Got some news coming in from TSSZ that some may not like. A SEGA France official in an interview being asked about Project Needlemouse said the following...

Quote:

But with Project Needlemouse, I think that Sega wanted to settle [sic] demands, because there’s a lot a nostalgic gamers out there, and on XBOX Live or PSN…(pause)…you have a lot of hardcore gamers. And the old versions of Sonic games are selling very well on these platforms, so there’s a real market for these kinds of products. [...] The idea really is to finally please all these hardcore gamers, because we love them at Sega.

The quote above suggests that Needlemouse will ONLY be released on The Playstation Store and Xbox Live Arcade, leaving non internet users and Wii only players out in the cold.

I am currently considering this a rumor and may not be for sure information, even if the quote is from SEGA.

Well, this is interesting. Even with the two Wii-only games, they plan to do this now?

Either way, I'm fine with it. I'd planned to get it for my 360 from the start, but this isn't good news for some. :/

I think it's a bad idea. Most Sonic games have been on Sega consoles and/or Nintendo consoles. I mean yeah, the PS3 and 360 have had the Mega Collection, but the Gamecube had it first. Sure, the PS3 and 360 had STH '06 and shared Unleashed, but there were many Gamecube and GBA only games after Adventure 2.

Bit dodgy... but it won't affect us, since we have internet access on our PS3!

Well, there is one reason why they might be doing this, the download only Mega Man 9.

I can see why they would leave out the Wii with this new game based on what happened with Sonic Unleashed. SU had a completely different game on the Wii, with different gameplay, different interface, and even different stages. Maybe they wanted to focus the entire team on to one game this time around, and didn't want to have to either making a different game again/or port it down to the Wii. What I don't like about this is the download only part. That would definitely hurt sales really bad on this game if it's true.

All good and well Ashes... but how do you think Wii players would react on this? Yes SU (wii) was different from the playstation 3 and Xbox360. But still doesn't take away the fact that Wii players will be left out on a game that even the Wii players, who are just dying to have an old school sonic game reborn like Project Needle Mouse want to play. Look I am no expert on controlling mechanisms, but it's not to much of a problem in theory. The only thing that might change is the controlling ability and handling. As Wii uses full motion detection and the Xbox360 and Playstation 3 (only a very tiny bit motion control in some games) just use old button pressing things. That is actually pretty much the difference between control styles.... Now I also know that the Xbox360 and Playstation 3 can support more graphic memory consuming games than the Wii, but like we saw with some games on the Wii (the Conduit for example) the graphics can look good even on the Wii.

ok, regarding control issue on wii, I think wii remote has enough buttons to control sonic 2d game with it, and they can put just simple motions controls on it.... (wii remote would be hold sideways)
Just look Wario Land The Shake Dimension (Shake It), it's classic 2d platformer, has great gameplay, great graphics (anime style), and whole game uses 2 wii buttons (1 & 2), direction buttons, and couple of motion controls.
Same thing could be done for Project Needlemouse.

True. After even seeing how Sonic and the Black Knight looks on the Wii, it can process some pretty heavy graphics. As for controls, well, the classic controller would come in handy. :T14:
