go for the cliche and get an x'ed out heart. It's nice and subtile, but it's clearly Hole-related.

I recommend looking through album artwork for symbols that you like. There are lots! ^_^

If there are specific lyrics that speak to you more than others you could try to create an image that represents them. For instance, I have a tattoo of a tea cup and saucer with an orchid floating in what would be the tea and "Pennyroyal" written on the cup. "I'm anemic royalty" is written in small letters on the saucer. It's something I made to express the parts/way "Pennyroyal Tea" speaks to me.

It really depends on what you like in Hole's music, what era, etc... You could get the O from the POTI era Hole logo.
About Patti Smith, I can't really think of anything. I'm not sure she ever had a distinctive sign in her cover arts or anything... A horse perhaps?

i dont think i ever would just because my interest in music shifts fairly often. i mean ive always liked certain bands but usually i go through stages where i don’t really care to listen to them. But unlike musical interests, tattoos are forever
