To cut a long story short, whenever I´m playing a game with higher requirements (the PC still meets them though) my comp randomly shuts down in the middle of the game. Help, please? |

Get a program which monitors CPU temperature and let us know what temp in C that the PC shuts down at. |

Over 70°C. Actually, I´m not that surprised. Maybe I should clean the fans of dust? GPU on 51°C. I guess that´s NO good. :T9: EDIT: I´ve got a piccy! Posted Image |

O_o Yeah give those fans a clean out and maybe check that your computer is not sitting on an insulated surface that may be holding the heat in place. |

Over 70c... Get yourself better cooling. Your PC's shutting down due to throttling. Whether it's in a hot place or fans are blocked... you may want to at least give your PC a good clean and maybe while you're at it upgrade your processor cooler or something. |

I´m not sure (Actually, I´m not really sure at all), but taking my small lamp off the comp might be helpful. This is the temperature when I´m not playing and the lamp is off: Posted Image I´m going to test Red Alert 3 soon, and I´ll give status report after that. EDIT: I opened the case, and there was barely any dust at all! But I still cleaned as much as I could, and wonder if it helps. Eddy said it might be something wrong with |

You mean the thermal paste, right? |

Ah yes, that, sorry. I just didn´t know what it is in English. ^^; So anyways, now I´m just surfing on the net and copying a DVD (extracting using WinRar) and the CPU and GPU are 51°C, and SpeedFan says it´s too hot for them; Others are just okay. I wonder if it´s a problem with the motherboard or the power supplier/source, maybe? |

Indeed, idling at 50c isn't the best. You may want to look into reseating your cooler. Power Supply shouldn't be the cause of the problem. Motherboard shouldn't either. It's most likely cooler related. Either that or you're using a horridly inefficient CPU. A reseat would be a good idea - get yourself some Arctic Silver to replace the old thermal paste. |

I think it´s the thermal paste. When I bought the comp, it was working really, really well until... I´d say five months ago. I guess that´s when it started overheating =P |

Yea, my CPU is at 50C load and I have a Quad core processor OCed 1GHz above its stock clock. So yea, I would definitely clean things out. I've ran into many cases of this on the job. I would try cleaning out your fans, opening up your case and cleaning out your heat sink, but most of all, try to reapply thermal paste onto the processor. Most computers are designed to shut down if the CPU goes over 80-90C, which is definitely showing something wrong. |

Kay, I opened the case and guess what, there was barely any dust! Thus, I´ve com to the conclusion that there is something wrong with the thermal paste, as the CPU could handle "big" games earlier. Anyways, my CPU is AMD Athlon 64 X3 Dual Core 5000+, if that helps. |
