"I wanna fly high!"

The following is my notes from my first day playing on my DSi so far...

-Included in box, System, Quick Start Guide (In 3 languages), Manual (in 3 languages) 2 stylus', 1 AC adapter (it's different again! DS and DS Lite adapters won't work), Nintendo Power subscription form, Club Nintendo info, Safety Book
-Recahrge takes 2.5 hours, max battery life is 9-14 hours on lowest brightness setting, 3-4 on highest setting.
-Setup of DSi is just like the old DS's, except that a parental controls and taking a photo for main menu has been added.
-Menu system clearly has roots on the Wii now that is uses Wii like channels that can be rearranged. Random photo on top screen, with username, day and time, and battery status which has actually improved.
-Menu comes with System Settings, DS Card, DS Photo, DS Audio, DSi Shop, Download Play, and Pictochat
-Take a photo on the menu screen by pressing the L or R button, or by selecting camera in Photo App. Photos taken on menu screen only have the standard "lens"
-Press switch to go to the other camera lens on the back of the system, or back to the one on the hinge. (A light come on if the one on the back is on)
-My first Photo was my Tails Plushie
-Photo app has 11 lenses, Normal, Distortion (Stretch), Graffiti (Drawing and stamps, like on the Wii), Color (Black and white photos, touch something to bring that color back), Colorpad, (Change the color or part of the photo), Mirror (3 mirror types), Mischief (Face recognition applies stamps in the right place), Emoter (Face recognition changes the emotion of someone), Merge (Take two photos, see how the 2 people combine!), Resemblance (Take photo of 2 people, the 2 are compared to see how alike they are), Frame (Take one photo, make a hole in it, take another photo in the hole)
-Calendar is now in Photo App, can save short memos.
-Can save Photos to SD Card for transfer to computer or Wii
-Photo app will NOT display photos from another camera or ones edited on a computer.
-SD cards up to 32GB are supported
-Photos can be organized by 3 different shapes, ones with a star can be shown on Menu screen.
-Audio App can record up to 15 short voice clips. (Can't be copied to SD card)
-They can be filtered (12 filters), speed up and slow down, higher tone lower tone.
-Music for playback must be stored on SD card, AAC Format, Must be DRM free, if you have music on iTunes store that is not DRM free, you can purchase a non DRM free version on the store
-Music has 4 filters, L and R add drum beats, and there are 4 visualizations.
-Up to 3000 files per SD card, don't go more than 8 folders deep on card.
-No Video playback function
-A parakeet can repeat and remember what you say while sound app is on, be careful what you say.
-DSi Shop currently sorts games and apps by points price.
-1000 free DSi Points if you go on shop before Oct. 5th
-DSi accepts master card, VISA, and Nintendo points Cards. 2000 points = $20
-Points can't be transferred between Wii and DSi
-Browsing the shop and downloading is slower than on the Wii.
-DSi Browser (Free on shop) is faster than the DS brower for my lite!, No Flash or videos still... Opera 9.5
-Download play did not get a makeover from the old DS models, still works just like it did.
-Pictochat's only change is the addition of a rainbow pen.
-Settings screen looks a lot like the one on the Wii.
-Data management won't appear until you connect to shop channel.
-Brightness settings can be adjusted in settings or anywhere by holding down select and pressing up or down on volume switch, yes it's a switch now! (camera shutter is non mutable due to local laws in some areas)
-WiFi is always on by default, you can disable it by going to settings. (I wish there was a hardware switch for that)
-Alarm works just like it did on the older DS models
-Parental Controls can block by ESRB rating, can also require PIN for download play, PictoChat (parents needed that!), use of DSi Points, Photo Sharing over wireless, user-generated content, and the browser.
-Mic Test has been added
-Internet access settings are now set up in settings. Use connections 4, 5 and 6 for WPA and WPS if you need to use those, those settings can only be used on DSi only and DSi enhanced games and apps.
-I was able to transfer my Friend Codes over to the DSi just fine!
-DSi is region coded, watch out if you import newer games!
-Firmware can be updated, the initial shipment came with version 1.2 but they released 1.3 a few days ago.
-Buttons press down like they did on the original DS.
-Pressing power briefly brings you back to menu screen, holding down turns system off.
-You can safely remove and insert game cards on the menu screen.
-You don't have to power down the system to save settings, or when using pictochat or download play anymore.

Yes, the Wii is able to show the photos taken by the DSi! Just make sure the photo is on an SD card!

It's a memory card commonly used in camera's.

I actually tried my Action Replay for my DS and guess what happened?

It can't read it!

I can say though, I'm not surprised it couldn't. :TailsAshamed:

All unauthorized game cards from the DS and DS Lite are blocked on the DSi.
