yeah but america doesn't have the same news as us. You can't argue with real footage. Especially not with a load of pro-Blair people on a forum.

I am not only judging him on the war (although a big part of his fall) he is also infamous for soft behaviour i.e teens get pregnant and Blair grants them housing, no rent to pay and benefits providing they are single (so noone earns money in the household). Many think this is bad, as the money for them is sometimes MORE than an average British person earns with a stable job. Also people get annoyed because benifits are of working peoples tax so we have to pay for some sl*t whos had a child is with no education and we have to give up our homes for it too. Its the same with immigrants and other poorer people. People are now fed up with all this and want the Conservatives in (they don't do jack for anyone who's poor)

But they were people from the country, not the US. The people who didn't like him couldn't back it up well...

It sounds like he was trying to think for the people, but slipped up.
I'd probably prefer some more freedoms over conservatives, though. I don't like some of their policies at all... at least US conservatives, like Bush...

well of course they can back it up, most of them lost relatives and friends who have fallen victim to a US war. And you see council estates everywhere (I think at least one in every town according to stats) In my town theres a big estate on the other end of it (an estate is where all the prats who have had children in their teens, who have immagrated, cannot afford anything, uneducated and so on, are placed by government) you can imagine that these are terrible places where crime breeds.

Blair wasn't thinking for people as the benifits and such are part of the Labour party's policy and so must be enforced when in power (as it is now)

Labour party - Believes in the peoples welfare and so give money to those who are incapable of work (they formed the NHS in 1945 which gave free medical health for all). problems in labour are that people abuse this idea and so think that by getting pregnant by some stranger she will get free money. It encourages immagrant who are greeted by this party with open arms (British citizens hate this). Criminals are punished in a soft manner, murderers get only a few years in prison and are hardly ever given a life sentance.

Conservative party - Believes in the country's welfare and so do not willingly give free housing and money. Immigration is untolerated. Life sentance is used for every murder (if given the opportunity, the death sentance would be back). Good when fighting a war as they focus on the county's welfare. the problems is that the people who actually deserve benifits i.e someone who becomes bankrupt due to powers beyond him he has to fight for the privelige.

I'm going to vote Conservative when I come of voting age

The death penalty is a very controversial issue in the US and I am not sure where to stand on it myself. It's just here, in the US, conservatives concern more with international policies. They dislike homosexuality, as an example, and have very traditional views that I think are outdated. The Democrats aren't very good themselves either, but I think a little government help is a good idea
If conservatives were in power in the UK, it sounds like I would never be able to move there, since I've considered that a bit...

I lack knowledge as to how things would work over there unless I lived there. So... *shrugs*

The thing is is that you can still live here its just that its hard under a conservative party, like you said about imigrants in America trying to get citizenship and how hard and lengthy, well it would be the same here.

The thing with English politics is that we vote for the party and its policies and NOT the person in charge (obviously that factor is considered but the election is a party election).

There are three parties to choose from in each election: Labour (who we are under now), Conservative and the Liberal democrates (they believe in having a balance bettween Labour and conservatives. They are never taken seriously and haven't been elected since somewhere in the 1800's). We seem to vote for different parties each time and are never in favour of the same one by the next election. Each party only lasts 10 years each maximum.

Chances are that Conservatives will be voted in as everyone is bored with Labour. Most voting done by young adults of age who have never experienced the other party reigning and so are more likely to vote for them the 20 - 40 age group.

It wouldn't be worth moving then, since no one would care to help me... I just want to live in some foreign country, and the UK speaks English...

I already looked through that a little earlier. It seems a bit holed to me and could set the country into a corner under some circumstances.
The problem int he US is you can only vote for 2 people who represent the parties. It'd be so much more democratic (not the party) if they let us vote for more than those people in the parties and pick our own leaders... It's annoying the parties pick them for us.

Every country in the world is conservative and it bothers me...

we're Labour at the moment and maybe we'll vote the Liberal Democrates in. We don't know yet.
